I recondmend a song I'll bet you've never heard before. It's called Heartless World by Teaze. They were a Canadian hard rock band from the 70s that never really crossed over. They had that one big radio hit up here. The high notes on the song are so insane and so long that one time I tried to mimic them while drinking and just about lost my voice lol. This is the only song that I have ever come across that is as intense with the vocals and long high notes.
Watching people's first reaction to this song is great. It starts off semi-mellow, then they pause the video... "Oh wow, he has a nice voice."... a few minutes later... "Oh. My. God."
Subhuman Race was great as well! I was not into it as much when I first bought it but then one day began playing the riff to Frozen and was like where did I hear that before cause I knew it was someone else's riff. Then it hit me oh yeah that new Skid Row album. I began listening again to the whole tape with a better frame of mind. It is simply great! Some of their best work EVER!
I was about a third of the way through your reaction when you mentioned how good Sebastian was at expressing emotion through his vocals. Made me literally laugh out loud for a second thinking how you hadn't seen anything yet with what was coming in the later half of the song. I discovered Skid Row on April 10, 1989, when I saw them open for Bon Jovi on the Jersey Syndicate Tour in Wichita, KS. I knew nothing about the band at the time. Had heard one of their songs, "I Remember You" on the radio, but hadn't realized it was the band I was about to see until they played the song as part of that show. But 15 seconds after Sebastian unleashed his vocals on the crowd, I knew I was going to the record store and getting that album the next day. (I miss those record stores, having music available at the click of a mouse is great, but the experience of just going to the store to search for new and interesting albums is one of those things today's generation just never gets to experience) I've been to probably 70 or so concerts since then (national tours, not counting local bar shows), and that night's performance by both bands is still in the top 5 for just all around fun concerts I ever saw, and it was only the second concert I had ever been too. Great way to start a life of enjoying live music. With Skid Row you had the just raw sound and my favorite vocalist ever. And Bon Jovi's show just had the pure spectacle with they pyro, the gangplank that allowed the band to run to the back of the arena and perform songs for the people with the worse seats in the house that was up there with the times I've seen KISS and Def Leppard for the best showmanship. Great night! Skid Row's first two albums are still some of my favorites after more than 30 years. It's just a shame they couldn't keep the band together. Both the band and Sebastian are still rocking though. Sebastian just released his fifth solo album "Child Within the Man" last month.

Great reaction, and great song. Definitely one of my favorite vocal performances of all time. So many different levels of expression. I think I heard Sebastian Bach blew out his voice when recording this song, I can see why.
The amazing thing is he can add the rasp to one line, then immediately follow it with a perfectly clean line. It adds so much emotion and texture to the song Likewise he never sings the lines of the song exactly the same way, he always varies the intonation and phrasing every time it comes around.
I remember when this came out and have always thought that this is one of the most outstanding vocal performances ever done. Plus Scotti Hills guitar solo matches it perfectly. I'm lucky enough to have had a couple of guitar lessons with Scotti and chat to him every now and then. He cites Jeff Beck as one of his major influences and I can hear that in this solo.
Oh I just love seeing new people react to Sebastian Bach. His vocal transitions in range going from high to low anything in between with rash growl power he was one of the best actually he still is. I seen skid row in Louisville Kentucky back in 1989 in concert and he sounded just like the production version no kidding he was amazing. Second to none and unmatched in some arenas. Gee whiz I could go on and on about how good he is but at 54 I don't want to embarrass myself anymore I already look like a brand new fan boy😂
Remeber when SkidRow showed up for the first time and getting the LP. Always really loved that band. So cool to see young people discover and reacting to the music you grew up with in the 80s or early 90s. So much fantastic music was created back then. That sill better than most created today :-)
Fun fact... Sebastian has never damaged his vocal folds during his long (and still going) career. He did, however, manage to give himself an abdominal wall hernia from belting too hard! Essentially, he has a relativley quiet singing voice and uses very little air / breath to create his sound, however as you can imagine, this requires very high pressures. As a result he pushed so hard from the diaphram that he quite litterally sang his guts out! Now thats the definition of breath support :)

Skid Row notably eschewed the huge hair and makeup you can see from around this era of music, so I was never distracted by any kind of image and just rocked to them.
