Thanks!
Thank you!
As a Craftsman man myself, I got excited at 3:14 when I saw that impact show up!
It dosnt get so simple reminds me of the the old western doors .I like it .
I built the door on my storage shed the same way except I put the 2x4s turned so the door was thicker and I filled it with styrofoam packing peanuts I had laying around just in case I someday wanted to weatherize the shed. I figured better in my door than in the garbage can. Really enjoying this series!
Great idea.
I loved the speed-up! I wish that it went that fast in real life! That door is strong, you can tell. I dont think I'm strong enough to install it. Loved the video.
The addition of construction adhesive in building the door will take it to another level.
Good video man I’m a craftsman brother let the haters hate
I made some trusses similar to this about 40 years ago. I used wood glue and galvanized nails back then. I preloaded them 1/2” in 20’. The shop is still in very good condition. Good video. New subscriber.
I looked at a lot of shed door videos and yours was the best. Simple construction and good presentation. 👍 Thank you
Love that I saw this video just in time to make my outhouse door 😊
Always.!!! I'm happy to watch your new videos, every video is a class for me.!!!
What a great idea , i will be building a backyard gate and i will put some angled braces inside .thanks from the UK .
Thank you for being so easy to catch on to. You have a Nice way of explaning the steps you take, and I Will be following you from Denmark.
Thank you for your videos
Gigi
I just want to thank you for helping me out, I built my shed door the same way. It’s heavy door!
Happy to help!
Great job Sam. I can't wait to see the painting and the rest of your shop go together. Actually, I am envious. We have a garage the size of your work shop and now I want a craft shop about that size...........LOL Great door! Love it and it's going to last............best of luck to you all.
Blessings
I love building as well as lazor. My Dad used to build and sell. He got ahead and finally owned our last house. It is good. You and your family do good.
That is awesome!
Nice job on the door. And great production value on the video. Intersecting your comments with the sped up video is great. Thank you.
Much appreciated!
Looking good! One tip I would pass along is put some 4” casters on your wire rack shelf. I did that a few years ago and it works great! Makes it easy to clean and for now will let you move it easier during construction. Can’t wait to see the next one and what color you pick😎
I agree with David here. Put casters on rack shelf. I bought mine from Costco, those already come with casters, but i had one from some other place and ordered the casters from amazon. Makes is so much easier to move around if needed.
Oh, very cool idea! Off to see what I can order! :)
Love the door. It’s basically a torsion box. They never flex.
Well done !
Simple, quick , easy, and amazingly done. Thx
Samcraft, that came out nice. Great work and not too expensive.
Great job. A real life solution for a custom door.
Great job Sam. 👍🏻The new shop is coming along great. Well done.
Nice. I got some rotted doors to replace. Definitely building them like you did.
Sam, though I missed one of your videos till I heard you say “two carpenters pencils “ . Great door!
Man how are you guys doing iv been looking for y'all's videos for a while iv started watching them a while back
It's coming along well.
Thank you, great job ,I'm building a shed and needed a storng door
Shoot,. Greenacres posted.at the same.time
Which to watch first? Lolz. Keep them coming. Love your.videos
Just replaced our old and rotting door on the new house using this video, thanks!
hi Sam & Angela & family, you are doing such a good job! Blessings to your fam. : )
Thank you so much!
I just followed your instructions and it works great. Thanks a lot
Great to hear!
Great project! I have laundry room door that needs to be replaced. The top half has old fashioned glass louvers from the 60s and 70s. Cold air just pours in. It's sealed up with cardboard and plastic but it doesn't help much. It's probably the original door from '65 when the house was built. It's roughly 32 wide by 73 high. If I made a similar door like yours any suggestions on how to insulation in-between the OSB and plywood?
Made look so easy thank u
Glad I could help!
Great job on the door. Have really enjoyed videos on the shop build from the start. Look forward to the rest
Awesome, thank you!
The osb turn the form into a torsion box! The added weight is worth it for strength and solid closing of the door over the years.
I’m going to use this design to create a Dutch door for my shed. Looks very user friendly!
Excellent video! Thank you! 😊
You are so welcome!
Thanks! Tomorrow's project
This is a common sense build. Much faster than building the frame first as many do. Thanks for sharing!
I like that idea for my door on my shop I just built.
Thanks man.
Same here!
Thanks for the video. I'm in the middle of building a shed and was debating how I want to do the door. I'll use your method.
torsion box construction. Insulate with DOW board or some rigid insulation if you intend to do the rest of the shop while you have the skins off.
Insulating inside the door space is wasted money. The dead air space inside the door is plenty.
Seems like a simple and sturdy way to build a door!
How much of a gap did you need for the door to clear on the swing open?
Great video. Thank you
I this concept will work for double doors I need for my shed, good stuff brotha!
Love the clip with music 😊
Good job 👍
I love this Video
Did you install the door stops?
