George Lucas was all like, _"I wanted to make a beautiful fairytale with goblins and elves!"_ And I'm just like, Hey Chinless, you already made "Labyrinth."
Labyrinth is a masterpiece. It's not only a perfectly wild and enchanting 1980s fantasy, but it has a very feminine-centric story about maturity, learning which fantasies to keep and which ones are dangerous, responsibility, kindness, and ends with the heroine rejecting the stereotypical yet evil "Prince Charming" character. In fact, Labyrinth does this cliche-break way better than Strange Magic since the villain is directly connected to the heroine as her own creation. The more Sarah matures and grows out of her childish "magic prince loves me and gets me what I want" fantasy, the more power Jareth loses, so resorts to manipulation, violence, and even "generosity" to get Sarah to stay the same so he can maintain control. It's a brilliant hero and villain dynamic. Here? It's just "egotistical prince is egotistical and gets punched in the face", which is as stereotypical as the rest of the movie is.
Wasn't that Jim Henson?
@@_LemnZ Henson and Lucas worked on that movie together.
@_LemnZ Jim Henson directed, George Lucas produced.
Raisor made two Wish references in the span of 35 seconds
To quote Jon Tron "bad touch, bad touch, stranger danger" to describe Sunny (because well sunny is a creep originally it was the "love potion" and the dealer fairy but it's more fitting for sunny, and Marianne screaming has some meme potential)
It's funny, both this film and The Book of Life have Can't Help Falling In Love in their movies, but BoL actually used its songs to move the plot forward and were also there because Jorge (the director) chose them due to their special connection to his life and family. I'm pretty sure the only reason Strange Magic had those songs in its movie was because they were songs people would recognize.
George Lucas' Tinker Bell!🧚♀️
On acid! 😂 Correction, MUSICAL ACID!
@@subcaratothemoon1982When we see the last second of the movie we can say that yes this is a accurate description of the all thing 😂

Wish is MUCH WORSE than this one.
Pedigree exponentially exacerbates, flaws.
@@matthewdaley746even the highest pedigree can’t save you when you spend your whole movie preaching “no one should control x-thing!” … then by the end of the same movie your main character controls x-thing (in this case it’s the purple girl, whose name I honestly forgot, with wishes. She claims King Magnifico shouldn’t be able to control wishes because no one should have that power … then she herself controls wishes at the end which she herself even says she will grant ALL wishes … well I _wish_ I could see her face when an arsonist wishes for the Kingdom to burn 😏😏😏)

I like how you look back on previous reviews you made in your early years and redo them to match your newer style of videos.
im already astonished by the thumbnail… 😟
God I love the character designs and I wish it was in a better movie.
There's a rule of thumb in action films that, whenever, the villains are the best part, that's not a very good sign, and, whenever, the critics lament the fact that they deserved a better film, that's really not a very good sign.
I was gonna say that Gaston and Ursula might be an exception but I then remembered that there were other amazing songs in their respective movies and now I miss Howard Ashman.
@emuanon34 Additionally, he's, missed, horribly.
If i'm being totally honest this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine
i remember watching this movie when i was younger and when the movie was over i forgot everything about it exsept for the animation
This movie was truly an odd one but i honestly like it.
And i can't hate either 😅😊
It's rather disheartening that this movie is named after one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands.
11:48 "Ex prince, AlEEEEEEEEE!"
The thing is that I don’t think the beginning of the movie is that bad. I think it’s a pretty decent premise of the enemy forests and Marianne as a sympathetic protagonist after being humiliated by Roland. I also like the dynamic that plays with Bog in regard to that. They’ve both know what it’s like to have their hearts broken and how painful it can be to have your guard up so you don’t go through that again. The two have a lot of chemistry that we see in glimpses but isn’t expanded upon and i think that’s a huge mistake. I think the mock would have been so much better if it focused on Bog and Marianne, fleshing out the romantic relationship more and actually took the time to write the songs rather than make it a jukebox musical. I also kind of like the animation at times and the actors are doing a decent job.
Where it loses me is the constant barrage of musical numbers one after another, the date rape subplot with Sunny and Dawn, and just Roland in general. It’s a shame. I feel the seeds were there but they just weren’t executed well.
Then again that’s George’s problem when he does stuff mainly himself: good ideas but terrible execution.
The sickest part is, were the genders reversed, nobody has a problem with the characters, at least, publicly, kind of, like, how, Mei, and, her friends, in, Turning Red, were seen as, "protagonists," and, even, "role-models," instead, of the antagonists that they actually were, fortunately, the pandemic would scuttle the theatrical release, and, greatly-prevented, the film from creating unlikeable, "heroes," additionally, Mei's rubbing her insufferable perfectionism down everybody's nose, stunk.
