Good Afternoon! How is everyone doing today?
Getting ready to make a marshmallow mess! Thanks for the videos 😃
About to make some hot chocolate!!
You're so awesome Claire, all your videos are so enjoyable to watch and of course they're so informative. Also, I would buy that "MMM" merch, regardless of what it is. You make Thursdays better, with Dessert Person and you're killin it.
What happened to Felix? 😭
Hi Claire! Have a good day! Thank u for always showing us the ropes ☺️
“Obviously this is like a big fu**ing marshmallow” made me laugh more than necessary.
She probably said "big fluffy marshmallow," which makes it even funnier!
great editing there lmao
SAME! I want Claire to curse more. Claire Swears!
Same 😂
I keep thinking of how wholesome her videos are, and then we hear her talking like a sailor. 😂
Need like a 20 minutes video of those nature sounds and Claire just drinking hot chocolate and reading a book or something that was relaxing.
The new Lofi girl
Yeah, I inadvertently spaced out during "room tone" time and went "Man, I need that on a loop." Very peaceful
The editor knows what we want better than we do.
Claire Saffitz x ASMR
And occasionally murmuring "mmm"!
I really like how the editing team messes with Claire. I don't think she actually said big f*cking marshmallow, willing to bet it was fluffy, but it was funnier to put the bleep in :D
nah lol i read her lips and she said it lmao. she curses frequently tho so it's not that inconceivable :')
They’re so funny, the crashing noise when she tossed something in the sink got me
@@szthbnsfprdctn Oh I read "fluffy" marshmallow on her lips haha! But fair enough!
she definitely said fluffy! you can hear the second F sound after the bleep
She is living an ideal life. I’m so jealous, the cabin, the job, the outdoor oven. This is such a perfect life.
Every time Claire tastes something she makes, I always say “mmm” in my head because she usually says it 😂. I love how she pointed that out. I’d love a shirt with cartoon Claire and Felix eating something and it says “mmm.” 🤍🙏🏻
Better yet, Claire and Felix with “Verdict: mmm”
Claire’s is a “mmmm” whereas Carla Lalli Music is more like “MMM!”
@@xyzpdq1122 Claire's is a satisfied "mmmm" and Carla's always sounds like a surprised "MMM!"
Kind of the like the end of the intro where Claire and Felix are chilling and she's got the fork with a bite on it. But maybe adjusted to where she's taken a bite out of it, looking away wistfully with the bite in her mouth (cheek lightly poofed out indicating the food is there).
SAME THOUGH
I’m with Vinny- I would totally buy “MMM” merch!
having it be "verdict: mmm" would be PERFECT
i think Hanson owns the rights
Only when paired with BOP. 😂
Casually dropping an F bomb in the middle of a wholesome winter scene is the 2022 mood.
Vinny: You still have lines.
Claire: What am I, a machine?
Vinny: No, you’re Claire Saffitz!
🤣🤣🤣
gourmet makes flashbacks
Claire Saffitz, Dessert Machine?
Truer words were never spoken 🤭😂
@@fionaclaphamhoward5876 That's the title of the next book and it's all complicated recipes
I really like it when vinny asks questions, it makes me feel lik I’m in the room with them listening to the conversation 😌
That shot of Claire sipping the hot chocolate was the most beautifully calming thing I've ever seen.
Ever since Claire started her own RUclips channel, my baking got better, the sky got brighter, grass was greener, the economy stabilized, my skin got clearer, I won an Oscar, StayC won a Grammy, I met Megan Thee Stallion, IU had a comeback, and Hotel del Luna got a second season.
I NEED “Verdict: MMM” merch !!! It has made an almost daily appearance when my bf and I eat anything good haha
Idk how Claire manages to figure out what thing I have been thinking of cooking. I was looking up how homemade marshmallows are done the other day.
Her cherry pie video went up one day after i was thinking i should make a cherry pie. Jedi mind tricks!!
I've seriously never thought about making my own marshmallow before, but now I wanna give it a go.
If you like marshmallows, homemade will blow them out of the water
My mind is now focused on how I'm going to be able to show off that I can make homemade marshmallows.
Same here!
I love cutting them with cookie cutters!