I think this is an amazing door. I will copy you but I wish you had shown the trim work.
How much narrower/shorter was the door than the opening?
Used this video to build mine basically the same way, thanks!
Hello. What hinges are you using for the doors? I need to put up stall doors (dutch style) and want strong hinges.
Nice jab brother thanks
What kind of plywood is that ? Is it multiple panels ? Do you need to stain the door ? Looks great !
One thing I might change is to lay the wood on a real level cement floor. Then you start with an almost flat surface. I wish I had a way to get the boards real straight. Maybe some milled boards?
Good video my man! Nice . . .
Glad you liked it!
Good job bro 🔥
Bless you!!!!!
Awesome video!
very clear, thanks mate!
what about water leaking around the door?
Looks great Sam
Thanks!
Could this work for up to 72" width? I am trying to decide between this and a roll up door for a 6 foot opening
Gracias amigo
Hey man. How are you liking the Craftsman tool? Thanks for the feedback.
Good stuff with a touch of humour 😎
Subbed💪😀
for a big guy you sure do move fast
One more follower and thanks for you videos
Great video, bud. Thanks. I'm building the exact same thing now. What thickness OSB board did you use?
Great video.
Thanks for sharing
New subscriber here
Thank you for sharing. I'm not so organized. Maybe someday.
How much smaller did you frame the door than the rough opening?
Also interested to know this!
1/2 inch is standard. Gives you 1/4 inch all the way around to square the door.
I like the door design. You know this by now ;-) but don't forget to Z flash the top edge of the siding below the door.
Looking to build new doors for my grandpas shed. Is this door design good for limiting water from getting in the shed? Having to replace the floor as well due to water coming in under the door when it rains. Thanks!
Nice to see the progress on the shop. Keep at it!
Thanks 👍
Great video Sam! Keep building sir!
Always!
I like that door style. I really like the price tag.
Just about can't beat it for a shed building like this. :)
Insulating?
What are the dimensions of the opening versus the door dimensions? I am wondering how much of a gap needs to be left for the door to open properly.
It looks like you used a new piece of siding? Or did you put up a whole panel and then cut out the piece and reuse that piece you cut out?
Looking good. I have been thinking about reworking my garage door. The way you built your door looks like a good idea.
Thanks!
Hey man, what you shoulda done is-- Lol! I'm messing with you. So many armchair quarterbacks on RUclips. Love the video, bud! Really great way to approach this part of the process.
I appreciate your humor, you're dead-right about all the experts. :)
Really enjoyed watching the new shop go up. Great job! I wish I could have built my own shop but wood was so expensive I went with metal.
The price of wood has stopped several of my projects!
Every video you upload, why do people put you down by telling you how it should be done!? I’m a happy watcher and glad you’re doing something rather than pay cowboys to build it.
I really appreciate that! You're absolutely right... every video there's the comments...
No insulation in that door?
It is insulated. Dead air space.
@@Samcraftcom oooh ok I’m learning from you as I’m building my she shed this spring. I’m from Saskatchewan where the winters are so brutal, I’d never be able to make it warm enough if every inch wasn’t insulated to the max lol. You have a lot of great tips 👍 can’t wait till I can get started.
@@susansmith574 Ahh In that case, insulate everything!!!
I think I am going to borrow your idea for an interior door. The skins will be made out of 3/8 inch plywood and the frame will be made out of 2 by 3's . Hopefully it will be light enough for me to lift.
i remember grizzly adams, real good
The secret is that you didn't spare the screws on the door. I am addicted to my router. It is an intimidating tool until you use it and have the ooohhh moment. Why didn't I use it earlier. I am going to AC my workshop in one of the doors. I was skeptical about doing it but you have convinced me it's a great idea. Thks..
True... screwed the devil out of it! :) I only have one router and it's lived its sad life in the extension wing of my table saw. I rarely think of using it until well after the fact. Poor Mr. Router...
I build mine that way, too, but mine warp. I don't get it...
Ty
Hello sir so what is the opening size?
Why did you go 24 centers on the studs?
We get a lot of snow where I am, would it be OK to do an in-swing? Any disadvantages?
I can’t think of any problems with an in swing door in this manner. It’s basically a slab door, so would work fine. :)
@@Samcraftcom thank you.
Great door ! I would have insulated it . Just saying . 🙏
How much space did you leave for the door edges
About 1/4"
Just concerned about the hinges .. built a door like yours with only one side of plywood
Door is heavy …. Not sure what type of hinges to buy
Looking good. I like the way you built your door. I was wondering whether you should/would have used some insulation in between the sandwhich panels? Here in Denmark, that's a must for sure 🙂
Dead air space inside door is insulation.
Excellent video, great common sense as well.
My husband and I built a gate using the same method, except we used 1/4 plywood for the back as it's an outdoor gate exposed to rain. We then put wood laminate on the front.
Thank you for sharing 🙏