This was better than Wish
Wish is a, cinematic-atrocity.
Your chanel deserves so much more love! I love the energy you bring to each video!
I also miss classic romance Disney!
Enjoyable Disney's upsettingly, rare.
It would have seen so easy to write the love potion into something BAD.
The fairy kingdom could have had a tradition of using love potions to prove one's 'true love' to one another, mainly in royal marriage, with its true side effects being purposefully omitted many decades ago.
- If not in love with anyone or if you love the person you're marrying, you'll lose all autonomy for your emotions and decisions.
- Loop hole being that if you love someone else, the potion won't work on you.
During the Princess and Soldier's wedding, despite the soldier getting love potioned, the Princess spots him making eyes towards another fairy.
In a sudden anger that overcomes her, she slaps the love potion that is about to be administered over her, breaking the last remaining potion in the kingdom eversince the BogKing locked up the love potion fairy.
She gets gaslit into thinking she overreacted and subsequently exiled for breaking the love potion.
So to gain back her status and the forgiviness of her lover, she infiltrates the BogKing's Kingdom to steal the love potion fairy back.
13:50 Sunny is the WORST Character in all of Strange Magic
Hypothetical-Female, Sunny's, heroic, terrifyingly.
I can’t believe he’s meant to be a good guy. He’s a creep.
@@joshuaW5621Additionally, he's, very, creepy-looking.
Here’s a suggestion. Review Alice in Wonderland. The Cinematronic version. Also released in the same year as the live action one.
8:22 gotta love RaisorBlade talking about anime because that’s what makes him unique for other movie reviewers and also yes RaisorBlade you are the reason I got into anime lol!!
I hope RaisorBlade remakes his Dragon Ball Super Broly review
Can you do a video about "The Prince of Egypt"? 🙂❤🔥
Never, TPOE'S absolutely unassailable.
Quite insane that this is better than Wish.
Yet, simultaneously, terrifyingly, not.
This is legit my favorite movie lol
Bog king was a mood
I mean we can all remember him showing off the effects of a love potion
I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't stand Sunny as a character. The fact that the movie has him be willing to basically drug Dawn to make her fall in love with him, you know, the same thing that Roland (you know, THE VILLAIN) wants to do with Marianne, and not only is he not called out for his actions, but he ends up getting with Dawn. It's such an incredibly gross and potentially dangerous message to teach people, especially kids
It would be amazing to see a edited version of your reaction with your friends on RUclips. Non the less this is a amazing video, amazing job!
The video is a Patreon exclusive, which you can watch exclusively on my Patreon. 😭
Ok Got it.@@RaisorBlade
Apparently, the first Trolls movie copied the story of Strange Magic and it really really shows
The Star Wars prequels aren't looking so bad, are they?
I don’t think they were even that bad to begin with
They gave us the sexy xeno-monotreme that is Jar Jar Binks. They were never bad bro.
At least it is better than the Star Wars Holiday Special
Wait till you see all of the stuff that got cut from the final product.
“Um, actually didn’t you already reviewed it with the cringy jokes about Metallica-“
“Shut up! It was a long time ago, he doesn’t do that kind of jokes anymore!”
14:34 Well, didn’t expect someone to use the phrase Direct Messages in THAT way.
I want him to remake his Dragon Ball Super Broly review next and maybe Super Hero. It would be cool for him to review every Dragon Ball movie!!
You know Nimona isn’t the only project sabotaged by Disney. You should cover Tron uprising. It’s in the same league as shows like atla and samurai jack.
It's complicated, Tomorrowland's, (predictable), failure caused many projects to get canceled, Tron's, third film was only one tiny example, there could be another film one day, but, that shall take luck on way too many fronts, too harsh, it is.
At least Nimona got rescued by Netflix and Annapurna pictures.
@@Princess_-gp3epAlas, luck's notoriously rare.
The fact that the movie only use existing songs is just cheeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaap.
The only reason anyone remembers this movie is because George Lucas was behind it.
HTD's, infamy crosses eras.
This movie is abysmal. Animatt called it the worst animated film of 2015 over Hotel Transylvania 2, which is significant since he absolutely HATES that franchise. He also pointed out that it didn't get a Blu-ray release. Only DVD. Which meant much worse films got better treatment than this movie. Glad your opinion hasn't changed on this trash. Another legendary funny review. Thanks, @RaisorBlade.
Franchise, yet, only, half-finished.
Strange But Funny Magic?
Well wish was just a Easter egg hunt. that's all they were concerned about. this is just a acid trip.
I dont know if I'm the only one but i mashed strange magic and epic mashed in head as the same movie.
Kung Fu panda 4 is better them Megamind 2 in my opinion
Doesn’t most people think that?