About 7~ years ago I had the opportunity to see him as a solo act opening for Guns N’ Roses. He was absolutely amazing live, even if he’s not at his prime anymore. Amazing to see how much energy he brings to a stage.
Sebastian took advantage of voice lessons for years. He was pure natural unbridled talent then became polished with the lessons. And have you ever seen a more beautiful man in your young life ? That’s 6’3 of sheer perfection.
Sebastian Bachs voice was unmatched. I literally cry when I hear this song. I hope you have had a chance to listen to all of his other songs. Truly an artist...
I just ADORE your reaction to this. Watching reactions lets me live vicariously through the views as if I'm hearing it again for the first time. Your facial expressions show me how shocked, amazing, and impressed you are with Sebastian's vocals. Isn't it an amazing song? He is a fantastic singer. Best part? He can still sing like that 30 years later. :)
When i see Sebastian and hear him i cry he has such passion for music! I love him so much! Just a beautiful man ..his voice just does something to everyone unbelievable talent! Met him in 89 i was 13 yrs old still love him tday!!! 2023! Fun fact..he practiced Bel Canto for his vocals;) Get his book 18 n life on Skid Row ..great book!!!! And the pull out of him doesn't hurt .yum
Sebastian is not only an incredible vocalist, he's one of the nicest people you'd ever meet! VERY down to earth and never let fame go to his head. At least not when I met him. I'm about to watch your reaction to King Diamond, but if you like Sebastian, I suggest "Steelheart, I'll never let you go". INCREDIBLE HIGH notes. Another is Flotsam and Jetsam, No Place For Disgrace. The last Flotsam album with Jason Newsted before he joined Metallica.
SEBASTIAN BACH is one of the best heavy metral vocals of that time , You can feel every note and his passion is unreal. check out the other song's from SKID ROW, quicksand jesus is just as intense.. IT LOOK'S LIKE YOUR HOOKED, welcome to the show...
This song was really personal for Sebastian Bach because it's about their friend Steven Adler ( former drummer of Guns n' Roses ) who at that time was struggling to heroin addiction. That's why you can really feel his emotions singing this song.
He was incredible back then 90’s. I actually saw him star in Jekyll and Hyde on Broadway. He did a great job. Surprisingly not quite the live power of other Broadway stars from Phantom and Les Mis, but he did an admirable job! At the end, he was given a rose and bit into it and sprayed the chewed petals everywhere. It was amazing!
Sebastian is not only an amazing singer, he's a really kind guy to his fans. At the height of his fame he treated fans like friends backstage. He wasn't looking for girls. He was married. He asked my friend for a t-shirt he was wearing and my buddy said it belonged to a huge fan of his (me) who couldn't be there. Sebastian had the whole band sign it personally to me. I wrote to him on his site about a decade later and he remembered my friends by name and the shirt. Great guy.
Love seeing talent appreciate talent! Love youth discovering music from the past! You hit the nail on the head…passion…he sings with so much passion the songs oozes with it!! Sabastian was a special talent. Will never be another like him! Thank you for your analysis and best of luck with your own career!
Hey Aliyah. Yes this song has beautiful and sad memories for me. Living on my own in Asia, working Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand in the 1990s. Meeting lots of people. Sometimes for love, some loveless. Is it all just wasted time. The bar on Jalan Sultan Ismail called brannigans had a Filipino band that could cover this so well I had goosebumps.
Skid Row is from New Jersey, but original singer Sebastian Bach is from Canada... Skid Row is best known for their 3 records w/ Sebastian Bach (vocals) and Rob Affuso (drums)... both were let go in 1996 after a dispute w/ Rachel Bolan (bass), Scotti Hill & Dave 'Snake' Sabo (guitars) ...Skid Row reformed in 2000 w/ (the late) Johnny Solinger (vocals), but they couldn't replace a singer of Sebastian Bach's caliber... Skid Row went through a few singers (and drummers) before settling on Swedish vocalist Erik Gronwall recently. Sebastian Bach has been a solo artist since the 90's. Some more classic Skid Row songs - '18 and life' ... 'Monkey business' ... 'Beat yourself blind' ... 'Youth gone wild' ... 'Quicksand Jesus' ... 'I remember you'... 'Slave to the grind'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥
The technique he uses to add rasp is called glottal compression. It's a way of increasing pressure through the airway to alter resonace. It's really the only safe way to create distortion. In opera you may be more familiar with glottal stops or glottal seperation.
