I'm super excited about PVE and Exploration updates. The prototech blocks can drive exploration and give me a reason to run around the solar system so they're cool too. New blocks are probably second. It looks like we'll get some fun new blocks (full block connector!) and I look forward to incorporating them into my builds.
I actually thought of something: what if, when you steal prototec you gain bad rep with the prototec faction and each time you steal again, they end bigger and more ships to intercept you, they send scouting ships to look for their prototec blocks and of found they send a big ship to that location.
Here's hoping they're global encounters rather than a scenario! That way we can enjoy the aspects of the encounters over and over again, rather than just the one or 2 times we play the scenario
No they aren't stupid. They will likely work in a similar way to the random encounters already present in the game. But they might also have a scenario to give people the chance to encounter prototech directly.
The trick isn't going to be to kill the Factorum ship, because anyone can put 800 arty-turrets on a brick, its going to be disabling and capturing it in good condition so you can loot it for extra prototech components.
I'm just hoping it extends and builds upon the base game, so playthrus last longer before you feel like you've done everything. I especially hope it entices you into long quests thousands of kilometers from the planets area to find Prototech stuff. Beyond that, I hope the teased new resources enriches the base game as well as the endgame. Oh, and that 2x1 door, hell yes. We'll now be able to structure our ships with primary, secondary and tertiary corridors. Designed well, this really opens up the possibilities for coherent interiors that aren't just a maze.
I'm really excited about vanilla "PvE" encounters being focused on, as while there were a few pirates and things before there was nothing to *REALLY* do once you got into space and mined a few asteroids. Even if it's not necessarily "progression" to other planets, just things to keep you in space for a while once you get up there is pretty neat! I'm kinda worried about this style of "block extraction" though. It can be really fun, but I'm so used to the Advanced Welding mod that I feel that like, cutting all the blocks around a thing and then attaching merge blocks and trying to get things to hook into place might feel pretty clunky.
At 8:02 Small Grid Industrial Cargo Container? I've not played in a while, but that was the one small grid cargo counterpart to large grid cargo containers we where missing.
The PVE exploration has me very curious. New encounters with the high probability of being on scenario level of story telling, prototech, more story, new blocks, etc. I'm very excited for this update.
The idea of an out of control ship as an encounter sounds interesting, got to wonder how how it plays out? I have a few ideas, A: it starts dormant then after some time or interaction it jumpstarts an AI or remote block, or B: it spawns in moving slow enough for the player to stably walk on it with artificial gravity and to allow the player to catch up to it but fast enough to not make it a sitting duct. As for the second truss block I agree, @6:05 (when comparing the two images) the orientation is off, consider the angle of the struts one is horizontal while the second is vertical, which if were the same block the struts in picture 1 would be facing right in picture 2 rather than facing down.
That would be so much fun if they were two encounters that crossed each other because that creates a whole level of complexity, which makes it feel natural
I already stated my opinion on scenarios and I can't even express how much I hope that you're right on these teasers not being scenarios. Maybe dreaming big pays off for once!!!! 🤞

8:23 I 100% agree with you now. You physically can’t make a turret like this. It has to be something new. Thankfully it looks like a CIWS turret, so absolute W as those are the best looking turrets of all time.
this new update is going to be awesome i think you are right about the new encounters it makes more sense now this is really going to make space engineers a cool game indeed i have stopped all my other games and only play space engineers now so addicted
Maybe its possible that there are some performance enhancments with the update. As you said once, such big stations would need more performance due to more pcu used. also we can save pcu via prototec blocks. With the turret: its most likly gonna be a new one... althoug i dont want to rule a custome turret out. But it looks like its really clearly teasing a new turret, with would make sense. All in all: Great video and im very exited for the update
I think it's very likely there is some performance enhancements as there usually is with an update. And, as we have the ship used in that teaser, and that weapon isn't on that ship, it's 100% a new weapon.
While I sound like a broken record here, I'm hoping that this expansion gives us a real reason to go out and explore the solar system, rather than everything being all around us or else MES spawning everything within 5km of us. I've several years in this game and I only recently found the moon when I decided to take a road trip circumnavigating the planet! As an Eve Online veteran, I would also love if the encounters gave us a chance of an escalation to the encounter, with more opportunity to explore.
