Some people are naturally born with teaching skills. Mind blasting tutorial! Outstanding👌 God bless you!
Thank you, This was an excellent video, that got straight to the point of exactly all the ways to test my starter/solenoid and know if it's bad or not without a bunch of unnecessary time wasting extra content. I salute you sir! Keep up the great content!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It's exactly what I need to know without 10 minutes of waffle.
Great Video! Straight forward, scripted so we could pause and follow. Really helped me diagnose my 81 Delco Remy . Cheers
Excellent! Still helping folks after all these years!
Excellent and thorough. Exactly what I needed to learn. Thank you!!
Short and to the point, thanks!!!
Thanks your video saved my butt getting my Kubota running after a snow storm and I tried several things over a couple hours. Watched this and with a screw driver jumped positive to ignition paddle on solenoid- starter kicked in. Used key for glow plugs and did it again - tractor started right up. This tells me ignition not sending enough volts to starter. BUT I can simply install a momentary push switch to solve the issue. Thanks again
VERY helpful. thank you. worked just like you explained it. I was able to determine it was my starter.
Excellent video! Straight to the point and checks all components. 👍
Best video on youtube for Starter and solenoid troubleshooting. Thank you!
Thanks for this video. It helped me a lot
Good info, nice layout too. Thank you.
this is what I was looking for to understand how motorcycle starter system works, thanks a lot!
Gu. .
Nice and simple. Excellent work, brutha!
Brilliant, many thanks for posting!!
Great video, very helpful and to the point. wording needs to stay up for twice as long.
Best starter motor video on U tube hands down. Cheers bloke
Thank you for this! Really helped me ensure I wasn't spending money on a starter for nothing. Appreciate you taking the time to make and post this.
Ten times better than going to school. Learn heaps in 3 minutes. Thanks dude
Thank you very much ! Now I am not confused, and I can check the starter motor 👌👌👌👋
Very good explanation
Excellent video. Thank you.
loud and clear sir!
this is a great video. No bullcrap
Excellent demo. George C.
just tested mine the motor is f,,, and so is the solenoid ,, new all round thank s bud good vid
Very well done, clear and precise this.. cheers great help 👌👌👌💯
I agree with all the commenters who commend you for not including a bunch of fluff and getting right to the point. I hate the videos of people who love to hear themselves talk and and who use stupid exaggerated gestures and corny intros. My time is valuable. Your video was very informative. It made perfect sense. Going to test my tractor starter tomorrow.
Informative video... Thanks for the upload
straight to the point very helpful
Excellent fairplay.
Great informative video sir 👍 👍 👍 great work sir 👍 👍 👍 best regards for the future videos 👍 👍 👍 👍
thanks very simple and helpful
Good video, very good, just instructional
Superb video. Other videos are not as comprehensive on what to check out, such as the solenoid failure mode and checking for voltage.
Great video thanks for you demo 👌
Excellent video. Thank you!
Thanks man great tutorials
Thanks for this it helped me test my motor :-)

Great video, thanks a lot
That was awesome demonstration. Even an idiot like me could understand. Thank you.
Great tutorial thanks alot
The guys disliking this tutorial are these who throw their working starters without testing it. Perfect video.
Brilliant exhibition.
Great video!!
Brilliant..... thank you :-)
Thanks for this!
No bla bla bla, just to the point.
Great video.
Thx!
Very nice, thanks.
Thank you brother 😍
Great video! If I want to run these tests myself, does anyone know the name for the leads I'd need? I have a multimeter
Thank you ,sir.
Very thanks !!!
I had a 1 click when I started my 2002 tahoe keep clicking and eventually it would start. Oreillys tested it 5 time checked ot good. Replaced it anyway and now it works perfect.
Thanks your sir
I got a used one OEM starter in ebay and now I know how to test it before installation. Thanks for the excellent video.
By the way, anyone how how long starter will last for a Toyota Corolla (it has 190,000 miles), about time go bad ? Thanks
So these sound much like a power drill when freed from the engine. Never heard the whine except on some buses when the engine went idle and the pinion was released. Thanks for the video.
Thank you
Fantastic
very good
thx a lot!!!
am student of NIT but i like to understand more about automotive.
Thanks a lot, the best explanation. I know repeating myself. How many times can I press the subscribe and lake buttons.