Forgot to mention, there's a live performance of Sebastian Bach as a solo artist with a song called "The Most Powerful Man in the World". It's kinda a fun song, but he really showcases his vocal talent in that one as well.
This song was written about Sebastian's friend Steven Adler the original drummer of Gun's n Roses. He got addicted to heroin and his playing got so bad he was fired from Gun's n Roses. In 1996 Steven suffered a stroke after taking a speedball which is a mixture of heroin and cocaine. He was in a coma but survived. He had paralysis on one side of his face and a lisp. He's he's battled with his Addictions ever since but he seems to be doing okay these days. he still plays drums he's been in a couple of big bands and in 2016 he actually got to play a couple of shows with Guns and Roses again
Sabastian Bach was a candian trying to make it in theater and sent a tape to bon jovi manager company. Scott Hill is the foundeeband wrote most of all the sings with Dave the snake Sabo. Alot of their mid tempo and ballad numbers are started out on 12 string acoustic then move to a drop d power chord electric guitar
They wrote this after being on tour with Guns N Roses, and its about GnRs drummer at the time Steven Adler and his heroin addiction that ultimately caused him to be fired from that band. The imagery shows people using heroin and the visions of the white horse is a slang term for the drug. They also reference horses in the lyrics.
Correct on all points. I can hit those notes and it took years for me with proper training from an opera singer I fortunately met in my early 20s who I took more than a few lessons from. She taught me breath support and how to project well. I always had power and notes other people could not hit but getting that strong vibrato and holding notes etc not being spent after 2 songs etc that is all technique. I have many vids of me covering songs every day including this one. The biggest thing I can say is that I have consistency all singers have "in voice" days and the other days when you are limited with your colors you can audibly paint. There are viruses now that will kill your voice for months if not years. The last 3.5 years I have been recovering from such a horrid virus I caught in early 2021. If you ever have this which likely you will avoid surgery and other shit just fall back on eating right, sleeping well and practicing your techniques. I am getting my voice back more and more now and if you want to know how to sing like this you have to use the same techniques you likely have learned in opera such as diaphragmic breathing and opening your air way relaxing your throat and opening the back up etc. You have to be mindful of what effects your body as well, things you eat, drink are exposed to (smoke cigarettes or fog hog machines) all can knock you off your game when performing. Anyone talking about "pushing your voice back" or "vocal fry" is un-trained they also will show you things which are very bad for your voice. Practicing you need to mentally think about filling the room as much with your voice as possible holding your tone. Realize you have 1-3 hours to do what you do. All vocal chords swell it is the nature of them resonating like slapping your hands together or something, you can only do this so long before they swell and vocal chords start acting like a reed instrument more and more until they swell enough to where you will loose your range. You have to know this and how to comp it. You also have to know how long you take to recover. Everyone has a different body and it takes some people longer to un-swell. You need to realize what is happening as it is occurring and what point you are in the cycle. Thus you will know when to quit or how long until you have to quit. Have some easier songs to do in your comfort zone area just in case. For example, I can do Prince, Billy Idol and that type of stuff all night no problem even when I should be calling it done. The only way you are going to get to the level of doing this song live or anything like it is work and pushing your voice to the limit, resting it then doing it again a few days (or a week or so) later depending on how hard you pushed. When I sing the microphone vibrates like a cell phone in my hand. I used to take cookie sheets and hold one at arms length to see how much it vibrated as a base for my vibrato. If I could get it like a snare drum I was good. Neighbors used to call PD when I was practicing inside my house windows shut and no amp. Not because I sucked because I was loud. Funny not much they could do but ask I be quiet. You can vocally make as much noise as you want in your own house if not amplified and under 80db at the sidewalk. Throw in amps and now you better know a whole different side. Amps and microphones are way harder to work with especially when other people are their with their own amps and speakers. I spent decades learning gear and you NEED minimally an EV ND series mic with bass rolloff, a great cord or two, an effects loop (ART SGX with an X15 or Digitech Vocalist) a direct box and HEADRUSH 12 with a stand. I have WAY more stuff but this is basic that I bring to all shows or practice. Headrush