g i think another cool concept would be a twist villian and twist hero asha being an accidental villian and magnifico being right the whole time and asha being driven by a bit of selfishness starting off they could of had asha be an already be the apprentice of magnifico starting off the movie and that they had a father daughter relationship due to the fact asha has no father and magnifico kid died when the kingdom was first founded due to granting a vague wish and that’s why he won’t grant asha’s grandfathers wish but obviously at the moment asha doesn’t know about magnificos kid i think if they made star and went with the star boy lover shapeshifter concept and after asha ran off they could of had star boy give asha magic and how to grant wishes and teach her how to use it falling in love with her as he teaches her though she doesn’t tell him what she plans to do with it fully she just says i want to be able to grant wishes then after a while it’s clear they both admit their feeling for each other and then asha decides to return to the kingdom to grant all the wishes and star boy argues and warns her not to telling her about how it could have consequences asha however doesn’t listen and returns to the kingdom where she has a showdown with king magnifico (it’s night) where he tries to stop her and warn her not to but asha successes in granting all the wishes for only chaos and destruction to ensue everything gone the entire kingdom ash all the people are shocked as all the light is gone and it’s just an empty dark island magnifico then comes up and explains the consequences and what happened to his own child star boy then comes over and talks to asha telling her her oh can fix what she’s done but he will have to return to the stars that’s the consequence she understands a heart felt moment as star boy and asha kiss and star boy walks over and uses his power to restore the kingdom a happy ending ensues where wish granting no longer exists there’s still magic but it’s more of the basic type magnifico remains king and asha remains as the apprentice but asha and magnifico have a father daughter relationship asha never will forget her star crossed lover boy and the people of rosa’s learn to make their wishes come true by them selves including her grandfather the end is happy but slightly bittersweet as asha no longer has her star boy lover that being the consequences of her actions and obviously star boy doesn’t die cause it’s disney he just must go back to the stars instead of staying with asha in rosas (they could of had her freinds be side characters and maybe also warn her in the beginning so at the end when rosas is ash they all just look at her disappointed and with sadness and the queen though she was an interesting character could have been more of a side character maybe having a talk with asha about why magnifico doesn’t grant all the wishes and tries to explain what happened with the kid before she runs off but asha too anger and annoyed runs off without listening) (disclaimer i haven’t watched the movie only some review videos) but yeah that’s my personal take on it there’s lots of concepts and other things that would of worked way better than what we got wish feels like a cool concept where someone came up with the idea wrote it into chat GPT and told it to make a movie (also i’m only thirteen so don’t come for me cause of my opinion 😭)

The thing that's most frustrating about Wish is hearing the original plans for it and how they just scrapped all of them. It would have been really cool to have an evil power couple at the core of the movie, or the fact that Star was originally pitched as a star boy that would fall in love with Asha, just to name a few things. But that alone to me is way more interesting than a guy who is evil for no good reason, a boring queen as his partner, and a generic female protagonist that has none of the charm or layers of those that came before her.

I dearly wish Disney would try and portray morally ambiguous villains for once. The current consensus seems to be that it's either a straightforward, archetypal villain like Maleficent or Scar or no villain at all. But just imagine if Wish had acknowledged Magnifico's ambiguous introduction and proceeded to develop him into a grey villain. A man who is consumed by arrogance, but whose past actions have been unquestionably benevolent. A king who deceives his citizens in order to maintain order and peace, but who can justify his actions in terms difficult to argue. After all, he lets them live for free, in prosperity and health. Asha's impulsive decision to free the wishes, while well-meaning, could have been acknowledged as exactly that: an impulsive decision by a teenage girl. What if her actions involuntarily proved Magnifico right, and the freed wishes actually DID result in chaos and upheaval? Imagine the myriad of directions the story could go from there. Magnifico could reluctantly team up with Asha to restore order. Magnifico could spiral into paranoia, madness and vengeance after Asha's mistake. Or a mixture of both. The thing about morally grey villains is that they could be absolutely anything. They could be redeemed, but they don't have to be. Their actions could be justifiable, but they don't have to be. I am eagerly waiting for Disney to experiment with their rock-hard formula and actually try something new.

