Excellent videos concise helpful and NO loud music playing in the background! You did a wonderful job and are a real craftsman. Beautiful shed and a GREAT job!!
I am at the point where I am going to start my shed doors. Soooo glad I found your video beforehand. Thank you for taking the extra time to record it.
Same, this was thorough and clear. Looks great, well done!
Really excellent video. As a beginner woodworker I felt you covered all aspects of building shed doors in a manner that I could easily understand and reproduce.
Great video. Inspiring for the new day's out there. I bet your son already has a wealth of knowledge!
What precision man. Great work. I'm glad your son helps you. 😊
Way to be a nice guy and a good dad. Happy Fathers Day to you this weekend.
Amazing job! I just started building a shed in my backyard to clear out space from my garage. I did a 8x8 shed with a gambrel roof for more storage space. I'm almost done. I was looking for ideas for the doors and this video sure did help me out. Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad you found it useful!
Your explanation on figuring out the measurements helped me figure out how to fabricate my own shed doors. Thanks for your time making the video!
I'm really glad it was helpful. Enjoy your new doors!
This reminds me of working on Projects with my dad as a kid. Great video. Now I've got to build my dad a pair of shed doors. Thanks for the insight👍🏻
Me too, but the kid has to have "hands on" not just standing there listening unlike in the video.
I am building a shed over the well pump and pressure tank. I was looking for ideas on how to build the door and found your video. Thank you, I will use some of your ideas.
I'm restoring/renovating a 60 year old brick plinth shed (I expect it would've been cheaper to knock it down but hey its a project!) looked around for some ideas bumped into your vid... cool
Excellent video! Building my own 12'x24' shed now and wanted to build my own doors for around a 6' opening. Friends talked me out of it for looks and security. Based on this excellent instruction, I think I'll give it a go! Thanks so much!
Awesome! I love how my doors turned out, and they have held up really well to the changing seasons, etc. Good luck!
Currently renovating an old horse barn that was turned into a workshop, looking to put some doors on the back and this helped a lot!
Thanks, plenty to think about as I'm planning to build a new shed this summer.
excellent work. Truly inspires me to take on more projects around the house. Thank you for sharing
The doors look great and it is almost Identical to what I need to make. Thanks nice job.
Really nice - Been very entertained, and the doors on my shed mimic pretty much what you built. I used a lot of Hardie-Plank so the things are probably twice as heavy as your doors, but they should be fine with the great long strap (T) hinges I'm using. Thanks! Well done.
Thank you for putting this together. Great video content and pacing!
Awesome video, and thanks for posting it. I am going to implement your ideas on my shed doors.
well done. After viewing many shed door videos, I’m using yours as my model. Keep up the good work.
Now this make sense I like the way you explain detail and u show your work closely
Awesome video! Just used this to make some custom door for my shed. Very informative and clear, exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the simple approach on mounting the doors & hinges. Our shed repair project turned into sooo much more effort than we expected (rebuilt the doors from scratch, replaced the bottom 18" of siding all the way around, so all that took us several weekends). Thanks to you video on hinges the last step went very smoothly.
Glad it helped!
I’m doing that now. My yard floods so water damage has caused erosion all the way around the bottom, and doors are completely rotted. I did the framing on the doors today but I did them wrong. I framed the wood the opposite way instead of laying them flat 🤦♂️
Cracking build, just in the process of building my own shed - its not as exotic as this but i just needed some tips on doors so thanks!
I just finished my shed and found out they want 450 bucks for an outswing exterior 34" door at home depot, has to be custom ordered, so I was looking for a video just like this to help me make my own, this is perfect, I'll just make adjustments for just needing a single door and I have enough leftover siding and lumber to only have to buy the hinges and a couple clamps. thanks for posting this I learned a lot. I figured out how to do a roof this should be relatively fun and easy..
Thanks for the video. I'm about to get started working on my shed doors. I live in Texas so I got most of the shed done last December-March. Now I'm back on my December vacation, so I'm back at finishing up under the roof, above the walls and making a set of doors to close the shed up.
Nice! Best of luck to you with the project!
Wow!!! You sir did a very good job! Props. And thanks for the well explained video.
Thanks for video! I'm building a smokehouse for sausage and hams and such. As I got to the point where I need to build the doors, I watched your video. It gave me some insight on how to do it!!! Thanks a bunch. William
Absolutely beautiful!. Have to go back and watch the full series!!
