The thing with Davy Jones is, he is in a constant state or anger and depression because of what Calypso did. He cries in Dead mans Chest when he angrily slaves over his organ and he cries here when he feels his heart come closer, a part of him is still deeply in love with Calypso. But most of hims is angry at himself for still having feelings for her, after all, she betrayed him then cursed him. When they fell in love Davy Jones agreed to the task of fairing the souls of those lost at sea to the other side so long as once every ten years he could come ashore to be with the woman he loved. To him the 10 years of service was worth the one day to be with her, but when she no longer came to him and left him he was so overcome with heart ache that he cut out his own heart to be rid of his feelings for her, and then she cursed him to the state he is in, and he quit fairing souls to the other side in rebellion and taught the Pirate court how to bind her into her human form. And then anyone who has his heart has control of him. Once the Dutch East India Company has it, he’s as enslaved to them as Vader is to the Emperor. Both of them are heartbroken, with nothing to live for, and utterly trapped, and they know it and that’s why they’re angry.

Darth Vader: Hates Sand Davy Jones: Cannot walk on land so still Hates Sand Darth Vader : Heartbroken Davy Jones: Heartbroken Darth Vader : changes personality Davy Jones: changes personality Darth Vader: became a puppet of a mastermind. Davy Jones: became a puppet of a mastermind. So many similarities of these two
What I love about Davy Jones is that he isn't entirely pure evil like most movie antagonists, rather, he is a tragic antagonist who was once a noble sailor who looked after those who died at sea for ten years. Which was a task given to him by his former lover Calypso. And in return, she promised to be with him for one day after those ten years. But when Jones discovered that Calypso wasn't there when he expected her to be after ten years, he believed she had betrayed him. Which lead him down the path of piracy and he turned the pirate Brethren against her. Declaring that if she were removed from the world, they would be able to claim the seas for themselves. This of course lead to Jones and his crew assembling the first brethren court and teaching them how to imprison Calypso in her human form. However, even after betraying Calypso, deep down, Jones still loved her. So out of despair and guilt for what he had done, he carved out his own heart and placed it in the dead man's chest. His backstory is so tragic that you almost feel sorry for him in the end. He could have redeemed himself, but instead,he let himself be consumed by vengeance and betrayal. Which ultimately lead to his demise.
One of the most heart wrenching moments I've watched in a very long time. Its so sad because on a practicality level a lot of people have felt this way with somebody.
It’s even more sad when you realize that Calypso was probably the only thing keeping Davy Jones going for all those years only for her to not be there when he could finally be with her
To be honest if someone I love so deeply that I am willing to give everything up for them and only able to set foot on land and see them once every 10 years just for them to ditch me on that one day I would probably lose my shit too. Man is a giver and she’s a taker who gives non back. He just needs a healthier relationship
You know, Davy Jones. . .it isn't bad to cry. Because it shows you're still human, despite cutting your own heart out and doing abominable things. Despite all the blood you shed. . .you're still human.
How I describe them: •Hector Barbossa - The *Honorable* One •Davy Jones - The *Tragic* One •Cutler Beckett - The *Manipulative* One •Blackbeard - The *Power-Seeking* One •Armando Salazar - The *Vengeful* One Any additional thoughts??
Just keep in mind that Davy Jones is not the real antagonist he is just a man who fell in love with a goddess and she betrayed him. He did what Calypso told him do and she WASN'T there when he return after being gone for 10 years. Which is why Davy Jones is my favorite character because he wasn't evil to begin with.
the fact he feels complete regret and sadness after obliterating a ship makes this scene hit so much more. he hates everything he does and you almost feel like you get why it happened.
Having watched a lot of movies and movie sagas in my life, I learned that there are three types of villains. I know, you probably heard this a million times, but just hear me out. The three villain types are as follows: the villain you feel sympathy for, the villain who you absolutely hate with vengeance, and the villain who’s just too awesome to hate. For Pirates of the Caribbean, the villains for their respective types are as follows: Davy Jones fits category number 1 because of how he treated Calypso, and having cut out his heart only to feel the emotions when its near, that kinda makes you sad when you think about. As for villain number 2, the one you just hate more than anyone, we have to put Lord Cutler Beckett in that spot. There’s absolutely nothing redeemable about him, as he seeks nothing less than total control of the sea, and in a deleted scene with Jack Sparrow, we learn that he once contracted him to bring him a cargo of slaves to the New World, but Jack liberated the slaves, which caused Beckett to brand him as a pirate. And as for the third type of villain, Barbossa, hands down. Though he becomes more of an antihero in At World’s End, his badassery is still not to be messed with. But these are the 3 villain types for Pirates of the Caribbean. Keep an eye out for the types of villains you encounter when you watch an adventure movie, show, etc.
Love can be cruel sometimes and the pain may be hard to bear. I feel sorry for Davy because his beloved betrayed him and wasn't there to greet him. Then he was so angry that he cut out his own heart so that he couldn't feel any emotions or love again after what she had done to him. Very sad kinda makes feel even more sad for the guy.
Did you know the reason he got angry after he realized a tear came out of his eye was because he could only express emotions when his heart was near him and that had meant the British who stole his heart was on the ship.
The reason of why he feels anger at the end of the song is because he is noticing that he is having emotions and he only have emotions when his heart is near so he knows that his heart is in the ship