is not the best sound but it is really good, works and cuts the mix as well as giving you control over your personal monitor so they cannot drop the fader and make you hurt your voice. It blends very nicely with 15" EV speakers loaded with horns. I have 4 of these wedge monitors as well but use them for my personal rig or if I do my own sound just because they are heavy and take up a lot of space. Everything sounds better if you run it through a mixer but the rig I list you do not have to if there is none. Thus my using it for live personal monitoring. If you get this stuff you are going to have to learn how to use it as well. It takes more than a day or two. In ear is great if you can use it but for vocals it lacks and this is why... your ears effect your voice. If you plug holes in your head things act differently. Try singing with your fingers in your ears or worse in our nose and see what I mean, not fun and things don't work correctly. I practice loud because I play loud and if you do not get loud at practice do not expect to be able to just go out and turn up the volume it don't work that way. I play guitar as well and playing a 100 watt Marshall is way more skill than a fractile axe effects. Both pro gear but Marshall you need WAY more skills to be great and it just is better. When I turn mine on and smell those tubes it is soooooooooooooo good. Try eating before you sing and ALWAYS have water the pure type. Get a reverse osmosis filter for where you live. This cuts PPM down to almost nothing. This not only helps your voice but your overall health. Picture this, water has little rocks and shit in it. When you sing and drink water with little rocks in it what happens to your vocal chords? If you guessed they swell much quicker you would be correct. Just because you cannot see the sediment it is there. I get .0015ppm compared to 275ppm from my tap in my house. US FDA says 275 is excellent quality. Sure some is fluoride and some is chlorine but some is rust and other debris. Lots of rust though I know I can see it when I do plumbing and filter changes. When you eat, I have found KFC 2 piece box meal to be THE BEST!! I have had nights where I thought ok gonna be rough and ate 2pc KFC and F me my voice started rough but then boom magic! I think it is the oil they use or something. Luckily I love KFC! Anyway, I have written a small book here and still lots more can be said. If you have been taught at a college level doing opera you should have a solid base of knowledge to use towards this type of singing. Also, one last thought is phrasing and resonation. People never give these the creds they deserve. Sing the bad ass note at the wrong time or just have a horrible resonation and no one wants to listen to you. When I write I pick both of these apart listening on the play back. Covering songs is so easy because that work is done for you.
Bash was an alien or something. He can still rock just a little older and slower like all of us at some point. I am super impressed with this young ladies intelligence, her concise and verbally economic way of speaking. I don't know if she's rehearsed this reaction, it doesn't feel like it. She seems authentic and knowledgeable and even seems a little humble mentioning lack of knowledge of a technique and if anyone has knowledge hit her up. Never mentioning that she would have never encountered such a technique in the world of Opera. From my very limited knowledge I do know that Opera is very traditional and very structured and not necessarily concerned with unorthodox influences. Pretty cool seeing people digging stuff my parents hit me in the head for listening to, but I had it coming.
Its good to see younger gen taking this style of music in cuz it was an amazing time in music. Its gone now.. but that vocals like Baz was a once in a lifetime talent that will never be seen again. Todays Skid Row is a shadow of what it use to be. Unfortunatly Baz can't hit the notes he could back then but thats what happens to singers. as thet age.
I love your reactions because you really love music and your knowledge about singing from your opera training. Plus you discovered Ronnie James Dio. I loved your reactions of his singing. He just takes my breath away. I would love to hear you react to Sinead O'Connor singing " Nothing Compares to you " Thanks Patrick from Wilmington Delaware
I'm curious what you think about Sinead O'Connor's Voice. And why do Celtic singers have a special sound . Is that because of their Accent. Also maybe I shouldn't ask this question. But I would love to see footage of you singing live. What ever you choose is OK with me. Thank you. Patrick. from Delaware
By harshness you mean vocal fry, which is also the same technique used in growling. I've learned how to growl first, then eventually idolizing vocalists like Sebastian Bach. It is then i realized and learned how to do it w/ belting. I'm not a pro i just love singing. You might want to check out W.A.S.P. and Cinderella as well.
I see the original Skid Row live in 1969. They were a 3 piece Irish band formed in 1967. In 1969 a 16 year old Gary Moore took over guitar. See “Still Got the Blues” or Pretty Woman. Gary died 2011 age 58.
