They are not children. They are teens. But yes, it does seem a bit absurd. Let me provide some context. That particular crosswalk had been vandalized in May, someone set it on fire. Funds were raised to repaint it, so people were a bit on edge about it getting damaged again. It does seem that the teens were purposely trying to damage it. But at the same time, it is a crosswalk, it will get damaged by cars driving over it. The teens will walk free, I'm sure. Let's not stir the pot.
Lime scooters are radio controlled to lock up within a certain distance of these crosswalks. The cross walks alone are a waste of tax dollars on a non standard road marking that reduces safety.

Obviously in those days in China, toilet paper was unheard of and so, people often wiped their insides with newspaper. Guy wiped but didn’t realise that Chairman Mao’s portrait was on that piece of paper. When he discarded the piece, someone else saw it and reported him to the local police, he was stripped naked, beaten and then forced to write an apology letter to the chairman whilst the committee decided if they should execute him. He was very lucky in the end and didn’t die. I don’t know why but this story just reminded me of what China was like 60 years ago

The city is also potentially charging a couple of kids and a 19 year old an exorbitant fee for doing practically no damage to a flag painted on a street. AND the city is releasing felons and lowering the sentences of other crimes, probably due in part to a lack of funds. Okay first of all, yes it is an outrage, and the fact that people can't stop desecrating this stupid rainbow flag, tells you how badly the citizens their don't want it. Second, it's not pronounced with a long a sound, so this person reporting on the story obviously is not from there. You pronounce the name of the city with a short a sound.

Leave the pride celebration out of public parks otherwise there will be no control where kids play. What about the graffiti painted on by the rainbow mafia. That is a public intersection, and it belongs to all of us. I would like to press charges for defacing my road. The kids on the scooters were using the road for its intended purpose.

Vandalism is illegal whether you personally agree or not. If someone vandalized a church people would lose their minds even though religion is just superstition.
The only markings that should be allowed on road are markings for controlling traffic. Putting art on the streets obscures traffic markings and makes the streets more dangerous.
It's not very "inclusive" when you exclude scooter riders.
