sean- i'm so used to watching grown men open gear and regurgitate content in campy infomercials... you're starting to spoil me bro! thx for sharing. nice work.
I'm still not doing any video and yet I have the A1 and A7S3 but I enjoy watching your informative videos. I had the ZA 50 and now have the 50 GM. The balance of the GM on the cameras are better for me compared to the ZA 50. The focus accuracy is very noticeable. I'm glad I made the switch. Looking forward to hearing your opinion on the 50 GM. Now I'm just waiting for the high temperatures outside to drop to more normal Pacific Northwest temps - already in the 90s at 9 am is crazy for this area.
Thank you for this guide. I'm a photographer, and I'm transitioning into video. I just bought the Sony FX3 and I'm looking for tutorials on color grading, utilizing and understanding the features of the camera. You have a new subscriber! I look forward to more of your videos.
Hi Sean, I saw you on the last David's video (How to Beast), just wanted to let you a thumbsup and support your channel ! Realy cool editing and explanations, hope you'll do some videos on the Nikon Z6 and/or Z7 (I'm on Z6), just to know what you think about this little magic box. ;)
I have the cf express type A and yeah, was super bummed to learn that I “needed” to buy a special reader. (Wasn’t happy to buy an expensive card reader for an already expensive card) As a work around I’ve been pulling the data directly from the USB-C port on the camera body. I’m sure the performance takes a hit by way of comparison. But it gets the job done for now.
Awesome video.. so I'm new to this. I have the A7siii, does it not actually appear to be in "slow motion" until you edit it? Bc I tried to shoot 4k slo mo for the first time today and it played back in full speed. Excuse my ignorance, I am new.
Hey Joshua - yes, you'll need to slow it down in post. Don't worry, all of the frames are there. Check out my first SLOG3 video. I get into slowing down footage in Premiere Pro in there at some point.
Is there a reason you are rotating the blur? To be honest, it seems you think that the 0° setting is "off", when in fact it is the direction of the blur (which is horizontal for 0°). 97° seems a bit arbitrary as well. Seeing as how your motion is up and down, I'd set the motion blur at 90° (vertical blur), and leave it at that. From there, keyframe the amount of blur going in that 90° direction (start at zero, then keyframe to whatever you deem fit).
I agree and that was an oversight on my end. The blur direction should match the direction of the action. I'll pin this comment in hopes that it clears it up. Thank you for this.
For All-intra shoots, Lexar v90 cards are on sale now or you can get the integral ultima pro v90 cards too. Cheaper options with no compromises on performance. Thank me later. Welcome.
Hey bro when your record slow motion during a workout and then return to shooting at your normal frame rate which Eg. Would be like 50FPS or do you record to whole workout in 120FPS I don’t understand how it works
If you shoot majority of your clips at 50FPS and do like 2 clips of slow mo at 4K 120FPS and import the clips in the timeline what do you render the video at ??? 50FPS or 120FPS ??
Question: Is XAVC-HS 4k24 at 50mbps equal in quality to XAVCS 4k24 at 100mbps? I ask because I checked both codecs at 100mbps and they both give me the same amount of record time. But I’ve heard ppl on YT say that XAVC-HS gives you more record time..but its doesn’t. Thats why I want to know if 50mbps on HS is the same as 100mbps on regular S. In that case then yea you get more record time
Yo! I've never done the math on record times so I'm not sure, I'm too dumb for that. I'm typically just deciding between quality and storage workflows. I also rarely film in anything less than the maximum bit rates so I'm really not sure on this. Did you find an answer? Sorry for the delay.
@@seandewispelaere You can check the record time on the camera. So it looks like 100mbps on XAVC-HS gives you the same record time as 100mbps on XAVCS. After comparing the two I can’t find any quality difference. So basically I can’t find a reason to use XAVC-HS over XAVCS if they have the same quality and record time. Bc XAVC-HS is much harder on a computer than XAVCS
Nice video but man.. the amount of rendering you Mac users put up with. Give me whatever you spent on that mac and I'll build you a Windows machine that makes you forget what rendering is.
I use 4K 120 when my wife is walking around in her bikini. I don’t mind using 1/500 shutter speeds either. Easier to get sharp stills out of those frames. 😁
@@seandewispelaere My eyes are looking for clarity but I’ve never noticed jitters. Just looks really sharp and the subject is pleasing to my eyes. 😄 Honestly, I usually use 1/250. First time I went higher was for better exposure and I was happy to see so many sharp frames. I wouldn’t use higher ss for much else though. Just on my wife. 😁
@@seandewispelaere I got some more slow motion bikini footage of my wife a few days ago. 😁 I can now definitively say I prefer a higher shutter speed. I used 1/320 or 1/400. I can’t remember. 😫 (Is there a way to use inspector on video files?!?) Anyway, I like the fact that each frame is sharp but I also noticed the “body jiggles” are more pronounced. That could come down to personal preference but if a good looking female body has no jiggles I’m highly disappointed. I’m not looking for a bowl full of jello in an earthquake but I want to see a woman with curves have a little jiggle. Heck, even track and field athletes jiggle a bit in slow motion. Sorry if this is TMI but I’m just being an honest husband who appreciates his wife’s sexual appeal. I’d be a fool for not wanting to capture it on video. Oh and I used my gimbal for the first time too. So the video turned out fantastic. Most fun I’ve had in a very long time. 😎
Thanks for the follow up. I'd agree that is is a personal preference. I prefer the motion blur and smoothness in most scenarios of a double the frame rate for the shutter. Happy wife...
Insane attention to detail and everything is always super well explained. Legend!
Really cool of you to say that, David - thank you
I love how you explain your tuts, so clean and clear
Thanks, Daniel, I'm happy to hear that they land well for you
Good thorough tutorial. Still not fully understanding why 4K is so popular for content that is only going to RUclips.
I can see that. I like the cropping flexibility especially in 120p

Appreciate it and I'll be sure to always be different
Fabulous video like always man 🤙 that 30p is so smooth and works even better than 24 I'd argue. Love to see your channel growing man ❤️ keep it up

nice video thanks and thanks for responding to all my questions.

Such a good lens. I hear the heat wave is rough! I'm from Seattle, my family is still there, and they aren't ready for that heat.
Really well explained - Thanks again.

Came here from How to Beast...damn your production quality is solid

Great tutorials!!! as always. Thanks.
Thanks, glad you like them
perfect tutorial!! thanks
I'm sure I messed up in a few areas, but thank you, glad you liked it, Ian

For real?!?! That is incredible, how's it going?
@@seandewispelaere very well amazing by its quality
Great video man
Thank you and thanks for checking out the channel
XAVC S-I 4K 120P works only in S&Q Mode without Audio. The normal XAVC S-I Mode do not record in 120P, not even with a CF Express.
Thanks!