I recently discovered that clamp trick on my own. So many years I could have used that trick!
Great minds, amirite?
It looks fantastic.
Just built a pair of doors just like your's. Made a few changes, but not much. I did use pocket screw joinery for the inner frame, primarily because the sheeting and trim keep it true and square . Thanks so much for the video. Did it all by myself, wish your son was around to give me a hand.
Having an extra set of hands on doors this heavy is really helpful. Glad yours turned out well!
Finding your video really saved me when it came to building and installing my shed doors. Thank you so much!
Glad I could help!
This video gave me exactly what I needed to know, on a locking handle option!
Looks great, thanks for the tips!
I did what you did without the 2x4 frame and extra inner osb... they warped... thanks for the vid! Upgrading them tomorrow!
great job. Was looking for I way to redo the doors on my shed.
Excellent video and craftsmanship
Nice touch with the humor and gratitude! I also like how you include your son. I’m doing the same thing by building a garden shed in order to clear out my garage, in order to have more space for a wig shop!
Wig shop! Cool!
Excellent video Brother !
Just finished building One 8x18 shed and ready to start building 2 more
Beautiful shed
So basically I just need to measure the width of the opening. Subtract 1/4 from each side and the center? Also the same for the top and bottom I assume. This video is so helpful.
Excellent job. Excellent video. Thanks for that.
Very thorough, nice work
Great Job!!
Thank You!!👍🏻👍🏻
About to spruce up my steel shed and replace the sliding door. A couple of doors like you made will be perfect. Thanks for video.
Good luck with your build!
THIS IS AWESOME THANK YOU!!!
This is fantastic. Thank you!
Nice job bud your shed came out great you have a lot integrity. I just built a shed myself thats how I ran into your vidio. I took my time it was a lot of fun and I saved a lot of money but great vidio!
So glad your son was working with you no one wants to work with there hands any more if at all I worked with lot of old guys learned so much now I’m the old guy but youngsters think they know every thing but can’t change a tire 🤬 no idea on who’s going to build houses are any thing else
Best explanation I've seen, thanks for posting.
Great work! I love it
EXCELLENT JOB. Thank you.
Thank you for the video and tip on the overlapping setup on the doors.
That is a clean looking shed. Nice job.
Fantastic series! Thanks so much for doing this. I learned so much!
Glad you enjoyed it, Casandra!
that was a great job. i keep watching over and over a few time.
Thank you for this. I want to make some smaller doors for a shed but this gave me a good idea of how to do it. I think I'll put low expansion spray foam on the inside empty spaces for insulation & paint the inside to waterproof it as well (since my doors will be going on a damp area).
Great ideas!
Grade to see you showing your son how to do things the right way
Nice job brother, I'm going to use your idea for my new shed. Thank you
Stunning shed mate!
Finally finished binge watching your episodes of making the shed from scratch! Take a bow in explaining everything in detail. Any ball park figure as to how much did the materials cost?
It's about adding time as a deterrent. Still, if you fill the screw heads with jb weld, it will take so long to remove them that it'll be less time just to use a crow and mini sledge to pry the door open.
Definitely doing mine like this. It will be nice with that overlap because you can put in a foam strip for a nice seal around the doors. That with some spray foam it'll be super nice to work in once I add an ac unit and run wiring out to it.
Good luck, Dan!
Thanks so much for this video. We are currently building our shed to make room in the garage for my woodworking tools!
Good luck! Getting a garage shop set up is SO satisfying. :)
Nice work. Thanks for sharing the video. Very helpful.
Damn good shed. Two thumbs way up.
Thanks this helped clear up somethings for me. I am going to be building my own custom shed when the temp is not so hot outside (Probably in the early fall). I am designing it now and really looking forward to getting back into working with wood and building stuff.
Awesome, Sean! Good luck with your shed build this fall!
Great video! I need to build doors for my basement and your video is the best I’ve seen.
one of the best videos i have ever watched
I am same situation. My garage is full of junk which I don’t want to throw out.
Great job on the doors! I'm in the middle of residing a shed in my backyard with Hardieboard and I'm gonna have to replace the two wood doors at the front of it. Was going to install roll up doors, but they are wayyyyyy too expensive. Will follow the tips in your video :)
Hey, Heath! I hope it all goes well for you. My doors have held up perfectly, and I love having options to open one, both, or at both ends of the shed. Good luck!
