Wow. The only reason I've stuck with Adobe is because they're really the only game where I can sync all my photos with my MacBook, iPad Pro and the web. Looks like that is coming to an end. It would be nice if Apple brought back Aperture with iCloud sync and an iPad app. I already have 2TB of cloud storage with Apple because I have security cameras that sync with HomeKit and the video storage of my security cameras doesn't count against my storage allotment. I'll have to find a new photo manager/editor sooner than later.
Today, April 19th of 2024 I tried to upload all my winter photos into the cloud and bang. I ran into this. Haven't access the cloud since Jan this year and wow! Like holy shit! I can't believe they did that.
I'm confused. Adobe states that "Cloud Documents" within Photoshop and Illustrator are NOT going away. I'm so confused.
Cloud documents is a different structure. It won't let you organize files and folder structures like before, from what I understand.
I too never use the cloud or Adobe. Thanks to you some of my friends have seen the light.

I never did go to their greedy subscription model; still using CS6 - it does everything I need (although I have to convert all new camera files to DNG first).

I'm a bit confused. I'm currently syncing through lightroom classic on my macbook and I'm seeing and editing them on lightroom mobile on my samsung. It seems to be working fine, am I missing something?
If you are importing into classic you are probably editing a smart preview on your Samsung. The changes will then sync back to your original raw file on the MacBook at full res. But you only get a smart preview on your other devices.

This video says nothing other than repeating existing news and is mainly an ad for a book.
Yet another reason I am glad that I cut the Adobe cord at LR6 and never went for their perpetual pay model; I’ve done the same with Microsoft. I couldn’t justify the cost. I’ve moved on to other products that offer a one-time license purchase agreement. There are so many potential pitfalls in cloud computing.

Affinity Photo is a very good Photoshop replacement. I wish Serif made a Lightroom alternative.

The reason I don’t use this service is that the WiFi out of my camera is too slow and power intensive. This is a mistake, as these technologies will improve. Oh wait, now i hear this is about money. Cloud storage is cheap, so this again is foolish and opens the market to someone else.

@@jchawkjr2 In theory it was possible to download a raw file with the canon app, to a canon cloud and that cloud could be synchronized to the adobe cloud.
This is why I never use the cloud for storage.