Here's how I would change it:
I'm stealing an idea from Saberspark and making Asha King Magnifico's daughter and Princess of Rosas. This would already set up a great conflict for Asha. Can she stand by her family and preserve their power when it's based around innocent people losing their chance at happiness? Or does she stick by what she knows is right, even if it means becoming an enemy of her parents?
I would also change Asha's personality; she starts off as very introverted and shy and does whatever she's told because that's what her parents taught her a princess should be, but throughout the film, we see her become more independent and self-assured until she finally faces off with her father over his abuse of power.
As for the wishing star, instead of just existing, we learn the wishing star is actually Asha's paternal grandfather. Her father's powers actually come from being the son of the Wishing Star, who had been sent to Earth to fulfill the wishes and dreams of humanity; however, Magnifico became disillusioned after seeing how people only want to use their wishes to benefit themselves and began using the wishes to increase his own magic. This had broken Wishing Star's heart, and he decided to help his granddaughter stop his son and train her to be his new successor in granting wishes.
This brings us to the seven friends, they're the first people Asha decides to help. While her grandfather insists that she can use magic to solve their problems, Asha slowly realizes that while magic can be helpful, ultimately, people must make their wishes come true. Slowly, more people begin to wise up to this fact with Asha's help. Magnifico gradually loses his powers since he has been using people's wishes to fuel them for so long, with people fulfilling them themselves instead of entrusting them to him. This infuriates him, and then learning his own daughter and father are behind sends him into a complete villainous breakdown after a dark reprise of "This is the Thanks I Get," culminating in him using the Book of Forbidden Magic, a spell book created by dark fairies, he was warned never to open. Using his newfound magic, he swears to destroy all the dreams and Rosas.

We were robbed. What would’ve worked more was if the king and queen were both evil and Asha was their daughter. Then Asha would’ve grown up thinking that keeping the wishes was the right thing and star boy had to help show her the right way. Also it would add a lot more to Asha’s character by standing against her parents since for all the other Disney princesses with evil parents they’re always stepparents (Lady Tremaine, Evil Queen, and Gothel). So the fact that a princesses actual parents are evil would’ve been so cool. Magnifico could’ve been the sympathetic villain that is way to overprotective
Also I wouldn't make Asha quirky I mean she can definitely have somethings but not as much as they did. I would make her more similar to Elsa and Mulan personality rather than Anna and Rapunzel.
I would also change Asha's color palette purple reminds me too much of Rapunzel and Isabella. I wish they stuck with the orange red color palette from the concept art

Once Upon a Studio really should have just been what Disney did to celebrate 100 years, since it captured the magic better than Wish did. It ignited childhood nostalgia and brought back characters from shorts you'd think had been forgotten alongside movie characters. Hell, I didn't even know Disney had a version of Nessie until I saw Dave Lee Down Under's video. You also got neat interactions between the characters, even if they were for a few seconds.
I feel nothing but indifference towards Wish. Maybe dumb little kids and the blind consumers who eat up anything Disney puts out will like it, but I honestly don't think I've enjoyed a Disney film since watching Moana and Zootopia with my ex. Even the Chip and Dale movie was more fun than Wish. It's KINDA BAD that one of the few things about Wish that got me to smirk is that the star kinda makes a fart sound when turning to look at Asha in one of the trailers, but nothing else.