One of the best rock singer ever. Excellent range, pitch and emotionality in the voice.
🥰
Couldn't say it better, bro!
In his prime he was UNTOUCHABLE sad it lasted just like 5 years
No other song has ever given me chills like this song, and it’s every time I listen to it. Masterpiece

Wow, thank you!♥️♥️♥️
Great song about a fellow rocker friend. You want 80s Hair Metal, this is it, and Sebastian Bach's voice doesn't disappoint.
🥰
When i see Sebastian and hear him i cry he has such passion for music! I love him so much! Just a beautiful man ..his voice just does something to everyone unbelievable talent! Met him in 89 i was 13 yrs old still love him tday!!! 2023! Fun fact..he practiced Bel Canto for his vocals;) Get his book 18 n life on Skid Row ..great book!!!! And the pull out of him doesn't hurt .yum
🥰
Sebastian is not only an incredible vocalist, he's one of the nicest people you'd ever meet! VERY down to earth and never let fame go to his head. At least not when I met him. I'm about to watch your reaction to King Diamond, but if you like Sebastian, I suggest "Steelheart, I'll never let you go". INCREDIBLE HIGH notes. Another is Flotsam and Jetsam, No Place For Disgrace. The last Flotsam album with Jason Newsted before he joined Metallica.
Thanks for the recommendations
Love your reviews. You can tell you are enjoying the music and giving an honest and professional opinion
Oh thanks so much🥰
HE ACTUALLY PLAYED ON BROADWAY STARING IN..... THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA 🤘 he had a great voice back in the early n mid 80's.
😍😍😍
He was not in Phantom. He was in Jekyll and Hyde, and Jesus Christ Superstar, and also had a non-lead role in Rocky Horror.
BEST SINGER IN THAT TIME ERA AND YOU ARE LOVELY
Thank you very much😍
SEBASTIAN BACH is one of the best heavy metral vocals of that time , You can feel every note and his passion is unreal. check out the other song's from SKID ROW, quicksand jesus is just as intense.. IT LOOK'S LIKE YOUR HOOKED, welcome to the show...
Thanks so much🥰
Listening to Skid Row since 1989...😊
😍
Watching someone realize there's Real Talent is always Amazing ~
Great Reaction : )
I wish you had talked about his incredible Vibrato as well~
Thanks so much and for the recommendation too
Great job young lady. You were rocking right along with the band
Thank you so much!!🥰🥰🥰
You are welcome. Keep up what you are doing. It's nice seeing you have fun.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful, sweet and amazing reaction!!
I adore you and your videos.
Sending much love for you my dear Aaliyah! 🌹❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!!♥️♥️♥️
@AaliyahCapili My pleasure dear. 😊❤️
This song was really personal for Sebastian Bach because it's about their friend Steven Adler ( former drummer of Guns n' Roses ) who at that time was struggling to heroin addiction. That's why you can really feel his emotions singing this song.
Thanks for sharing
He was incredible back then 90’s. I actually saw him star in Jekyll and Hyde on Broadway. He did a great job. Surprisingly not quite the live power of other Broadway stars from Phantom and Les Mis, but he did an admirable job! At the end, he was given a rose and bit into it and sprayed the chewed petals everywhere. It was amazing!
Thanks for sharing Mr. Steve 💕

Thanks for sharing youf insight💕
Seb just bare his soul and ripped he's wounds open for himself and many of us listeners. Just pure gold..
😍😍😍
Oh thanks so much for sharing all of these💕
i love the way your expression reaction of face i love it❤
Oh thanks so much💕
So much emotions in this one.
🥰🥰🥰
I like your reaction. Sebastian Bach is simply an outstanding singer. A very emotional song. You're really doing a great job
Thanks so much🥰
Skid Row is from New Jersey, but original singer Sebastian Bach is from Canada...
Thank you very much for sharing all of these🥰much appreciated
Great job. Love your organic reactions
Awesome video again. Well done young lady. 🇮🇹🇧🇪
Wow, thank you!♥️
The technique he uses to add rasp is called glottal compression. It's a way of increasing pressure through the airway to alter resonace. It's really the only safe way to create distortion.
In opera you may be more familiar with glottal stops or glottal seperation.
