At first I was thinking why the hell get that close. Then I realized how fat the bear is, I doubt he wants to eat a guy right then. I still wouldn’t ever get that close to a massive wild animal...
Kodiak bears aren't really killing machines that are great for fighting as most people seem to think. Most of the big ones are overweight. For exmaple look at this bear, its stomach is literally touching the ground. Being overweight is a disadvantage in a fight, not an advantage.
Ummm...they are the second most deadliest bear, next to Polar Bear. Please don't get it confused. These bear are killing machines, EQUIPPED for fighting....and he could still easily run 20 mph at this weight. If it wants you dead- you're dead.
@@davidleonard7439 No they are not. They live on the Kodiak island and on it there are no animals which could pose a threat to them. 90% of their non plant diet are salmons. There are no other animals which compete for food with them and there are no bisons either. Most of the large Kodiak bears are overweight and as such clumsy as well. They are power houses that is true but they aren't these unstoppable killing machines that people usually think they are. They live in an environment where they have no natural enemies and no competition, they aren't used to fighting anything aside from other bears. Plus as I said being overweight is a disadvantage in a fight, not an advantage. Most of the time they are lazy which is normal considering they don't hunt big animals to survive. They get as big as they get because there is a huge amount of salmons in the areas where they live so they rarely go on long periods without eating anything. The polar bear is a carnivore which actively hunts, the kodiak bear is not.
@Scp 3812. I said most of the enormous Kodiak Bears are overweight, not all Kodiak Bears obviously. Read my comment again. A brown bear which weights 1600 pounds cannot be not overweight. That's like a 1000 pound tiger or lion.
@Scp 3812. Yes but in the wild it happens very, very, very rarely. The average weight of a brown bear in USA is 600 pounds (700-800 in Canada and Alaska). Bears that surpass 1500 pounds are always overweight because that simply isn't their natural weight standard. There are 600 pound humans in the world surprisingly but they are also overweight (horribly overweight in fact) because 600 pounds is very far from the biological ideal weight standard for humans. There are videos and pics of the supposed biggest Kodiak bear that is regularly being filmed and interacting with people because it supposedly got used to humans. The claims are that it weights 1900 pounds. I don't know if the claims are true but the bear looks like a literal ball. It is wider than it is tall.
Dont think its that large. But its very fat. Not taken care of with enough space. And yes, I have seen them up close. Can look small on video when they stand in the river hunting salmon, but when they come up close they are like a horse. Very large and powerful.
@@morpheus2953 I don't disagree....but keep in mind that, Polar bear are ALSO hunters, as well as carnivores, which plays a big role in their intelligence and experience. I say, a tiger would kill a sub-adult Polar bear....but a FULL grown male or mother with cubs, near, would most likely tear a tiger to shreds
They have like 10x our amount of muscle they’re actually able to run at probably 15mph at this weight still easily, because they can run like 25-30 mph if they’re super lean and fit