I’m going to see the movie tomorrow, and yeah after everything that’s been said. I’m am absolutely expecting it to just be subpar at best, and Disney’s worst and most forgettable since Chicken Little and Home on the Range.
Now, hot take incoming, I just want to say that, I love Disney (not corporate Disney) and I am one of the VERY few people in the Animation community who does still get excited for any new WDAS film that comes out and doesn’t think the studio is dead right now. In my opinion, I really like Raya and the Last Dragon and consider it to be MASSIVELY overhated despite it’s flaws and with the other three (RBTI, Frozen 2 and Strange World) while I agree they’re not great films by any means, I do think they aren’t as bad as everyone makes them out to be.
So even with all that bias and unpopular positive opinion, I still think this movie is going to be a major disappointment.
I still have faith in Disney that they still do solid stuff even other than Encanto but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna remember Once Upon a Studio much more than this film.
Also by the way, anyone that says that Byron Howard is the only talent left at Disney and will throw hate and death threats to Jennifer Lee and Don Hall should not be in this community by the way.

The story and songs feel like they went with the first draft and didn't change up things to improve it like better Disney movies have done and the animation felt a bit unfinished compared to Spider verse and TMNT. I've been watching a lot of videos making a critic over Wish, and I still didn't watch it, because I'm from Brazil, so yeah. Also, I don't go to cinema very often, so I'll be waiting for it to come in Disney plus. But even if I didn't watch it yet, I'd like to share with you guys the ideas I had in my mind about what this movie could be, based on what the trailer gave us. And just like I said: I didn't watch it, so if my idea happens to be too far of the reality of the movie... You already know why. I really just want to share my idea for fun, so here we go:
I thought it could be a really good plot if we started with Asha being presented to us as a really ambitious main character. Not in a bad way tho, but like a person who have really idealistic goals (you can think of her goal as whatever you want). So, that's why she would be revolted when discovering that king Magnifico doesn't make the majority of wishes come true. She would have EXACTLY this mentality of "every wish should be turned into reality". But here's the thing: her mindset would ALSO be portrayed as a bad thing. Magnifico ans Asha would be both opposites: one is selfish and doesn't make the effort for his people wishes, even the ones that are good and worth it. While Asha would also slowly become kinda antagonic (not on purpose, but because of her immature mindset), since all wishes becoming true would mean a total chaos. And she would discover that during her journey, trying to fight against Magnifico ways and seeing the consequences of her actions, by seeing the chaos that is caused when ALL people get what they want.
I imagine Asha somehow taking over the wish-magic-thing in a certain part of the story, causing that chaos. People of the kingdom would be in a total mess, since certain people made absurd wishes, while other made wishes that somehow countered other people wishes, etc... A chaos, basically.
Then Asha would regret, and Magnifico would appear there in a miserable state (since she took his power), and he would throw at her face the fact that she ruined everything. Then they would argue a lot about how the other is wrong, and by the end of the discution a third person (idk, maybe one of Asha's friends) would intercept and be the sensible one here, making the two try to put themselves in the other's feet. Then, Asha and Magnifico would notice by themselves that they were both wrong.
After that, I think we could have a twist (or not a twist actually, it could be a thing built since the start), where Magnifico talks to the queen, explaining that he regrets his actions and don't want to have this kind of control over the wish-magic-thing anymore. But then the queen would go villain and go like "if you don't want the power, then I want!", and she would try to take over the wish magic, turning into the final villain (she could be written as a neutral character since the start, like someone who was supposely just supporting Magnifico in his dictatorial way of possessing wishes, showing that since the beggining she wanted power and was using him for that)
Then, Asha, Magnifico and friends would have the crazy fight against the queen, she is defeated (then she is arrested or smth idk), and then Magnifico and Asha make their final decision together: freed the wish-magic, and let it work by it's own, as a nature-force that decides by itself how to deal with peoples wishes. No more human controlling it, since no human should "play God".
And then, Magnifico would stay as a normal king, Asha somehow would reach her goals in a cool and natural way, and the wish-magic would work in balance as it should be, by itself
    The end!

Besides, the usually problem I always had with Disney alot since Wish wasn't worth taking my anger on tbh was it's fandom that sorta ruined my enjoyment of Disney for me with it's purism for those traditional Disney classics that they love so much more than anything else as they'd think I'm also not a real Disney fan just because I'm usually more of the "having fun"-type since being traditional really just isn't my thing.
So glad that Pixar besides those Disney movies I listed along with Jetix,Disney XD, and the LA movies I've also grown up with like TRON,Pirates of the Carribean, and Narnia were always my first introductions/exposures to Disney to begin with because if that purism attitude is how the fandom of Walt's company's gonna treat other sane and casual Disney fans like me? then I guess I'd probably won't be a part of it anymore, that also goes for the DreamWorks fandom too lol.

