Yo I feel like my actual voice is deep but out of social anxiety I started speaking in a thin voice so I wouldn't be noticed by people around. I want to start speaking in my true voice again. I do try to do it when I'm alone it takes like 10mins for it to come but then it goes back again when I'm around people ( I get so self conscious, my frequency increases). I feel like firstly I should deal with my social anxiety?
Hi There, from what you're describing it sounds like your larynx (throat) is rising up and your vocal tract tightening. This is a somatic response to the anxiety you're experiencing. There's a lot more to shouting with control (in singing it's called belting) but since it's pressing, here's a simple exercise: A crucial aspect of projecting your voice, especially in scenarios requiring strong vocal presence without amplification, is engaging your core muscles effectively. Let's try a simple yet effective exercise that not only helps you project your voice but also builds confidence in your ability to be heard. Exercise: The Cab-Hailing Shout Warm Up: Begin with a gentle warm-up for your voice. Hum softly, gradually increasing volume, to get your vocal cords ready for action. This also helps reduce tension in your throat. Posture: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent. Ensure your spine is straight but not stiff. Good posture is key to allowing your voice to project freely. Breath Control: Focus on your breathing. Place one hand on your abdomen and breathe deeply through your nose, feeling your hand move out as your diaphragm expands. This is where your voice's power will come from. The 'Hey' Exercise: Imagine you're trying to hail a cab on a busy street. Take a deep breath in, engaging your abdominal muscles (the ones you feel moving under your hand). As you exhale, shout "Hey!" aiming to project your voice as far as possible. The goal is not just volume but clarity and control. Your core muscles should do the work, not your throat. Repeat: Practice this exercise daily, gradually increasing the volume and duration of your 'Hey'. Notice how engaging your core makes a significant difference in how your voice projects. Reflect: After each session, take a moment to reflect on the sensation of using your abdominal muscles to support your voice. This awareness will be invaluable when you're on the podium. Remember, the key to a commanding presence isn't just volume; it's about control, clarity, and confidence. By practising this exercise, you're not only preparing your voice for the parade but also building a foundation for powerful, confident speaking in any setting. I hope this helps! Keep practising, and I'm sure you'll do wonderfully. Your dedication to your role is already a strong step towards overcoming this challenge."
After complete examination, doctor said that there is glottic chink in the vocal folds that occur during phonation. It can be only treated through exercises.

This is a great video. Some feedback though. You explaining is much more engaging than the stock footage that's cut in. It's hard to follow what you're saying when the stock footage cuts in as it's distracting I find. You are animated and engaging and each time we cut away from you I feel like I'm missing the action.
Thank you genuinely for your feedback Brendan. It's actually a relief to hear you say that. The stock footage, although I quite enjoy sourcing and editing, is rather time consuming. it's a balance between trying to keep people engaged and delivering the information in an entertaining manner. I shall review my use of stock footage, thanks.
Hi Jimmy! Your videos helped me alot. Thank you for it. In my case, I am speaking mostly from my left side, may be because of poor posture. My voice tone, volume of my voice, articulation everything changed. Subconsciously I breathe from left side. Can you help how can I improve my voice. Thanks

Yes, it's similar, but the sound has been converted from analogue to digital, so it won't be a true representation of your voice.