Very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Nice clean job!
CNt thank you enough. Building mine for the same reasons. I had to build two.
That's great, really useful tips... right, I'm off to build a door!
this was really great thanks for sharing this process. your shed looks awesome!
Thank you Arineey!
It looks fantastic! So sad here that it is way above my pay grade. I can see how having the right tools help a lot. Very nice and very pleasant.
I saved a lot of money building it myself, and watching for when materials were on sale or cheap on my local Craigslist. I also borrowed a bunch of tools to build this shed. You don't have to have all the best tools - you may be surprised what you can get done with basic hand tools. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, very helpful and well done!
Nice job! You gave me some great tips for mine.
Awesome job buddy. I’ll be doing exactly this very soon
Hello you are really good explaining was very nice and you make look easy. Thank you
Wow! You're an inspiration.
Pretty good for not knowing how to do it. It's a lot easier to cut the sheet good to the size of the door. You are guaranteed one square corner and the rest is easy to get right. Then you screw thru the back into 1 inch thick trim boards that are on the front. you use the same trim on the wall and screw the hinges to the trim. To square the door you lay ot out on level ground and make the top flush and square with quarter inch gaps top and bottom, then screw 2x4s across a few inches from top to bottom to hold it square. Hang a 2x4 or whatever across the bottom of the opening with the top where you want the bottom of the door to sit. With hinges already on the door, screw it to the shed. Now you attach a trim board behind one side and you have that light gap you were worried about all covered. Much easier and much cheaper to build this way. You did an awesome job though.
You video popped up perfectly...I’m at the same place and needed some inspiration and you nailed it.going to follow your instructions and give it a whirl.thank you
Good luck! I’d love to hear how your doors turn out!
Ok I’ll share a pic with you . I’ll do a before and after. I’m nervous but going to attack it! Worst case I need to buy more wood right! I’m very new to woodworking and my Dad and I built a lean to workshop for me. My door opening is 48 “ and is there anyway you can convert that to how you did the overlap? My math is HORRIBLE. I’ll go rewatch the beginning of vid and see if I get it . Which email address can send the pictures to . Thanks so much for sharing your video again. You tube definitely is my “university”.
You can email me here: amplifydiy@gmail.com. I’ll help however I can. Good luck!
Oh my Gosh! You weren't kidding about having patience! I had to redo this doors 3 times because I just kept making it a tad too wide or way too thin. This is my first time attacking anything like this so its definitely learning lessons along the way. I learned to measure the top and bottom of the door frame because there was a difference of 3/4". Also need to learn how to make the doors square in the end.
So I'm on the last leg of putting siding on so I hope to show you pics soon!
Fantastic! So glad to hear you are cranking through it! Doors are definitely one of the most frustrating things to build: as you've discovered, door frames are rarely square, stuff is usually wonky dimensions, and no matter how carefully you measure, things still have a tendency to come out juuuusst a little off. Nice work keeping at it, though! I can't wait to see the results!
Brilliant video thank you for posting Starting doors tomorrow 👍
Thank you for sharing!
Very nice doors may have to build mine that way 👍🏽
Wow! Beautiful work. Great video 😊
Helper looks very helpful. You are blessed.
Yes I am!
Awesome job. !!! Very helpful
Great plan, excellent video, learned a lot. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks, David!
I like your presentation so much i decided to subscribe to your channel... well done
Very nice job and enjoyed your video.
Good job and video
great video
Looks brilliant
thanks for the vid. i need doors to fit about 9 ft wide by 8 ft tall. im gonna give it a go. wish me luck.
Good luck! Both Lowes and Home Depot in my area carry lumber and siding in sizes large enough to use my technique to build 9’ x 4’ doors. I’d love to hear how yours turn out!
Use threaded pipe couplings to connect sections of pipe to extend the length of pipe clamps. A collection of 2 ft, 4 ft, and 10 ft by 3/4" diameter pipes with threaded couplings on one end give all sorts of length possibilities. I used 14 ft of pipe to hold square the 12 ft by 80 in side walls of my shed while I attached the siding.
Great tip, Philip!
If you don't have pipe clamps, ratchet straps are also easy to use for squaring/leveling things up. Even works on walls when framing.
Great tip, thank you!
great video! @@AmplifyDIY