Darth Vader: became a puppet of a mastermind.
Davy Jones: became a puppet of a mastermind.
So many similarities of these two
He is, the Darth Vader of the Ocean.
@@mysteryman5582 yes my thoughts exactly
I love the overlapping of the organ with the music box 0:14
Just by having his heart close he could feel so much pain, imagine if it were inside his chest.
He was heart broke for what the women he had loved did to him.
As a kid, we love the heroes
As an adult, we understand and relate to the villains
Exactly 💯
My love will never Die
You know, Davy Jones. . .it isn't bad to cry. Because it shows you're still human, despite cutting your own heart out and doing abominable things. Despite all the blood you shed. . .you're still human.
Facts
To a certain extent he is.
Well it was bad for him. Basically the closer his heart is to him the more he feels. Him crying means the chest was near him.
Davy Jones is not really a bad guy, he only has his heart broken
It's difficult to don't fell bad for him 💔☹
How I describe them:
•Hector Barbossa - The *Honorable* One
•Davy Jones - The *Tragic* One
•Cutler Beckett - The *Manipulative* One
•Blackbeard - The *Power-Seeking* One
•Armando Salazar - The *Vengeful* One
Any additional thoughts??
Rest in peace pop smoke 💫
Favourite scene in any movie ever
For me, the best scene of entire movie. Sad, beauty and deep…
poor davy jones :(
Just keep in mind that Davy Jones is not the real antagonist he is just a man who fell in love with a goddess and she betrayed him.
I love characters like this. The ones you hate but feel so sorry for.
I never imagined that I would be so upset when I grow up for a character that scared me out of fear when I was a child.
Right after the end of video, my laptop froze
Lol
This Organ Track ist so Wonderful!!!
Davy Jones have tear because when Cutler Beckett bring his heart he can introduce his feelings
For Pirates of the Caribbean, the villains for their respective types are as follows:
Davy Jones fits category number 1 because of how he treated Calypso, and having cut out his heart only to feel the emotions when its near, that kinda makes you sad when you think about.
The anger he expresses over his tear makes the scene just that little bit more powerful.
This theme is the best villain theme ever
Man, this guy really didn't deserve all the sufferings!
Just a man in love, now a man with a broken heart
Love can be cruel sometimes and the pain may be hard to bear. I feel sorry for Davy because his beloved betrayed him and wasn't there to greet him. Then he was so angry that he cut out his own heart so that he couldn't feel any emotions or love again after what she had done to him. Very sad kinda makes feel even more sad for the guy.
Man, it's this scene and the "she pretended to love me. She. Betrayed. ME!" That both make me tear up, I resonate with him so much in that aspect lol
Bill's mannerisms are astonishing. His face is very expressive.
When he seas his tears and becomes mad is the most relatable thing ever
I wish there was sheet of this. I can tell its just scales but its so pretty
I have never sympathised with a villain so much...
Honestly you feel the emotion behind this tragedy a lot more if you have known this type of sadness at some point in your life.
Did you know the reason he got angry after he realized a tear came out of his eye was because he could only express emotions when his heart was near him and that had meant the British who stole his heart was on the ship.
This music is the only thing that connects him to his past, who he really is 🎶💔❤ The only thing that triggers, touches the last HUMAN feelings 💓😢
Who came to hear the pop smoke sample?
I always how his organ playing is integrated into the soundtrack. Like its present in the world but also sets the mood for the audience
What you feel like and look like when you’ve just been dumped by text this should have been called
This man has got some seriously good organ skills.
Tbf you would to if your beard was made of tentacles.

Amazing setup for a villain, it’s treated with such tender movement and the sounds help
He doesn’t want to feel emotions because he doesn’t want to feel pain again, that’s why he hates his heart being around him
I love how the tentacles on Jones’s face slowly begin to writhe in fury as he shifts from pain to anger.
30 seconds is perfect. You can replay it more often :) Besides just like in music, if epic part is shorter, it is kind of unique, more powerfull.
Seeing him like this reminds me I’m not the only one who longs for someone they love to come back into their lives…
Sometimes, I love hearing this, when I am sad.