They are so delicious. Once you have them homemade, it will be hard to ever buy them at the store again. Consider yourself warned! Nothing like hot chocolate with a delicious homemade vanilla almond marshmallow 😋
Claire has big sister energy. As someone with only younger siblings, Claire is someone I love to watch and look up to ☺
I would give absolutely everything just to spend a day with Claire and Vinny in that little house in the woods, drink some hot chocolate and "mmm" our way into the evening.
that should be a healing retreat concept that i would actually pay money to go to
Claire saying "we're almost there" while handling the kitchenaid is like a midwife feeling the womb for labor
My immediate thought too!
Exactly!😄
Corn syrup is not available where I live, so I replaced it with a 50/50 mix of sugar and water, or actually 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water, just boiled the sugar solution a bit longer. The marshmallow came out simply fabulous, never had it better in my life. Thank you, Claire, for the recipe!
THANK YOU SO MUCH (10 months later lol) I was just about to ask this! 🤗
Honey works too 😊
Of course! Honey is always better than sugar.
That honey colored kitchenaid is so beautiful. I regret not getting that one
It's the same color I have and I love it SO MUCH
THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! I've been daydreaming about the best marshmallow I've ever had since I was like 10 years old. Every time I look into recipes, they're always so heavy on the corn syrup that I know I won't like it. Thank you for blessing the 10 year old inside of me with this video
Claire looks so pretty and peaceful at the end when they're recording the forest sounds :]
I've found a cool hack for those unfortunate to not have a mixer. You can beat your egg whites to stiff peaks with a whisk if you put it in between your palms and quickly rub them 😁 I was so happy to find this out! Hopefully it helps someone! Merry Christmas everyone!
I love how the guys edit the videos for Claire’s entertainment when she gets to see them published, not just ours. For example at 4:43 hahahahah
weirdly, this is one of the things I truly miss after going vegetarian. I've tried to make vegan marshmallows before and it just... no. it is SO hard. but heck yes homemade marshmallows are elite.
I was wondering how these would work with agar. I’ve only had an agar Jello once and I wasn’t crazy about it because it was super hard and grainy. I haven’t had marshmallows or gummies for the last 8 years now 🙈
ditto! marshmallows (peeps!!!) and gummies are the only things i miss. there are some good vegan marshmallows but they are so expensive
From someone who's made marshmallows more than an amateur probably should, some tips:
- you will need read a lower temp on a candy thermometer than an instaread thermometer (learned this the hard way: Claire uses 245 F, while the candy thermometer I use would need 225 F)
- make sure you use the right amount of gelatin (scrape it *all* out of the container you're using to hold the melted stuff)
- hot chocolate/cocoa isn't the only drink you can have with marshmallows (my personal favorite is homemade eggnog and orange-nutmeg marshmallows)
- toppings after putting it in the pan are better than mix-ins because they won't defluff the marshmallow
- layering is possible but hard and you need to get the texture right on both (or more) layers for it to work
And then some personal favorite flavor combos: lemon-rosemary (using rosemary simple syrup), orange-nutmeg-almond, lemon meringue pie (1/2 lemon, 1/2 vanilla, crumbled graham crackers in between), and of course vanilla (but using vanilla paste instead of extract so that you can taste it more clearly and it leaves those signature little black specks).
I was thinking I needed hot chocolate today and then THIS HAPPENED. Thank you, Claire, my hot-chocolate-bringing fairy godmother.
Something I do with my hot chocolate is infuse it with a raspberry herbal tea so you get a chocolate and raspberry drink and its friggin delicious. Also very good with those chai tea mix.
Is it like what Claire did with the half water half milk? How did you make it, it sounds lovely? 😭😭
My friend used to drop in a peppermint tea bag
@@tatertot5673 I usually put hot choco powder (cause Im lazy and think some brands taste pretty good) put the bag in, add 3/4 boiling water 1/4 coffee cream and by the time I stop mixing the bag has already given plenty enough raspberry flavour and voila. Super simple, cheap and fast.
@@LTSmash414 Thats a good idea too for choco/mint. Basically any tea bag that has a choco friendly taste will do great.
@@willbear2173 Wow this sounds incredible I definitely have to try it. Thank you so much. 🥰
Proof that you don’t need a fancy kitchen to create delicious things! That being said, I would totally love to see what you end up doing with the space ❤️
Claire I was LITERALLY about to make hot chocolate when I saw this notification, thank you to all who worked on this video!💜
Alton Brown's recipe is reliable, delicious and closer to an American marshmallow that people are used to. But you should try Claire's version too.