    1. You can't kill anyone.
    2. You can't make someone fall in love with you.
    3. You can't bring anyone back from the dead. It's not a pretty picture. AND I DON'T LIKE DOING IT!

You know, there is actually one movie that recently came out on Netflix and was actually able to beat Wish on getting a better high score on rotten tomatoes. The movie is called "Leo" and yes it's an Adam Sandler movie but this one is a pretty underrated Adam Sandler movie and I do recommend you seeing it because it's both a hilarious and wholesome movie that (in my opinion) is definitely better than Wish.

According to directors Fawn Veerasunthorn and Chris Buck, King Magnifico was created as the main villain of Wish out of a desire to bring back the classical Disney villain archetype seen in Disney's earliest films, where villains were revealed from the start of the story instead of revealing their true colors later on through plot twists or just being confused individuals who ultimately redeem themselves upon seeing the errors of their ways, whether their crimes were forgivable or not. Thus, they decided to reveal Magnifico's villainy since the trailers but also to supply him with a compelling backstory behind his fall into darkness to not make him a fully-formed villain yet when the film begins, crediting Chris Pine's performance for giving Magnifico charm and charisma that can make the public feel conflicted on whether they hate or love him. Chris Pine has expressed hopes that King Magnifico ends up as iconic as the villains from the Disney Renaissance era, feeling that he delivered a good performance thanks to the music written by Benjamin Rice and Julia Michaels, in addition to feeling honored to play a villain with "great eyebrows".

I really want to see a video where somebody proves her wrong. No words needed. Just a bunch of clips from Aladdin, Prince of Egypt, beauty and the beast, any studio Ghibli film ( especially the fantasy films) Don Bluths early films.
Just Let the beautiful handrawn moments speak for themselves.

a 6/10 is what I gave it. Didn't love or hate it.
Magnifico for me was the ONLY entertaining thing here. He's like if Jayce from Arcane was a disney villain. Honestly with a few tweaks he'd be fine. First of all--- He's a king who is married..... WHERE'S THEIR KIDS!? He doesn't need an apprentice if he has a bouncing baby mage to work with. So my personal fixes is actually the Queen kept having miscarriages, so she and the king decided to make their kid out of a wish. It didn't work.... at first. Magnifico had granted talents or objects.... But never life before. So he had book of dark arts where he first uses it to make his kid. BOOM. Amaya then feels like she owes Magnifco everything because she could have been discarded at any moment because she couldn't provide. But turns out the dark magic warped their kid's spells to where the wishes came out wrong. So out of embarrassment he sent his kid away to save face and now is looking for a successor because he is getting old.
Asha should be like Viktor. Eager to help her community but is a bit of a social outcast. Asha sees magic no one else can see. But people thinks she's making it up. She has no friends and gets the impression she won't amount to anything. Something about the wishes Magnifico is hoarding has to either trigger his fear of rebellion (Which got his parents killed) or the thought of someone else stealing his glory. He's a narcissist-- let him BE one. So when she tries to whistle blow on Magnifico no one believes her, not even her mom who's jaded after her dad's sudden death. She longs to speak to her dad- cue song- and a star from the constellation Aries fell down and it takes the form of a goat who becomes her first friend and is willing to help her.
Still working out a few kinks, but this is what I'd do if I was in the director's chair.