Simply nice and helpful to all Dr.K.Prakasam
very nice
Connected the positive cable to the positive battery terminal and then to the ignition part of the starter, then I connected the negative to the body of the starter; when I connected to the negative terminal of the battery it kinda sparked and left a mark on the terminal...and the pinion moved forward and did a slow rotate thing...I'm confused ayy
iwant to know which why is easy to fix and to test the engine and the names of equipment that needed when fix it
Hi, where could be a problem, if starter rotates, but pinion doesn't push out? Starter is new. I changed it, because of this problem. It hapenned on my last ride before winter time. When I was running on highway, engine stall suddenly. So I glided to the highway exit and put cas aside and tried to start engine, but it didn't. Only starter was moving. We towed to my garage and there I noticed, that starter didn't move with crankshaft. I tried to change starter relay, but it didn't help.
Hi I have a chev diesel motor when i put a charged battery in and go to turn it over it sounds like the battery is flat does it sound like the starter
Hur länge tar det att byta startmotor på en citrengc5 3.0
U can talk me appeox rpm of indica diesel starter??
Which value peak amp. Gain on load?
The starter sticks on my boat and when it does kick in it barely turns the motor over with the plugs out even. I hate myself because its on the bottom and im going to get really drunk now. Thanks for the video when i get up with a shitty hangover i will be able to test it but i know already its bad.
how much current does the solenoid draw?
Where can I buy the lead you used to bridge the connection?
how much current does it takes to run
thanks!!!
Hi, i want to test the solenoid of the starter motor without to dismounting it from the car, can i do this whitout making damage? obviously i disconnect battery from the car before. Thanks. When you are writing that the internal contact of solenoid is bad in the video instead i think it's only the tester probe that doesn't make contact with metal of the bolt, it is covered of dirt.
Thank you, I checked using video, both solenoid and motor works but I couldn't work out how to wire to test the voltage using the multimeter, the video doesn't show what wire goes where, can you explain please?
When the motor pinion often stuck, what do I need to fix? It usually works but sometimes stuck. Do I need to replace the magnetic part or motor part?
Hello I have a question important .is me can to use of Motor starter the car this in the game scooter baby weight 25 kilo please respond and thank you ???
can i use this to make ebike?
Hlw sir, can you plz help me to know, how I can calculate what size of AH battery do I need to start a 10 KW self-starter. Plz explain with formula
2:33 Test 4: Electrical motor testing - Would it be safer to use the thicker red cable instead of this think tester cable and probe?
dose it need to move freely also by moving with fingers ? or it needs to be very hard ?
Great!
That thing really goes
Why the pinion should spin without moving forwads ? Its problem the selenoid starter ?
how can i fix the problem when the pinion moves forwards but does not rotate and i cant fix it with the hammer?
Perfect
Cum se demontează electromotor la Audi a 4
FUCK!! that starter test scared the shit out of me!! XD i thougt you were going to check the voltage for some reason X,D
i did all these tests and the starter was still defective, it would push out and spin but with NO load, once you put the engine load on it, it would not crank the motor.
I recently installed a new starter on my Same corsaro70 tractor, and it makes a loud rattling noise while starting the tractor. Does anyone know what the problem could be.
Good video, but the part where it uses the tester is useless 'cause if the motor starts then by force there is voltage on the positive input of the motor. The right test was to put the + of battery only to the spade connector and with the meter in ohm test between + batt input of motor and + batt output contact to motor stator
By rights if the solenoid contacts were bad the motor obviously wouldn't spin, but there is much less load on the motor when it's not trying to turn an engine, so not a conclusive test.
Also, your ohms test method is also not the best way to test the solenoid, as without the main battery cable connected and motor not running, there is no current draw accross the solenoid contacts, so you could well see a good ohms test even if the intetnal terminals weren't making a good connection to carry the high current the motor needs.
The best test would be a volt drop test across the solenoid terminals, with the motor running.
Set volt meter to 20volt setting and place the (+) Test probe on the battery feed terminal, and (-) Test probe on the motor feed terminal, then trigger the motor to run via the start terminal.
You want to see as low a voltage reading as possible across the 2 terminals (preferably less than 1 volt, or better would be in the milli-volts range) with the motor running/circuit loaded for the most conclusive test.
This then proves very little voltage drop/loss across the internal contacts of the solenoid👍
The video helped me Alot
Btw what is the spade ?
Late reply but in case future viewers have this question, the "spade" mentioned is just a small tab of metal that a cable (from the ignition) connects to.
thanks for this video, now i know my problem: this is solenoid internal contact, because connecting motor directly, it work. if i open solenoid and clean this contact, maybe can i repair it?
Yes!
Which starter is this
helpfull for the most part! but i know your not suppose to bang on the starter because then it fucks up the brushes or permanent magnets inside then your screwed and need to replace the starter. Why dont you just open the starter up and fix the the problem directly?
i have problem out of car its working that bud wheni crank engine do clickk and starter turningbat no cranking flywheel