6:11 This looks like a centered truss corner. The current truss corner is for the offset truss. 6:40 Zocliw has been asked a number of times about more pistons and specifically one that is 3x3 small grid, analog to the 3x3 hinge and the advanced rotor. The last time he was asked he was noncommital about it, whereas at earlier times he was negative. The piston shown in the teaser does not appear to be 3x3 sized though. 7:13 That small gate appears to have a thinner overhead connection than the current gate. Hopefully two of these will allow a 9x9 small grid square to pass, not just 8x8. 7:18 Yes, we really do need the inset connector. Really.
Hard to do, when your content is centered mostly around a single game/and it's updates, which aren't released often. (Not saying it's bad, plenty do this, it's just that you really aren't in a position to HAVE a traditional upload schedule, and people need to accept that)
I like the fact that if the only way to get the new blocks is to find them it’ll change up combat For PvP and PvE. You won’t want to just destroy the entirety of the enemy ship, you’ll probably wanna disable it and bored to see what they have.
Im hyped for encounters. A reason to exist and use all the bases and ships that ive downloaded in the sandbox solar system!! Something more than just spawning drones and ships behind a timer like system And maby even a storyline leading to POI's and hopfully varying levels of being hunted depending on mad you mad the factorium...
I wonder if they'll add in some of the global encounters as new missions in trade outposts or if they'll be completely random encounters. It would be nice if we could decide to go do one and not just have to fly around randomly hoping to find them. I'd also love to see an option for the different skins(frozen, dusty, etc.) To be an automated thing. If I land on an ice planet, switch the ship and anything I build to the frozen paint. Same for sand areas.
I don’t play Space Engineers but it does make sense that they would focus all their resources for that sort of thing solely on global encounters rather than splitting it between scenarios and global encounters.
My first thought was that this was encounters, however when you show the clip last time where xocliw comments he has not played it yet, i was convinced that it was a scenario. However i think it is very likely that there will be all sorts of new encounters, and they can also contain premade voxels and such, much like the hermit station encounter
Personally I think the new turret may be a military themed laser antenna skin. The barrel looks too rectangular to be a gatling turret, unless it was only double barreled. Perhaps even an upgraded factotum version of the laser antenna that would allow to AI blocks to interface similar to the WiFi but with much greater range. Perhaps when the dev said that he was “reminded of something for the new update” wasn’t referring to the modded turret entirely, but rather the laser rangefinder thing on the top of the modded turret’s model.
@@Zer0sLegion tbh I kinda hope so also ❤️ you are absolutely right that the missile launcher and gattling turret look strange when next to the newer models from warfare II. Anyway love the content and dedication to respond to so many people. Keep being awesome 🔥
I wouldn't be surprised if it is a mix of both scenario and encounter. We know that there are plenty of scenarios already, and it wouldn't surprise me if there was another to properly introduce players to this new militant faction and their tech. But at the same time, we know for sure that these new encounters are going to be huge due to literally locking a new, more advanced teir behind them.
6:51 It’s about time we get a 3x3 piston. Was building earlier this week and realized there is a 3x3 rotor, 3x3 hinge, but no 3x3 piston. I am 100% certain that’s what it is. Hope it splits the difference between 2m and 10m and goes goes 5m. Desperately needed this for my current ship its small grid but needed 40+ pistons just to cover the range for a printer barely large enough to print two missiles side by side. Dozens of 2m range pistons spites Klang and incites his fury… makes it a nightmare to build decent reach arms in a small grid. Would be much more stable with less pistons due to 3x3s with 5m range. Fingers crossed. Alternative perhaps it’s an armored piston like the armored conveyors to help with clang when you stack a bunch of pistons? Wouldnt make much sense given clang would still pay a visit the moment you use it, so again I’m confident it’s a 3x3 piston. This one might beat the inset connector for me. Not only does it look better, it will aid grid stability. This update is looking like the best since Automatons 🤞
@@Zer0sLegion I think it would be cool but it wouldn’t make sense to add cosmetic versions when they are missing a basic 3x3 version yet have 3x3s for rotors, hinges, etc. Would definitely appreciate a better piston, but if the goal is Klang aversion by lowering PCU is the goal which they hinted pro tech centered around addressing, small-large grid needs some love and this would definitely go a long way for us small grid printer designers not trying to incite clang over stacking 10 small grid pistons just the move the distance of 2 large grid ones.
