@@piercebunge4297Paradox games tend to not have a large player base, even the largest one, hoi4 has 2.5m active players in 30 days. At 25:02 the proximity fuze on artillery is for airburst rounds that explode just above the ground. These are better because when the shell hits the ground most of the fragments go into the ground and most of the ones that don't go up, while when they burst in the air the fragments cover a larger area. Especially effective against trenches.
Some added context is that they already had this but manually timed so it mostly worked for pre-ranged fire. The "variable timed" fuses were not actually timed at all and instead had a small radar in them to detect when something (like the ground) was close. They were named that to try and hide what they actually were since they did not want the enemy to try and copy them.
@@lolasdm6959 they were largely developed for medium and heavy AA, hence why they placed in that part of the tech tree. But the consistent airburst capability was also very useful once they allowed them to be used over land. At first they were only allowed to use them over the ocean or firmly in friendly territory because they were so cautious about not having their enemies find out about them.

The japanese surrender with the desicion after the nuke if they lost a considerable amount of pacific islands - you managed to lose pretty much every single island so yeah thats why they didnt surrender
@2:33 Fun fact, the Japanese submarine I-26 shelled a lighthouse on Vancouver Island, Canada in 1942 using a 14 cm/40 11th Year Type hull-mounted naval gun. They missed all of their shots. A night later, American Fort Stevens at the mouth of the Columbia River was also attacked by a submarine.
Another fun fact, the Japanese submarine I-24 tried to shell the Sydney Harbour Bridge in June 1942. It shot 10 rounds, all of which missed, and only 1 exploded. The one that exploded had missed by 5.5 kilometres. Maybe using deck guns for indirect fire isn't such a great idea.
Is it just me or is isp cranking up the uploads lately? Like I know most of the vids are like from September but still dude must have binge recorded Hoi4....no wonder he's insane
Paradox gotta balance this DLC, I get that ISP was rushing it but being able to get normal nukes in 1942 and thermal in 1944 is fucking ridiculous like why wouldn't everyone rush that. Literally invented long range missiles with nuclear warheads before he got an ice carrier I feel is gonna make any MP games kinda stupid. Idc about multiplayer balance if you can't trust your friends to limit themselves, don't play with them or use a mod. Multiplayer balance ruins the fun of singleplayer.
22:58 it's even worse in the base game since the ONLY land project available is the military engineering vehicle. very hard to justify actually building a facility for it, and the fact that germany and france start with a land facility becomes so much less exciting
What could be done is move assault rifles to a special project so you can get the best infantry equipment that way and that can pass out the land warfare branch, maybe move night vision and advanced amphibious tanks too
22:52 This is even worse without any DLC, since you get a grand total of one special project for land, which gives you yet another armoured vehicle to add to a new production line (no equipment conversions!) for only a few support companies.

The next major update should be for diplomacy and peace deals and fix late game lag. Then after that it would be cool to have a massive Cold War expansion pack. I don’t think hoi5 is ever coming out so might as well just keep updating 4 with good expansions
The Variable Time Fuze shells are over in AA because thats what they were developed for, instead of having the AA gunners guess the height of the aircraft the VT shells have a mini radar system in them and will explode when they're close to an aircraft as for their land use the only time was during the battle of the bulge when a US artillery battery of 6 105mm guns stopped an entire German battalion and forced them to surrender
12:59 the problem is when it fails it doesn't properly explain why it failed. It just shows that you successfully nuked two cities and doesn't show the criteria you didn't meet (hold certain key islands and destroy the Japanese navy). So if you didn't know about those requirements in advance you just see a failed decision that says you successfully completed the required task, which is very confusing