Certainly, KFP4's, less-bad, unquestionably.
@cherry_mania Unfortunately, neither's, particularly, well-liked.
You gonna made a remake of your review of Strange Magic ?
Yes. With less Metallica jokes
I think the only thing that I remember liking about this film was it was that it's a rare example of the bad guy getting the girl, even if he wasn't really all that evil to begin with. Everything else I was pretty much just staring at the screen in mortal terror until it ended.
DOH! i grew up with this movie and frikin loved it! 😂 I still have a very soft spot for it but I know it has alot of problems……But ill 118% stand on the claim that it is FAR better than Disneys Wish. Atleast the animations georgous (80% of the time atleast) the music (while pop and juck box) still is fun and has creative visuals, and a really charming couple (Marryan and Bog). it goes all the way and tries! regardless of its problems (and i know there are alot) i still really love it 😅⭐ and Wish deserves to burn in a ditch somewhere.
Wish, is absolutely incorrigible.
I was the very few who saw strange magic on opening weekend, and it was totally cringe!!! Seriously, it sucked terribly that Lucasfilm never made another original movie ever again 🖕🤮🤮🤮
Kathleen Kennedy's responsible, unquestionably.
the fact that Strange Magic tries to Star Wars for Girls and they failed at it at least The Force Awakens is a much better movie then Strange Magic
An improvement's unfortunately, depressingly-easy.
So you consider this movie so bad it's good now?
What a Strange Failure...
And what a Strange Review!
To summarize how this movie could’ve been salvaged from a terrible plot, have Bog be a twist hero. He learned that forcing people to love you isn’t right, as he saw how everything he loved about that person’s personality is gone once the love potion was used.
13:14 similar to shark tale. Where they had Martin’s Scorsese.
2:15 😂❤
My ex loved this movie unironically. I really should watch it someday to honor her memory
0_0 That thumbnail.
This movie is one I constantly go back to. I know some people find the models ugly but I find them refreshing and once you get used to them you barely notice how weird they are. The transitions in this movie are RIDICULOUSLY well done. I remember being so interested then the transitions were so beautiful I was hooked. The VAs are great and I can't help being infused with their charm as these characters. Even with all the TERRIBLE plot choices this movie is surprisingly ok. I wish it had some story changes....like the love potion, more world building, and original songs. But I'm glad I could see the little I got to see. Not star wars... But definitely a good watch for however long this movie is
If i remember, George lucas say that this movie is like Star wars but for girls. Ok but where are; the cool action, the kind and likable characters, the scary villain? Not here apparently!
This movie has too many songs. I know it's a musical but 13 is a lot! Also, most of them are useless like Marianne singing before going to the dark forest, Bug singing '' I'm evil, my middle name is misery! '' to his servants or Sunny singing '' Don't worry! '' to Diana. He could just tell her everything will be fine and say he will encourage her. I guess he forgot 😐
The romance is VERY similar to beauty and the beast. A courageous and kind girl falls in love with a man who is lonely and misunderstood. This doesn't remind me AT ALL of Belle and the Beast. It's so original!
The animation is ok but the characters, story and songs are so boring. If i have to rate it, i give Strange Magic 3/10. I saw this movie 2-3 times, it's enough!
1:54 I can’t understand what that ladybug is saying.
comunity reference NOICE!!
Lol I love strange magic
Did Dawn even know that Sunny drugged her? Cause she got kidnapped at the exact moment she got drugged, and the way she acts at the end of the movie makes me think she had no clue that Sunny used a "Love Potion" on her. And I don't mean her behavior with him, I mean her behavior and the way she talks to the Bog King at the end of the movie.
Love potions should be labeled as black magic by this point.
I never saw this movie outside of some initial reviews of it. But based on what you said about Bog and Sunny, it makes me question why they couldn't make their true intentions a twist. Yeah I know this movie came out when twist-villains started to become an annoying trend, but it at least could've worked here.
Before, inevitably, a, malignant-obstacle.
Clarification: how does the love potion work like Date gRape? If the players weren't as immature as they were the potion wouldn't have any effect on a person. And if you did actually roofie someone afterwards they wouldn't want to get together with the administrator again/in the first place; second place.
Interpretation's, likely, very, key.
This movie was better than wish.
15:24 lol
Hey, Raisorblade, i just noticed something, weren't you playing the at all costs demo version song?
Sunny was Disney's decision actually. Technically Disney are the psychos then. I found Meredith Bull's (Dawn) tiktok and she talked about the BTS, and yeah, Disney after the acquisition was like "Well we can't have one of our princesses not have a love interest so she has to get with her best friend." Like this was Disney's meddling and they thought his arc was a good idea?
