- Silver tip tetras have always been a favourite of mine, mostly because of their uncompromising attitude and classic look. These are fish that's well worth keeping if you have the right set for them, but be warned though - if you don't they can be a nightmare for your other species as they take chasing to a whole new level.
My favourite fishy stuff! (yes these are affiliate links :) )
Lights
Nicrew Classic LED - amzn.to/3fG3Uv6 - Traditional led light that's got a nice high output in a white/cool colour range. Makes plants look extra green.
Nicrew SKY - amzn.to/3Ktn45U - really nice light for natural looking tanks, also the one I use for filming.
Filters
Pat Mini - amzn.to/3fE1u0k - popular for a reason, just a superb little filter thats great for shrimp tanks and fish alike.
ASAP - amzn.to/3nBuytp - the old favourite and the one i return to most frequently.
Air Pump
AP-3 Kit : amzn.to/34UMA3q - Great little air pump, not a silent runner, but has been very reliable for me.
Tanks
Scaper 45 - amzn.to/3KBxG2H - a lovely high quality tank that comes with a super strong light, and a decent enough hang on back filter - perfect for newbies and scapers alike.
My filming stuff
Camera - Cannon 200D - amzn.to/354OLlc - nice camera, easy to use.
BigTripod - Manfrotto befree - amzn.to/3GLXDdj - pricey but super sturdy and can take being knocked over a lot by clumsy operators.
Lil' tripod - amzn.to/355WmQs - can't pronounce the name but it's been a good tripod for filming things on tables or when I have tanks on the floor. - Животные
Your content deserves 20x the audience. Keep it up!
Love your channel! You do a great job!
You're the first I've seen to warn about their territorial behavior as adults. Thank you!
Another great video mate, was close to getting silver-tips for my 40 gallon rebuild but ended up with cardinals.
Cardinals are lovely too, although I really struggle to find ones that are healthy.
It seems that soon we will have a lot more new episodes of "All about" series Judging by the new fish that we see there... Keep them coming! And thank you!
Excellent work!! Bought many fish based on your reviews. You should try keeping the Kerri Blue Tetra and the Super Blue Kerri Tetra. They are great fish.
I have Lemon Tetras which are a similar shape and are also quite hypa active.
I've never seen seen these before.
Thank you. 👍
I’ve just bought a little shoal of tiny baby lemons 😀. Can’t wait for them to grow up. At the moment they are just little silver slivers 😅
Unless you know what your doing, these fish are not for beginners. Had some and had to rehome them. Did not have enough experience to properly keep them. Way too spicy for beginners.
Great balanced content. Thanks so much. I'm a relatively new aquarium keeper and I've been deliberating for a long while about which tetra species to start with, probably alongside Harlequin rasboras.. I keep swinging between Embers, lemon, Green neon, Glowlight, X-ray and these guys. Sooo difficult, but your coverage is very useful. Do you have any thoughts or previous episodes on X-ray tetras? Thanks again.
Love your content! Could you make a video on Cardinal Tetras (Red Neons)?
You are the best!
Loved this although not sure why most people recommend tetras up to 26C. They should be kept 27-28C, they're used to 28C in the wild. Happy Friday 👍
Not all tetras come from the same area, some are from subtropical areas that are much cooler.
@@giftofthewild6665 I understand that although most like warmer water.
Great video, thanks for posting!
In Singapore, my tetra tanks can reach up to 31 degrees if my tank fan is off. In one tank there’re even white cloud minnows, known to favour colder waters. All of them r fine!!
To be honest that kind of doesn’t surprise me. I think fishkeeping is one of those things where you know that the fish are hardy and tolerant as they would need to be in the wild. So they should be able to withstand many different conditions. But…. If I’m going to make a recommendation video then I’m going to stick in the safe middle ground. I don’t want to be the cause of someone keeping a species in completely the wrong conditions. Thanks for the comment - it’s great you let others know your experience with them 😃
@@tinymenagerie I was just responding to another commenter about higher temperature being fine, so I wasn’t trying to be obnoxious or cantankerous. Always loving your videos, very all-rounded insights always. Yes, nice to remain in the middle-ground for your species highlight video. Cheers! :)
There beautiful. What's the Rasbora you show with the silver tips there beautiful as well. Thanks for sharing 😊
I think it's an Espei Rasbora.
That was probably the hengeli rasbora. Also known as glowlight rasboras. They are tiny and supremely easy to keep 👍🏻
Thanks😊🐟
I love the looks of Tetras... I just picked up 6 similar to these, but they have red along that silver tip.
Ooh. That’s sounds fascinating and like a fish I don’t know. What are they?
@@tinymenagerie they are Red Phanton Tetra... and with embarrassment, I now see you have a video on them... but they are beautiful.
Cute ❤
Beautiful, active fish, but definitely on the aggressive side. I saw one male attack and kill another male when I kept them.
If I kept them again, it would be in a large heavily planted tank, with perhaps zebra danios or similar as tank mates that would not be intimidated by them.
Great video!
I also think they're brilliant! I do have too many males at the moment. At the shops, fish tend to be a bit too stressed to distinguish the genders. But they also breed fairly easily so I might try that and keep the females to get a better ratio in the main tank.
Just found your channel after getting back into the hobby recently. Awesome content, keep it up!
This is such a fantastic species profile! Especially about their behavior! Definitely a beauty and beast!
Thank you once again. Really love your content.
My silvers tips are truly mental and really add an extra dynamic to that tank. You just have to look at their latin name to know what they're like - HaseMANIA nana
You always have the most gorgeous scapes! I love you!! I’ve started mentioning you in all my comments with my American favorite RUclips guys. I absolutely adore your work and you give the greatest description of each fish and their individual personalities and needs!! Love ❤️ from America!!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! These fellas are on the shortlist for the tank that I'm planning and you touched on every important thing I needed to know. Keep up the good work and I'll be exploring the rest of your channel.
Wow great, a new Tiny menagerie vid, happy days
I just ordered some!