In fact, all these these movies are so bad that they can’t even beat anything at the box office. So far that Indiana Jones movie had some positivity though it also had negativity combined didn’t have enough to actually beat sound of freedom, so yeah, it didn’t do well at the box office at all.😒😒😒

Honestly, the film should have been delayed to 2024. Why you may ask, it could have solved out all those story problems and unneeded sequences in getting a better outcome. But nope, Disney animation never wants to leave the thanksgiving market behind and would instead rush a movie like no tomorrow. Both Moana and Encanto got a pass, but the past sequels and this picture didn't really do it for me. Frozen 3 and 4 is a train wreck waiting to happen. 🤦🤦🤦

Having an anniversary film or a centennial film or a film that culminates all the other films together is almost always a bad idea. James Bond did this with die another day and it was the worst Bond movie ever made. Just did this with wish and it was extremely mid. All the studios are gonna copy it though because they want the numbers to be something.

      @alexmillar4878 10 месяцев назад +1

That’s actually a very good example for comparison. Die Another Day was so focused on being the 40th anniversary Bond Film and threw in as many references as it could that it completely forgot it’s also a movie in itself. I feel like Wish is the same thing and a major letdown for Disney’s anniversary, and this is coming from the only person on the planet who actually likes some of Disney’s recent non-Encanto animated films.

  • @SharpnessKnightStudios-ep3iy
    @SharpnessKnightStudios-ep3iy 10 месяцев назад +2

"Wish" is supposed to be Disney's magnum opus that celebrates Disney's 100 years of animation. Instead, it was a major letdown thanks to its reliance on nostalgia, comparisons to other animated Disney films, a poorly written story, bland animation, generic characters, and forgettable songs.
So, I ask myself, "What if 'Wish' had a different version than the final result that we got? What if the story and characters were developed better? What if the film was a fully hand-drawn animated film with some CGI animated elements instead of a fully CGI animated film with a 2D watercolor style filter like the final version?"
I asked ChatGPT to generate that alternate version of the film, and here's what it had to say:
In the alternate version of "Wish", the story takes place in the enchanting kingdom of Rosas, where Asha is not just a young girl but the 18-year-old Princess of Rosas. As the daughter of King Magnifico and Queen Amaya and the younger sister of Prince Andrew, Asha carries the weight of royal responsibilities on her shoulders.
The kingdom is known for its magical history, where the reigning monarch possesses the ability to grant the greatest wishes of their subjects. However, this power has its consequences, as the wishes are sealed away, creating a sense of longing and mystery among the citizens. Asha, being a compassionate and curious princess, becomes increasingly aware of the unfulfilled desires within the kingdom and yearns to uncover the truth behind her family's magic.
Sabino, Asha's 100-year-old grandfather, is not only a wise figure in the kingdom but also the father of King Magnifico. Sakina, Asha's 86-year-old grandmother, provides a different perspective as Magnifico's mother, offering a familial dynamic that adds depth to the royal family's history.
The film's visual style is a unique blend of traditional hand-drawn animation and CGI animation. Approximately 80% of the film, including the characters like Asha and her family and most of the scenery and objects, are meticulously hand-drawn, giving the movie a classic, timeless aesthetic. The remaining 20% of the film's environment is brought to life through CGI animation, seamlessly integrated to enhance certain magical elements and create a visually stunning and dynamic world.
As Asha embarks on her journey to unravel the secrets of Rosas, her relationships with her family, friends, and the anthropomorphic wishing star named Star take center stage. The blend of animation styles accentuates the magic and wonder of the kingdom, showcasing the coexistence of tradition and modernity in this enchanting tale.
The narrative still revolves around Asha's quest to understand the true nature of wishes, but now, her royal lineage adds an additional layer of complexity to the story. The dynamics within the royal family, their connection to the magic of wishes, and Asha's role as both a princess and a compassionate individual contribute to a rich and multifaceted narrative.
Also in this alternate version, the character of Star undergoes a fascinating transformation. Instead of being a simple wishing star, Star is a magical human boy with the extraordinary ability to shapeshift into anything he desires. This includes not only inanimate objects but also various forms, creatures, and beings. His character is a blend of the mischievous and carefree spirit of Peter Pan from the eponymous story and the playful and whimsical nature of the Genie from "Aladdin".
As Asha's love interest, Star brings a dynamic and enchanting element to the narrative. Their interactions are filled with playful banter, magical escapades, and a shared sense of wonder. Star's shapeshifting ability adds an extra layer of fun and unpredictability to their adventures, as he can effortlessly transform into different forms to aid Asha in her quest.
Star's fusion of Peter Pan and the Genie's personalities means he possesses a timeless and adventurous spirit, coupled with a flair for theatrics and comedic charm. His boundless energy and ability to find joy in the simplest of moments resonate with Asha, creating a deep and magical connection between them.
Throughout the story, Star not only assists Asha in her quest to uncover the mysteries of Rosas but also serves as a source of comfort, inspiration, and, ultimately, a driving force behind the film's exploration of wishes and the power of dreams.
The romantic subplot between Asha and Star adds an emotional layer to the narrative, highlighting themes of friendship, love, and the transformative nature of wishes. The blend of their unique personalities and magical abilities contributes to the overall charm and enchantment of this reimagined "Wish".
So, what do you guys think of my story pitch?

