The part where he HAD to say the command twice, was dead on.
It's actually better than my google assistant experience.
And then it reported nothing. It disarmed the security system...
@@NathanielSkinnerMusic More actually, the report was that the system is currently disarmed, not that the system was just disarmed. Their command and response syntax should not be judged based on current capabilities. You have to keep in mind that speech processing was in its infancy at that time.

They nailed that model TV - incredible how similar it is today's flat screens.
Considering the first experimental flat-panel displays were developed in the 1960's, by 1989 the development process was probably well along. Making them *affordable* by enough people to make them worthwhile building was still a few years away.
They didn't really catch on until Sharp entered the wall-mount TV market in 2003/2004. I believe it was called the Aquos (spellcheck) if I remember right. @@SenileOtaku
The home itself looks insanely modern for 1989.
Not really just a middle class or higher class home, we've had the same plain design for forever now, never liked it never will. Doesn't even feel like a home more like a studio

This is as convincing as that Chinese Ev smart car that failed to drive off the stage so they had someone dim all the stage lights and some intern to sneak back into the car to drive off the stage...
I think it's more that people try to imagine what life would be like in the future, and these ideas are sometimes used in demonstrations like this. When technology catches up, the good ideas get made and the ones that suck don't. Star Trek didn't predict the flip phone, Motorola made what they remembered seeing on TV.
It’s called planning ahead.

Technology yes, fashion wise not so much 🤣🤣🤣
In 1994, while working for AT&T, I visited the AT&T Bell Laboratories in Murray Hills, New Jersey and that’s where, for the 1st time, I saw the 1st iPad and iPhone together with a mini show of some of their future applications in Real Estate and in Journalism. It was pretty impressive, so I laughed when the first iPad and iPhone came out for commercial use and Apple claimed to be the original creator. Of course, AT&T Bell Laboratories was sold so many times that somehow Steve Jobs was able to buy this technology and call it his own. Sure, Apple has perfected the technology, but the iPad and iPhone were not Apple’s original creation. In a way, that was a good thing because if it weren’t for Steve Jobs, this technology would have been junked into some basement and forgotten.

You mean we stopped dreaming?
Pretty much spot on, 30 years later we have this technology
@@minoanlight4545 We started improving our prediction model.
Nothing was toned down. Technology progresses on the same plane that society does. In the 1950's, with how society was living, we did fully picture flying cars, floating houses, and jet propulsion. They didn't call it the Space Age just for fun. After Kennedy was assassinated society was never the same, in the exact way after 9/11. People got more apathetic and cynical and stopped caring. It became a race to be the richest person at the bottom before a early death and a meaningless life.
