Ordered the hardware via your link. Parts arrived quickly. Job only took about 20 minutes from start to finish. Splash shield is now secure again. Thanks!
Great video, will be doing this when I get home today. Already ordered the kit to replace some missing screws and found out the inserts were stripped. Love the channel, it’s been a big help since I got my Escape.
Hey thanks Matt- thats awesome that you've been able to use the videos- good luck with the inserts and give a shout if you have any questions! Thanks for taking the time to say something!
Man, thank you for the video. Saved my a$$! Watched your video a few times before getting under my 2018. Replaced the T30s and inserts as if I was a Ford mechanic. I owe you lunch! Thanks again.
The quick lube oil change place only had two WRONG BOLT type screws and not the type of screws the kit showed. Using the link you provided I ordered and replaced all the hardware. Thank you for your video. It was very helpful. Stay safe.
You're welcome Lisa, sorry for the delay in response- thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity to support the channel! Give a shout if you have any other questions please!
Thank you very much for the great feedback, John. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment and say something - apologies on the delayed response! Hope all is well.
I changed mine out last oil change when I replaced the splash shield. It helps to have something to wedge between the panels while you're replacing them. I would also recommend replacing all the fasteners with a new splash shield. Just to make sure you won't have to replace it in future because of faulty or missing fasteners.
Thats a pretty good suggestion regarding the swap with a new shield or oil change at least. So you're saying where I held the panels apart with my hands you just popped something in there to be able to use both hands?
this channel is such a life saver sometimes. had no idea it would be this easy to change these out, and thank you for sharing the link on the parts! just ordered some as a few of the plastic nuts on my escape seem to have reached their end and it isn't hold up the splash shield very well. I'd hate to loose it while driving.
Hey thanks, Stephanie! Sorry for the delay in response- I agree it was easier than expected. To your point, my original splash shield DID rip out in the snow while driving a few years back and it wasn't awesome. Best to have fresh inserts in and everyone stays safe... and in one piece haha. Thanks for taking the time to comment and please let me know if there's something else we can help you with!
Super helpful, as always! I found it pretty tough to get those front clips in place, and it helped to line them up with the holes before 'blindly' pushing them up and in 🙂 maybe with more light and a stronger neck I wouldn't have had a problem.
Thank you so much. The clips on the two sides I used never tightened, Not sure how to make them tight. On my 2018 Escape I did not have to take all the bolts out in the front (or rather push pins on mine) I was able to to wedge an end of my screwdriver to keep it open enough.
I just tuned into this channel and am impressed. I gained some knowledge, but the info I'm looking for is hard to find. Specifically, I have a 2018 Escape Titanium with 2.0L. The front shield: EJ7Z-6P013-A fell off. It is a felt covered engine splash shield. I bought a new one as the mounting holes were all ripped. Dealer is unable to guide me to buy the correct fasteners. No kidding.. I went to 2 dealers and they give me the "AR" response- "As Required". They are incredibly unhelpful and will get an earful from me later. (for those needing a new one- shop the dealers as prices will range from $180-250) Can you review / repair the felt covered 2018 Escape splashshield on this channel and help all of us to understand the fasteners needed to attach to the underbody?
Hey there and thanks for taking the time for the great feedback and question- sorry you're getting run through the rounds by the dealerships. Helpful that you have the new shield and the P/N already. Have you tried looking at a site like TascaParts? There are good exploded view diagrams and it SHOULD have the factory parts/hardware associated with the shield nearby in the graphic. Try this link and then look at #18 which is titled, "Under Cover Screw". If it' snot the right one, there are a few fasteners in the area around the shield. Give a shout if it's what you are looking for! www.tascaparts.com/v-2018-ford-escape--sel--1-5l-l4-gas/body--splash-shields
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews And so here is my update on this issue. I went to 3 different dealers and found one parts counter guy who knew which ones to buy. About $40 for overpriced fasteners that didn't work because the holes/ nuts were all shot. Several things going on here: 1. Every oil change they must drop this shield and depending on the skill (and care) of the mechanic / technician doing the work they may or may not properly secure the shield. 2. After numerous oil changes and of course when the car is out of warranty the receiving nuts/holes no longer properly secure the shield. They are likely stripped. 3. Winter weather / snow and ice and heavy rain along with road debris no doubt test the robustness of the design and installation. All that being said, I simply used some 1" screws with a big washer to secure the shield. The screws varied in width as a few of the holes were buggered up (Bugger is a technical term ! lol). Bottom line is that it is on and secure. Next oil change might be a challenge.
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews BEST solution yet ! Talked with my Bro in Minnesota who has similar issues. He bought some double headed threaded screws. Wood screw on one end, and machine screw threading on other. He bought some stainless washer and wingnuts to secure. BRILLIANT ! The wood screw end is sunk into the plastic nut imbedded in the car chassis and then the wingnuts and washers are installed on machine screw end. The wingnuts can be tightened by hand preventing the oil change guy or anyone else from using an impact wrench to strip the screws.
So the metal side clips don't attach to the shield. They attach to the plastic on the car- there are one on each side, just inside each wheel. The screws hold the shield to the plastic on the car and the threads of the screws either go into the red inserts or the metal clips- please let me know if that makes sense- I may have not said that super clearly haha
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews I'll have to get under there and look again. I wasn't able to lift the car so I can very far underneath to see very well. It looked like the holes in the guard were too big and the screws would just slide through. Thanks for your help.
Hey there @theebadge! Checking Tasca Parts, it looks like its Ford Part # CJ5Z8310A and it is the "lower air deflector". You can go on Tasca and browse the exploded view diagrams which is what I find really helpful when I don't know what a part is called but know what it looks like haha. Anyhow, hope this is helpful. Tasca is really good, but usually not the cheapest price. Try searching the part number on other sites to get your best price. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions or if I misinterpreted your request!
Hi @David_Taylor- are you saying that you use it instead of a T-30? Does it fit inside the torx pattern?! Or are you talking about prying off the T-30 inserts?
Good question! I feel like the ones we've featured here on the channel have been discontinued pretty quickly unfortunately- the Jinke and GZYF shields... there ARE thinner plastic OE style shields available on Amazon that I have not tried/verified but APPEAR to be good if you're interested. TASCA has some as well- you can check it out here if you'd like to give it a try? www.amazon.com/dp/B07PFZ882B?ref=exp_howtoescapediytipsandreviews_dp_vv_d

There are only 7 t30 screws for shield replacement... how about the hex screws?
How do the silver metal side clips attach to the shield? Do you screw into the clips? Thanks

At 3:04, what is the name of the black cover under the radiator? I need one because the silver bumper cover is just hanging loose.

"These ones"? Do you also say "destinated" and "suspicioned"? I suspicioned you do.
Any leads on where the get a new plastic shield these days?
