Thanks for .among so many easy to follow videos. I have watched several of your videos now and feel like I've learned from eachone . You seem well educated in what you are eplaining, but don't get overly technical or condescending while explaining everything. My husband and I are still years away from building our own house but I feel like I won't be scared for us to work on electrical since I've been following your tutorials. When the time comes, I will be sure to track your Amazon store down and buy several of the things we need through you so you are compensated for teaching us how to build it ourselves.
You are a total badass. You make everything simple and safe. You are a true DIY teacher!
Thanks! I just tried to make my videos as if I was training a new hire. I appreciate you watching!
Absolutely best description I've seen, thanks for all the videos they've been instrumental in plumbing and wiring our new home build
This is one of the easiest wiring videos to understand for three way switches. Keep up the great work. Your channel will grow in no time.
Thanks Austin! I try to keep it easy to digest. Most things in construction isn’t too complicated once you study it. Thanks for watching!
Dude you are a pro at teaching.
Thanks Lou! Making these videos is how I learned 😃. I Appreciate your comment!
I agree should be teaching at a college
I understand very little groin but the way you put the examples are excellent thank you very much for the information I wish you much success
Another good job. Thanks for the mental training download.
Fantastic video and very well explained. Channel is growing fast and you deserve every like and view. SOOOO happy for you Josh!!
Thanks Thor! I know hallway wiring isn’t a super popular topic but I know it could help someone out there. I appreciate your support friend and I mean that!
Thank you for all the information.
I love your content! Be safe out there everyone 💜💜💜
Nice, neat work. Currently owner-building New home. Gonna have a professional to help on the electrical, great way to keep an eye on him! Tile, insulation, wood flooring, painting, of interest. Gonna let the young guys do the drywall, I'll work the level 5 finish.
Your videos are amazing! You should put in the led recessed lighting. They’re so cheap and look very clean. I’ve been slowly removing every bulb fixture from my house haha
Thanks friend, this was most helpful
Another great one Josh, thanks 👍🏻
Thanks a lot!
It's also a good idea to label line and load on the wire sheathing - not always needed, but is a nice touch if there are helpers who were absent when initial install was done. More so it makes for extra neatness with consistency of installation throughout the house. Great Video as usual!
Oh yeah that’s definitely a good idea especially if you have people helping you like you said. I will be wiring the switches myself so I will know how I wired it. Thanks a lot for your input! I love hearing tips from viewers!
@@TheExcellentLaborer I fired them all. Yep. Every last one of them!! I fly solo now as It works best with just me and Louis and Ralph - not to mention it minimizes liability and there is no Pete n Re-Pete to undo and redo what they inevitably will mess up
I’ll tell you what, I work alone most the time too. It is just way more relaxing and I feel like I get more done than having to make sure my helpers are staying busy. I might be a little bit of an introvert😃
@@TheExcellentLaborer ditto To The Maaax!
Another great one Josh, thanks
You are welcome!
Good job thanks
Thank you Sir!

Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Your videos are great! I’ve watched several and they’re very informative.
I have a question regarding installing romex.
In a new construction environment, instead of running your romex horizontally through your walls is it an acceptable practice to run
up a wall and overhead and then come down the wall at your next desired
location?
My concern would be that the romex could stepped on if there is an open attic area above. Are there code restrictions regarding doing this?
Any comments would be appreciated. Thx.
Good job I would like to do it , I have knowledge about electrical work but I have not job or somebody to help me to practice like you to be in the field
These videos are awesome! Very straightforward and simplified for all stages of learners to construction. 5 star Chanel all the way !!! Thanks Josh!
Hey Matt! The goal I have always had was to make construction easy to learn on RUclips. I feel like everyone should have the opportunity to build their own house if they desire to. Thanks a lot Matt for watching!
Same here your great 👍
Thanks Bruno! I try to upload twice a week so stay tuned!
Good👍🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Daenerys!
How do you do the low voltage wiring from panel for AC?
Thanks for sharing!👍🏼
No problem. Thanks for watching!
What is the code for using 12/2 with White labeled as a traveler? Reason i ask is what if you have multiple 3 ways in a box. Do I have to run 12/3 for each of the switches?
Can you put just a regular light in the hallway?
Another great one Josh, thanks
Thanks a lot for watching!
Curious, what would you name them?
I do most hall way with motions switch..)
So would the hallway plug and switches be on their own breaker or would that one plug be apart of the breaker in the bedroom and the hallway lights/switches on a breaker by themselves?
It all depends on how you want to wire it. Its your call. Either way will be fine. Hope that helps!
Can I run my 12/2 home run to the 3 way switch, then run 14/3 from switch to switch, then 12/2 from there to the lights? This is because I have a ton of 12/2 romex and want to only buy 14/3 for the short distance
Just run 12-3 lol
For the smoke detector, 14/3 , it can come from the switch?
If the circuit is 15 AMP it shouldn't be a problem. Hope that helps!
Have maybe a 8 hallway and had to install a duplex receptacle when I installed my central vac system. A few years later purchased an LED night light with built in photo eye. Bottom halve is a receptacle. So nice having a automatic two level night light in any hallway. Never a fan of the cheap flimsy blue light special garbage blue wall cases. Best practice is to use quality fiberglass or metal boxes. Fiberglass boxes easier to seal and provide a longer fire rating then the cheap blue plastic boxes. Ha
I’m only 13 but I am thinking about being an engineer so this might help
Welp time to skip my civics project for this
I’m gonna fail
I’m glad to see the youth interested in construction. Good luck with your studies!
@@TheExcellentLaborer thanks I ended up doing my civics project and got an A on it 😎
Does it matter if your lights are first, middle or at the end in respect to coming from the breaker box?
Are you referring to coming from the switch? Actual lights would never be hooked to a panel box directly.
@@TheExcellentLaborer Yes coming from the switch.
Can anyone answer my question because there are no videos for this. How do you install 2 3 way switches in a double gang box??
What if you bought a house that has recessed lights not 4.5 feet apart?
I'm here! 👍🏻
Hey Austin!
I just wired them all together. Oops! Something just popped. Now my lights are out. Help!!
Where are you based out of
USA!
Is Josh your name?
Why are you using #12 wire?
Hi Alfredo! I use 12 wire so I can put it on a 20 amp circuit. I feel like it’s just easier to not have to think about if I’m going to use 14 two or 12 two. If I use 12 wire I know I have plenty of room for amperage. Thanks for watching!
Love your videos. But the music is toooo loud and unnecessary. Thanks for all the great tips.
Thanks! I will take your feedback seriously. I appreciate that. You are welcome. Thanks for watching!
@@TheExcellentLaborer If you were in the Northeast I would be happy to volunteer to help you. Keep up the great work. I like your thinking quality but economically.
Drill bits… get those supplies listed.
They are in the electrical list now!
I want to see and learn how to build cheap houses
Rabbit tail = microphone
What fool started calling them "3-way switches" when the only possible light fixture conditions are ON and OFF? If I unscrew a light bulb to turn it on/off is it a 3-way bulb?
Haha this comment is great! Thanks for watching!
@@TheExcellentLaborer I calls 'em like i sees 'em boss.
There are 3 terminals rather than 2.
Why are you usung 12/2 for the switches and led lights? Thats so unnecessary... 14 guage is plenty
Anyone else here trying to a solve circuit problem from their grade 9 science class? 😄
Do you know there’s about six ways to wire a three-way switch I bet you didn’t know that
Follow the national electrical code not your town code not your local building codes national electrical code if you’re going to have videos on his channel you should least know what you’re talking about when it comes to the Code book
Another great one Josh, thanks