Ngl, i kinda thought the "scenarios" were probable encounters, it just seemed to fit. and if so, im 100000% taking over an asteroid base that has a carved inside already for stations
It’s official coming in October. On Columbus Day is my guess. Seems thematic. Also Zer0, I’ve asked painting tips, how about names like m theme with Cypher?
For 50k subs you could make an event in your server like the one with the 2 teams, maybe this time the combat could be on the Earth-like planet. Just give us a bunch of resources for about 30 -> 60min and let us clash. The sheer chaos that will happen between the teams and inside the teams is gonna be so wild and yt worthy that even Last stand gamers gonna be jealous.
Good Encounters updates with the improvements in AI blocks is very doable, but there needs to be an improvement all around with Economy interactions (NPCs, Space Credits, contracting, mabe including NPC bounty contracts that has you going against different levels of ships/bots where you have to capture data pads or certain items for contracts, requiring you to tactfully attack/commandeer a ship vs just hammer it to death). Factions for players need an update with levels of permissioning, and it would be nice if the GPS coordinate system was overhauled where we can organize/collapse/extend all of the saved locations. Maybe have them color coordinated or categorized sub-tasked as 'ores' or 'enemies' or POI's vs just random coordinates where you're having to get creative in the naming convention to keep them organized. Im thinking this update will be as big as the Economy update, immersively maybe even more. I hope so. i would love to see more close to vanilla mp servers that have cool immersion with a good amount of regular players and also have solid sim speeds. Poor performance and no players are the two main reasons I dont stick to a server often. And part of the Proto upgrades my guess is a less of a strain on the performance issues this game heavily suffers from. Even Keens OWN SERVERS have most of their built-in, vanilla features disabled...who does that? "Come play on our own hosted servers for a game we developed, where we turn off all our features!" lol
congrats on 50k! I'd like to thank you for replying to my comment on a previous post, I appreciate everything you bring/do for the space engineers community!
I wish there was different sizes of pistons cause I feel like having a bigger bulkier piston would be nice for making some heavy duty builds. Plus maybe it would be more resistant to clang.
The ship the "factorum" sent is also likely to be another player sending a recon team to steal the block. Keen have used other player ships in trailers too, no? At least they do in the clips that play in the main menu. For example, the warfare updates. None of the ships we saw in those trailers were added to the game as encounters And regarding the scenario, there was a comment made by a dev that went something along the lines of "oh this person had fun playing this"
Hopefully the new connector acts more like a merge block that you could attatch different grid types. I have aspirations of building some type of piston/ rotor setup that will take a ship from nose down, grab it and flip it nose up for faster departure.
I hope and pray that some day we get large grid Gatling mounted weapons. And also Zer0 if you read this reply with any ship painting tips you have. I’m trying to paint a fleet I built for this update. Love your videos btw
The floodlight/spotlight truss block does look the same both times. Just rotate it 90⁰ clockwise and look at where the light is pointing in that 2nd image and where the brightest point where it collides is. It looks like it lines up perfectly.
Wait, if what you thought was a scenario isn't a scenario? That means there are gonna be more things happening around the star system, which would also help us having more fun... And yes, I do agree, some encounter mods are just terrible, flying in a straight line, only attacking when you are attacking, like... It's basically free parts at that point, there is this one mod that I do like for encounters and it's called Original Stations and encounters... Which does exactly what this update sets out to do
My hope is that square "piston" actually turns out to be a free suspension block that can take force. That's one of the main things SE is missing in terms of individual components. Of course we have wheel suspensions, but those only let one wheel on them.
I think theres a very high chance the new turret is the tripple barrel gatling design. It looks just like it when you're looking at the LOD models of the static version.
