Like you J, I started it on sport bikes. One of my sons was showing a lot of interest in choppers. I bought him a used one(of the 4 Harley's of bought never once had a mechanical issue), that was my first time riding one and even tho it's a hardtail, I was impressed. Now I own a Dyna and a Heritage Classic and I love then both. For me, riding them, I feel like the man I am.

I rode an old school Dyna wide glide for years. 2002 with carbed 88 motor. Awesome idle. But after awhile my azz would kill me. I couldn’t do long trip on it even with mustang touring seat. I can ride heritage softail WAY longer and days at a time. Even on stock seat. I didn’t realize how stiff the Dyna wide glide was until I got my heritage softail. But I still love the old wide glide. I just needed one I could travel on and the softail had been much better

Old Softail < Dyna < New Softail. Had a rubber mount Sportster, wanted a big twin, thought Dyna was the go to chassis for my aggressive riding style. Tried the Dyna Low Rider S and an Softail Fat Bob S back to back, New Softail chassis is far superior to Dyna. Knew in the back of my head I wanted to get away from the rubber mounted motor, and get something more rigid, compact and lighter. For example the 60lbs difference between a Rubber mount and solid mount Sportster. Weather the bike was counter balanced or not wasn't a concern, I was shopping for a motorcycle not a vibrator. The stock M8 114 was quicker than the tuned TC 110. A new FXFBS ended up being cheaper than the used FXDLS, I couldn't be more happy with my decision, bike gets tons of looks and compliments, and it only gets better from here.

I have owned both a softail and a Dyna. My preference is the softail. Being on the short side (5'6" tall) the softail fits me WAY better. If comes down to preference. I bought my Softail Slim S (in olive gold) brand new and will never sell it. I had a Dyna Switchback that I really did not like. Not that it was not a good bike. It just really did not fit me.

Nice videos, So i get the idea, but what about now with no new dynas on the market? Is this new softail range achieved the dynaMic ride and cool factor that you mention?
Looking forward on your next video with new softail review!

I really like the new softail it was needed , but there is something in the dyna that gives it a little extra for me . It was an acquired taste for me at first but now its a staple . hope that helps and thanks for the comment .....lets ride !

@@patricio5717 low mileage pre owned dyna is worth every dollar you pay for it.and prices are very doable on these bikes,a fraction of new bike prices.big plus also the harley tax has already probably been paid, another cost saver

so its ok and actually good not all people like the dyna glides it leaves more of em for us that love em.the shake and vibration and stop lights and sitting still at intersections is part of this line of bikes and i personally cant be on a bike without that factor.and that once underway all of that is gone and the smoothness overwhelms and calms the soul.so yeah especially now since production has stopped and they are of limited quantities, its all good that they arent for everyone..peace..

If you want a dyna. Buy a sportster and save some money.
Or buy a new m8 softail and get a much better bike.
Wish they would have named them something else. They aren’t like the old softail as at all.