Ironic since I'm sure At All Costs was meant to be a love duet but it was axed with Disney like "Love will weigh down strong female characters, so that star boy must be cut." Just a theory about Wish though but pick a lane Disney.
Disney has just as much of an understanding about love as an AI.
I mean it's not to excuse Sunny's behavior but just some BTS facts
I haven’t watched this movie since it came out in theaters… and I’m gonna leave it like that, it was so rough! 😂
Please please review the Mufusa trailer I neeeed to see you go over it. Cause in my opinion it looks terrible 😂
Oh man, I actually remember this movie. I never watched it. I just heard of it at first when I first saw it. I knew she thought remind me of another movie epic. Yeah, you remember that movie? And I and that definitely remind me a lot of that movie. Doesn't it a little bit but anyway, I haven't seen this movie at all. I mean, do you want me to watch It? Epic's no failure, distressingly.
@@matthewdaley746 Well you see when I first saw it. And remind me of that movie. But now as an adult, it doesn't remind me of it

@@justinthewarrior9165If you prefer, unquestionably.
Yes, this was a piss-poor attempt by Lucas at making “Star Wars for girls” … but it’s still miles better than Disney’s anniversary movie 😒😒😒
Wish, is, execrable, unquestionably.
14:11 what does this image meme actually means?
Just what it says, there are shallow women that won't be dissuaded from their feelings of rejection, merely, because you reply that they completely lack any kind of class, even, if it's true, especially, if it's true, simple as that.
That treating someone overly nice or overly mean doesn't mean they'll be into you and you should respect that.
@@JustAnotherIdiotWithDepressionAlas, people overly misinterpret.
Strange Magic is awful. I watched the trailer when I was younger, and I couldn’t sleep for 4 days because I was so horrified by the designs and animation. And this is coming for the same person who actually likes the Sonic Boom character designs, so I have bad taste :P
You bringing up Wish makes me say this...
I'd rather watch Wish than this garbage movie that you reviewed.
That's your right, but, I'm never going to see anything, with, either, ADB, and/or, Awkwafina, (even if it's just their voice), because Hollywood's collectively decided that they, both, "deserve," the best career, possible, automatically, for, "reasons," that kind of thing seriously grinds my gears.
@@matthewdaley746 Yeah, while I haven't watched a lot of Ariana DeBose movies other than Wish, I will say that I see Awkwafina as an overused actress when it comes to voice roles.
@timonfanmedia3268 They're both grossly overused, period, and, yeah, I know Hollywood's the biggest lottery ever created, but, this is just insulting, they were still complete nobodies barely a decade, ago, and, they're both headliners, because, "Hollywood decreed it," kind of like how Disney's enabled Jason Mardsen for the last four decades, that's life, who can explain it.
Pretty sure the fae arent considered villains in Midsummer??? Theyre antagonistic maybe in that theure kind of the cause of the trouble but theyre not evil? Also moot point anyway about the dust cuz Demetrius stays enchanted by the end of the play lol. Remember, Midsummer ends jn marriage which categorically makes it a comedy lol
This movie honestly reminds me of Lucoa from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. Lucoa is one of my all time most hated characters, because her only role in the story is trying to get into a 10-year-old boy's pants. It's disgusting, it's wrong, it really makes me wonder what the fuck is wrong with Japan for allowing shit like this, and it's made even worse by the fact that it was intended as comedy. And it worked. People genuinely like Lucoa and find her simping for a child funny. Not to mention that Dragon Maid isn't the only anime that tries to portray sexual harassment as funny. Don't wanna be racist or shit on Japan's sense of humour, but it honestly feels like they're living in the past, that time period where Pepe Le Pew cartoons were seen as comedy gold.

definitely one of the best bad movies, so uncanny an cringe but also hard to look away from, and does have some enjoyable moments. Plus you can see the genuine artistic effort with the textures and lighting, just rip the character design, writing, and direction brought the quality down... not to mention the repeated music

I actually saw this movie in theaters when it came out I went to see the movie with my parents, sister and three cousins we and 9 other people were in the theater and I liked it at first but overtime and saw reviews of it its bad like really bad
I love this movie. It's a hot mess but it's a fun hot mess
Wait you hate regular show?
What? No! That's a completely differently sentence!
The fact that George Lucas was confirmed to be on the Epstein list and he wrote this movie is another nail in the coffin for me, I’m aware it’s just allegations and he might’ve beaten them (I wouldn’t know I don’t do my research so take what I’m saying with a grain of salt) but the quote it was meant to be “Star Wars for 12-year-old girls” is a little sus. He literally wrote a movie that said drugging people is ok and marketed it towards kids… bro was trynna get them to apply to ‘work’ the island (not an accusation just something I found really funny… I might need therapy😂)