It could be 1 of 3 things 1) new scenario. 2) new encounters. 3) new “cinematic” world. What I call cinematic worlds are technically official worlds that are used in the release trailer. Looking back at warfare 2 where you go to the workshop and download a world that was used in the trailer and in the world was a mine that had the evil mushrooms at the bottom. If I remember correctly it’s called Rust Point. Go have a look and you’ll see what I mean.
Could be both a Scenario and Encounters? So that way it will improve base survival and you can play a scenario that chains them altogether to remove any chance of RNG shenanigans.
I have noticed some things from the trailers that no one is talking about. Space Engineers: Clang Cola Advert... Factorum?!? when it shows the walkway the door opens, it looks like the door is a double or triple block door like the one from the trailer when they are attacking the asteroid base. and in the video you did "PROTOTECH JUMP DRIVE + MORE - New Space Engineers Update" when the ship is taking off, the door has the blue lights going around the opening, I do not remember seeing that before in-game. also in the same video when the ship takes off after the door closes on the left where you zoom in on the new block, there is a large cargo container, but it has strips (yellow and black) I have not seen that before I could be wrong and just have not used that block enough, but is that a new paint?
I don't think New blocks have been limited to a scenario, So I would say these blocks and encounters are are for sure coming to the base game, all "modes". I do see the potential to also add a scenario that may help understand new mechanics/tactics.
What are you most excited about coming in the next update? Let me know!

Wouldnt make much sense given clang would still pay a visit the moment you use it, so again I’m confident it’s a 3x3 piston. This one might beat the inset connector for me. Not only does it look better, it will aid grid stability. This update is looking like the best since Automatons 🤞
I'm imagining it's just a cosmetic variant of the vanilla piston.

Anakin: What have I done!
I'm most excited for your video after the new stuff drops. 👍
You and me both!
Thanks again for the excellent video, Bossman
You're welcome 🫡
For 50k subs you could make an event in your server like the one with the 2 teams, maybe this time the combat could be on the Earth-like planet. Just give us a bunch of resources for about 30 -> 60min and let us clash. The sheer chaos that will happen between the teams and inside the teams is gonna be so wild and yt worthy that even Last stand gamers gonna be jealous.
I wanna do some more multiplayer stuff, I just need to find the time to do it.
@@Zer0sLegion if you need someone into tech stuff I can help you 👀
Good Encounters updates with the improvements in AI blocks is very doable, but there needs to be an improvement all around with Economy interactions (NPCs, Space Credits, contracting, mabe including NPC bounty contracts that has you going against different levels of ships/bots where you have to capture data pads or certain items for contracts, requiring you to tactfully attack/commandeer a ship vs just hammer it to death).
They're wiping the Keen servers before the update so we're assuming that global encounters we will be available afterwards.
Congrats on hitting 50k. With this update and VRage3 on the horizon things are looking good
They are!
I just hope they are encounters what would be one of the best things Keen could do for SE
I was gonna build a new ship blueprint but... seems like i'll have to wait until the update comes to start sketching.
Yeah, I've spotted building my new ship as well 😅
Congrats on 50k!
Thank you!!🎉
congrats on 50k! I'd like to thank you for replying to my comment on a previous post, I appreciate everything you bring/do for the space engineers community!
Thanks! and you're welcome!
I wish there was different sizes of pistons cause I feel like having a bigger bulkier piston would be nice for making some heavy duty builds. Plus maybe it would be more resistant to clang.
It would be cool but "more resistant to clang" 🤨, that ain't ever happening lol 😅
i can't wait for the interesting & and vast blocks on iG the ships.

The ship the "factorum" sent is also likely to be another player sending a recon team to steal the block. Keen have used other player ships in trailers too, no? At least they do in the clips that play in the main menu. For example, the warfare updates. None of the ships we saw in those trailers were added to the game as encounters
And regarding the scenario, there was a comment made by a dev that went something along the lines of "oh this person had fun playing this"
The ships they show have the gold plating which is indicative of Factorum.
I'm convinced the green stuff is tiberium.
Happy 50,000!