Im getting a stand mixer for Christmas and I'm so excited to make everything on this channel. My coworkers are going to get all the foods.
Ohmagawh that marshmallow looked fluffy as fuck
So floofy 😩
bandstand, what da heck?
Can you get something more decadent than that? I don’t think so. You’re right on time for something incredibly soothing Claire. Thank you ❤️
Claire's casual F-bomb near the end caught me off guard and I started laughing 🤣 hot cocoa and marshmallows just do that
Hearing Claire swear (be bleeped) was more shocking than hearing my mom swear for the first time lol! I loved it!
Everything I have made from Dessert Person has turned out amazing except for the pomegranate and cranberry mousse pie - my whipped cream went kinda buttery and then I mixed it too much to get rid of the lumps so it lost a lot of air and it didn’t set. Was really disappointing but the silver lining was that I’m starting to understand why things go wrong and my baking generally has never been better - so thank you Claire!
Would be great to see how you tackle some of these more risky recipes, or the ones were things can go wrong with one small hiccup. Adore the book and can’t wait for the next one (when?)!
Adding arrowroot will help stabilize foam type recipes. Tasteless
once your whipped cream starts becoming butter, you need to start over with new cream. it's not really the recipe's fault 🤷♀️
@@Noreen_Ni_Riain it didn’t seem like they were blaming the recipe
Man I love the aesthetic of the kitchen rn in the back, it's so cozy and also I feel like I'm inside Claire's secret pastry recipe making domain
A few weeks ago i hadn’t seen bon appetite or you in years, so I checked but you didn’t do it anymore. My RUclips must of found you and out it on my interested list. I’m excited I found this RUclips channel because you are one of my favorite cooks/bakers
The cabin episodes add something extra I cannot explain but it is sooooo enjoyable...
Using half water, half milk in your hot chocolate - I feel SEEEEEEN!
If you ever build a regular kitchen in the cabin, please make a rénovation serie. Like how to organise a kitchen according to a chef.
Tried this for the first time today and they turned out soooo good. I used a 2:1 ratio of sugar to water because it's hard to find corn syrup where I live. Then I piped them into hearts for valentines day! They were way easier than I expected and I'll definitely be making these again.
I put your book on my Christmas list and I got it! I absolutely love it! It is beautiful and the few recipes I’ve already made are incredible!
Drinking that exactly right hot chocolate with that slowly melty marshmallow on a cold day is such a meditative experience. Man, I feel so relaxed!
Oh my gosh, Claire always knows what I need before I know I need it. I love cocoa with whipped cream but marshmallows rock.
I just finished work and needed something cozy to watch while I'm eating and relaxing. Perfect.
you are reflecting just PURE joy! love the vibes.
I love that y'all bleeped out "fluffy" at 18:45. You sneaky people, making us think that Claire's out there swearing like a sailor!
OK, you know you’re deeply engaged when you lick your own fingers when Claire does after touching the marshmallow! Thanks for making this so approachable.
Claire i haven't seen you in years since I stopped watching tv and absolutely love to see you in your home baking exactly the way we both do. It's like I found a long lost friend!
Ugh, we all love to see Our Lady Saffitz of the Desserts creating cosy and delicious things and not stressing out over them.
bahaha
All the mmm~ followed by laughter made my day! I need me some hot cocoa! Hehehe Ty dessert person 🙏🤣😍👏💛🍫☕
Claire said *sip* mm.. *giggle* x3. She’s so wholesome.
I really do adore the Cat cams at the end of every episode! They are a wonderful outro
I used Italian meringue for my lemon meringue pie this past Christmas and my husband said it was perfect. He admitted my version was better than any his mom ever made. 😅 Now I want to try this and make marshmallows for my family to go with out hot chocolate!
When I was like 12 I tried making homemade marshmallows and they were pretty decent, except the sugar kinda re-crystalized and I had little flecks of sugar clumps throughout. But it's been over ten years now and I have Claire's guidance so... it may be time to re-attempt! That square of marshmallow looked so divine 😍
I've been wanting to make homemade marshmallow for ages! Thank you for the recipe. Definitely going to make both!