Your idea for how they could change Wish's story is very interesting. It says a lot when RUclipsrs are coming up with better ideas for storytelling than the people who get paid hundreds of thousands to make this movie. There is a lot to criticize, but we just want Disney to have a return to form and remind them of what Walt dreamed up with characters like Oswald and Mickey. One note on the style of animation.
That my take and my takeonly.
I don't want disney to do a spiderman or a Puss in boot 2 style ofanimation. As much as I Worship Puss in boots 2, I don't want disney to just do the same. We don't want to see a style of animation again and again , that again, I fck love.
I want them to be passionnate, and to want to to beautiful animation like they always did in the golden age of disney. I don't specificly want to go back to d animation (well, yes I do,but that not the point) iwant to have artist that have time, freedome, that are willing to work on a cartoon, not only cause of the paycheck, but to make a beautiful art pieces, with their hearth and blood on it (NOT LITERRALY).
We don't want the same style, we want the same determination, and love, and care, and passion. Look at the old disny movies, or any other media. They all I had a style, but each a bit differente from the other. You can see the difference in art between Cinderella and the Lion king, Or Brother bear and Alladins! they are each beautiful and unique.
What we don't like with disney now, is theirs always the same art style at the other movie. Don't get it wrong, the artists that are working on the current disney movies are all doing great, it's not their fault! it's the doing of their leadership. That just want faster, cheaper way to make movie, and tha kill the creativity. As much as Ilove the art of Moana and Raya, you canalways tell that, in the end, they look a like. there nothing to differientiate. Same texture and all... cause heirs no Artistic touch to it, that the people working in the art departement can add, cause they don't have the freedom to do. Theyr in chain, chained by their corporation that don't even undertsand art.
That was my rant. I'm not good at English so *sorryyyyy*
I would love to discuss with all of the people that have different opinions than ine, again, i'm surely totally wrong,it's just how I view it *now* I would love to see your taks on it! I don't think I put allmy thought on this comment, I'm not good at saying what I think but Héh

I just felt nothing when watching this movie I didn’t laugh, I didn’t cry I just felt absolutely empty I’ll give Disneys recent bad films this at least with frozen 2 and Raya and the last dragon I at least felt something when watching them regardless if they were bad or not but with wish i just felt absolutely nothing and maybe that had to do with the production of the movie like how it was originally going to be a cgi and hand drawn animated hybrid, it was originally going to have two main villains with King Magnifico and Queen Amaya and how the star character was originally going to have a human like appearance and would’ve had a potential romance with Asha hearing all of this makes me just think that the production of this movie must’ve been an absolute mess now yeah maybe this could all turn around for the film after all the same thing happened with elemental earlier this year it started off as one of the lowest grossing films for Pixar but then in a surprise turn of events over time it went on to being one of the highest grossing films that summer but only time will tell but yeah Wish is probably the first Disney film in a long time pretty much ever since home on the range to feel like it was made just for kids and not for a family audience for what was supposed to be a movie to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary this could’ve been really special but it just fell flat I’m afraid