🎉🥳🎉
i've wanted this update since they shown the first teaser i want it now i want it i need it and I do hope that all of those are encounters.
Ive been waiting, playing factorio, and now, the factory goes on pause... SPACE MUST BE CONCURRED AGAIN!!
Hopefully the new connector acts more like a merge block that you could attatch different grid types. I have aspirations of building some type of piston/ rotor setup that will take a ship from nose down, grab it and flip it nose up for faster departure.
I mean, it's probably just gonna be a connector.
I hope and pray that some day we get large grid Gatling mounted weapons. And also Zer0 if you read this reply with any ship painting tips you have. I’m trying to paint a fleet I built for this update. Love your videos btw
I am not the person to ask about painting tips 😅 Have you seen my ships?💀
@@Zer0sLegion have you seen mine. The shape is fine. The paint is abysmal
Congrats on 50k subscribers! Well deserved🥳
Now we just need Aragath to comment something completely innocent again to confuse you 😆
Or Xocliw, his comments about the first teaser didn't help 😅
The floodlight/spotlight truss block does look the same both times. Just rotate it 90⁰ clockwise and look at where the light is pointing in that 2nd image and where the brightest point where it collides is. It looks like it lines up perfectly.
I still don't see it, either i'm taking crazy pills or it's not the same block🤪
@@Zer0sLegion maybe I'm on crazy pills and it is a different block.
I don't know if it is gonna be a scenario or an encounter but I hope it's going to be an encounter
Small grid jumpdrives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : O My Space-Car can jump!
Which does exactly what this update sets out to do
I'm pretty sure that's what global encounters are
My hope is that square "piston" actually turns out to be a free suspension block that can take force.
That's one of the main things SE is missing in terms of individual components. Of course we have wheel suspensions, but those only let one wheel on them.
You can change the suspension on the current pistons in the game to achieve this.
@@Zer0sLegion What? How?
I think theres a very high chance the new turret is the tripple barrel gatling design.
It looks just like it when you're looking at the LOD models of the static version.
Yeah, it's probably a lower LOD model. I'm still expecting it to be a normal gatling though.
A SE collab with ROCK&STONE!? :O MUSHROOMS in CAVES!

Congrats on the 50K subscribers :)
Thank you!
4.36 that almost looks like a "beryllium" stirrer maybe a component for a new reactor, let's hope for new minerals then ingots for energy equipment
I wouldn't get your hopes up 😅
It could be 1 of 3 things 1) new scenario.
I doubt they would be teasing a “cinematic” world for the next update. That's one way to get a whole bunch of people disappointed.
@@Zer0sLegion just making a guess is all.
Could be both a Scenario and Encounters? So that way it will improve base survival and you can play a scenario that chains them altogether to remove any chance of RNG shenanigans.
It could be both!
0:00 haha made you read my comment
💀💀
6:40 this might be some sort of shock absorber. You can see it being compressed when the ship runs into the prototech block.
That's just normal piston behaviour
great vid man
I was too late to tip you over 50k, but I subbed during this vid! I enjoy your vids.
Thanks🫡
2 day streak of watching your videos less than an hour after you post them!
A true hero 🫡
Yeah, I'm aware of the door, we don't see enough of it though.
All of this is so good..
Hopefully, there is a major expansion into the mod API and a complete rewrite of the spawning mechanism: enemies, asteroids, resources, etc.
I assume this stuff will be available to modders.
Inset connector might have the same ports as the inset cryo room (One bottom one of the side)
Yeah, I'm expecting something like that.
I'm hoping it's a scenario and global encounters.
I love when I finish a video and start scrolling to find the next one and get a notification that Zer0 posted 🔥
It's always great when that happens!
I don't think New blocks have been limited to a scenario, So I would say these blocks and encounters are are for sure coming to the base game, all "modes".
I do see the potential to also add a scenario that may help understand new mechanics/tactics.
I never said that, I just thought we might see a scenario alongside this update. The blocks were never going to be limited to a scenario.
@@Zer0sLegion Not trying to put words in your mouth. Just stating my opinion like you asked for :)
okay you got me i'll stick around.
