Its amazing at how accurate Microsoft was in predicting all these things we have today. Its also equally amazing that despite all these spot on predictions, they managed to fail spectacularly in their attempt to bring any of these to market.

Why is everyone laughing at this video? This was a pretty damn good prediction at where technology was headed.
I'm just surprised that Microsoft wasn't able to maintain its dominance if they had people with this kind of vision.

They had the vision, but they were wrong. It's not the home PC that controls everything, it's your smartphone. MS has the lowest phone penetration and Windows is quickly being run out of the consumer space by Android and iOS.

10melos And you call this a good vision? 'Please I'd rather do it myself!!!!!' You talk about network overload. Did you ever watch a vid to see what these Servers go through just to keep our email delivered or click us the information we Goggled? Well my Tesla-Like son sent me one and my mouth dropped at the size of these server networks and how they work. Again I say,'The Smart House is a Dumb-ass-making-man-Lazy-house.' Yeah! Living and doing in this physical planet is what makes earth such an experience. The poor kids today cannot sew a button on, iron a shirt if needed, just taught to pitch the old and buy a new one. The redundancy pitch-a-way buy a new one generation. It cost more to repair something than to buy a new one. And to top it all off 'The new things have a few really crappy parts that even break down in the first week or two of use. Maybe even on the first. This vid makes me sick. I do remember seeing 'future kitchens' but this is ridiculous... Now I will try to watch the rest without CRYING. ;-)

Microsoft's emphasis was not on smart phones, so they tried to downplay their role in our future society. All of these applications aren't used in our homes but in our pockets. But still, pretty close, just had a different business plan.
Now Microsoft is all about MS 360 subscriptions and Xbox, which would have made me back in 1999 giggle with delight. Seriously, the two best things ever from Microsoft were MS Word and Xbox Gamepass. Now, that's their whole company (and Cloud). Crazy to think about.