Thanks for sharing the info, much appreciated
Forgot to mention, there's a live performance of Sebastian Bach as a solo artist with a song called "The Most Powerful Man in the World". It's kinda a fun song, but he really showcases his vocal talent in that one as well.
Thanks so much for your recommendation💕

Great reaction Aaliyah 👍💯🔥
Thank you 🤗
👍🎄🎅@@AaliyahCapili
Was hoping you would get to this song, great reaction and loving you and your channel keep up the good work
Thank you so much!!♥️♥️♥️
Sabastian Bach was a candian trying to make it in theater and sent a tape to bon jovi manager company. Scott Hill is the foundeeband wrote most of all the sings with Dave the snake Sabo. Alot of their mid tempo and ballad numbers are started out on 12 string acoustic then move to a drop d power chord electric guitar
Thanks for sharing the info💕
React to skid row, I remember you. Another great vocal performance!!
Thanks for your recommendation💕
chills always when I hear their song 1992 masterpiece!
🥰🥰🥰
very good choice and your reaction was very passionate.
Thank you so much ♥️
@@AaliyahCapili your welcome
My favorite Skid Row song. Bas is a vocal STUD
🥰
They wrote this after being on tour with Guns N Roses, and its about GnRs drummer at the time Steven Adler and his heroin addiction that ultimately caused him to be fired from that band.
The imagery shows people using heroin and the visions of the white horse is a slang term for the drug. They also reference horses in the lyrics.
Thanks for sharing the info🌺
Great song 🎵 from my youth, sad subject matter, I heard it's inspired by STEVEN ADLERS addiction to Heroine. But great memories and times for me!!!😊😊
Thanks for sharing 🌺
ITs about a friend of his who was hooked on drugs...theres the emotion factor. Amazing singer
Excellent reaction!!
Bas, at the top of his game, was untouchable. This song is in the Pantheon of great 80s/90s power ballads.
🥰
Its good to see younger gen taking this style of music in cuz it was an amazing time in music. Its gone now.. but that vocals like Baz was a once in a lifetime talent that will never be seen again. Todays Skid Row is a shadow of what it use to be. Unfortunatly Baz can't hit the notes he could back then but thats what happens to singers. as thet age.
Many thanks for sharing
Well done! Such a great song.
🥰
You can tell this song meant a lot to him.
🥰
I love your reactions because you really love music and your knowledge about singing from your opera training. Plus you discovered Ronnie James Dio. I loved your reactions of his singing. He just takes my breath away. I would love to hear you react to Sinead O'Connor singing " Nothing Compares to you " Thanks
Patrick from Wilmington Delaware
Thank you very much for your kind appreciation and recommendation, Mr. Patrick. Much appreciated
I think you have a little rock and roll in you young lady. Great reaction.
Oh thanks so much🥰
My hubby is a huge fan of Sebastian Bach .they covers almost all skidrow s songs like songs from Slave to the grind album..
😍😍😍
By harshness you mean vocal fry, which is also the same technique used in growling. I've learned how to growl first, then eventually idolizing vocalists like Sebastian Bach. It is then i realized and learned how to do it w/ belting. I'm not a pro i just love singing. You might want to check out W.A.S.P. and Cinderella as well.
Thanks for sharing the info, much appreciated♥️
Monkey Business should be your next Skid Row Reaction. Hear Sebastian Bach singing on a full out ROCKER.
Thanks for your recommendation🌺
this song was about his friend steven adlar who was the drummer for guns and roses when adlar was addicted to drugs
Many thanks for sharing the info
Oh gosh ! Correction on that last suggestion! I was still thinking Skid Row , sorry. The song is Fly To The Angels from the Band Slaughter.
Oh thanks for that, i will also check out your suggestion💕
Back to to the time when music is still music😊
😍
Preciosa !!!❤
🥰🥰🥰
Sklave to the Grind was one of the greatest metal albums of all times !!!

I see the original Skid Row live in 1969. They were a 3 piece Irish band formed in 1967. In 1969 a 16 year old Gary Moore took over guitar.
See “Still Got the Blues” or Pretty Woman.
Gary died 2011 age 58.
Thanks Mr. Cliff for sharing
Sebastian Bach was a trained Opera singer as well :)
Thanks for the info
There's more - In A Darkened Room and Quicksand Jesus. I was 19 when this album came out and I still listen today.