Kinda having a rough day -your videos are definitely my comfort videos at this point. Hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows sound about perfect right now
Omg when she sipped the chocolate I felt thrust into the coziest hoodie in the dead of winter reading my favorite book. VIBES
I love videos at the cabin. Makes me feel peaceful.
I've been wanting to try making marshmallows at home for a while and this made it feel like it isn't as scary and intimdating as it sounds. I love how accessible you make patisserie recipes!!
Never ever imagined this is how marshmallows are made! Always thought was an industrial food you cannot replicate in a basic kitchen
I like the change from Fall to Winter in the window at 0:24 . That was a nice touch.
I'm glad she's doing her own thing, I do miss the interactions with her and Brad and the rest of Bon Appetit crew but being your own is also amazing
We love wholesome winter content ❤
This content is like sipping a warm cup of hot cocoa. Wait, that's what it is.
You can put frozen peas etc around your mixer bowl to cool your mixture. Same when you make Italian butter cream icing.
Sitting here drinking my nightly chai while watching this is truly the mental medication that I needed today. As always we Stan our queen 👑
I love all her baking. I would die to get her to develop a Bran muffin recipe it's my favorite!
I have always wanted to make my own marshmallows! Thanks Claire!
i love how they edit the background it's just so adorable
I really enjoy hearing the male voice in the background - asking questions that I was actually thinking. Thank you!
This episode is so satisfying 🥰 loved the nature sounds at the end! Ahhhhh
I was just talking to someone about making homemade marshmallows and wishing for a Claire video on how to make them! And here we are! I can't wait to try this out and make S'mores with the over abundance of graham crackers we have in the house!
claire looks so cozy in that hoodie she is so cute 🥺
I’m not really into baking, but I love watching these videos because they’re so cozy and fun
claire is my serotonin boost. thank u.
Claire + Dessert Person have made Thursday my favorite day of the week!
loved this episode, i will definitely try this!! esp in the cold winter days, this seems to be a real treat :)
Thank you for your video, your baking is so inspiring!
Always appreciate the value of an excellent teacher!
Hearing this video while doing pottery and is so relaxing
Yum!! Claire they look so delicious and surprisingly achievable to make, can’t wait to try this, I may have to wait till it’s winter here in Australia as it’s currently above 30 degrees each day 😂 I’d love a Claire-ified episode with questions about culinary school and what your experience was like! Enjoy the cabin, it looks so cosy!
Love the editing! Props to the editors!!
I followed Claire's tip about using the marshmallow as a topping for a lemon meringue pie and it was a hit! Delicious and fun to toast just before serving with friends. Will definitely be doing this again :)
I love the irony of her making a big deal about using as little milkfat as possible and just a spoonful of Agave, and the Cafe Du Monde sweatshirt...where they use 1/2&1/2 and cane sugar.
Claire you look so cozy out there
Happy winter
Claire I just love you and you make me even more excited to bake. I love your cook book and made the most amazing apple tarte for Thanksgiving with your amazing recipe! Thank you for sharing your amazing personality and talent with the world! Congrats on tour beautiful cabin and lovely chickens!! I Stan you!! Lol
Yum! I've been roasting my homemade marshmallows and didn't even think to put them in hot chocolate!
claire you delivered. this is fantastic. you are an icon.
100% would buy the MMMM merch :) love you Claire!
The part at the end with the cats is always my favourite
homemade marshmallows will be my first recipe with my new stand mixer now! I'm so excited!
What a great vibe at the end!
Wow you are almost at one million subs! Yay good job!!
I appreciate the humorous sound effects every once and a while.
OMG. I made these marshmallows yesterday. I coated them in chocolate and put them in the freezer. They are so good!! Pillowy soft with a hard chocolate shell. Mmm … Mmm … MMM!
It took me a second to realize nothing really broke in the sink when she lightly tossed the container with the egg whites in there. I was like why didn’t she even flinch. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Then I realized y’all added it in! 😂😂😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
That looks delicious! Also, I’m glad you also do half milk and half water. I recently tried that because I found myself not finishing hot chocolate because it’s so thick and heavy, but my husband thought it was blasphemous to use water hahah. I’m not into 100% water hot chocolate, but some water helps lighten it up!
We are waiting for up to 12 inches of snow here in WV so I am totally making these for hot chocolate!!! ❄️😍
This was so calming and such a delight thank you
Lots of extra points for the Café Du Monde sweatshirt ♡
