Yeah! Tinwinis are in! My nano school of tinwinis was getting old...so glad to get some new friends ordered! The older school have done great in unheated planted tank (74 d), with some flow, about 20 fish. Tiny with black spots on body and fins, shiny gold pretties dancing around, very flashy against green plants. Once settled they are active but not at all frantic. Beautiful. My water is pretty hard.

I have always liked the red shouldered McMasterii, and these look better than most. Now I'm going to have to get a new tank, cycle it in, and hope there's still some of these left by the time it cycles. If they're sold out by then, that will be fine. There's always something here that I can't resist. At present, I'm saving up for a larger tank in which I can keep at least a pair of the Gastromyzon cf. lepidogaster hillstream loaches which you got in recently. I'm a nut for hillstream loaches, and two of the four species I've got from you thus far are breeding quite nicely for me. The other two species are still too young to breed If the babies grow up to be as nice as the parents, I'll give you right of first refusal on them. I'll probably be just giving them to you, so that you can realize any sales as profit. Once I have them grown out enough to be ready to go, I'll contact you regarding whether you want any or not. I plan to ship them the same way you shipped them to me, with the exception of not having a way to pump oxygen into the bag. If it's the heat of summer when they are ready to go, I will need to contact you regarding how to keep them cool during the heat of the summer months. Just as we all want to get more people into the hobby, I would like to see more people keeping these fun little fish. They have a ton of personality, and are absolute heroes when it comes to keeping dust algae and spot algae off of the tank glass and substrate. I have some live clams in my tank, and they keep the clams' shells absolutely polished to a reflective shine! The two pairs which are breeding right now are the reticulated and the red tails. I will be breeding the Borneo pair and the Vietnamese pair as soon as soon as they come of age. I can't wait to get the new tank, and get it cycled so that I can buy a Gastromyzon cf. lepidogaster pair from you and get them breeding. Any other species of hillstream loach which you can get, I will also wolf up, and start breeding them too, if you want them.
One thing I'd really like to get and breed is trilobites, but no one has been able to get them in for the last 251 million years. I wonder if it's supply chain problems, or if there's some sort of problem at the source?

I don't know if you knew you were doing some word play with the dwarf corys or not. Hastati (singular Hastatus) were Rpman foot soldiers who were spearmen, employed most often to counter cavalry. They would employ the spear to stab the house either in the chest, or in the mouth. So when you were speaking of Hastatus and "getting it from the horse's mouth"... oh boy! Not exactly the picture I wanted to have in my mind, but very good word play anyhow!

tinwini were hoarded by the company TinWin Exports the same year as the aaamazing "hikari" danio {thought to be 2 species for 16 years because males have a burgandy hue on the fins and females have blue!)... anyhow they tried to sell the tinwini exclusively, due to a pay off with the ShanWa ethnic group... there has been civil war raging for 3 or 4 years.... well 45 years honestly, it's East of Lake Inle... very remote Thai and Myanmar jungles and 2600-4000ft elevation hill stream species.
It appears Hong Kong and possibly an Indonesian collective of farms have had access to new collection points in Thailand. you can tell which batch by the color of the fins on males...males from myanmar have a beautiful crimson and cerulean blue (yes, both colors at the same time... like a wild betta will get on the tail often, but only less pronounced). these sport silver males and bronze females.... the newer ones from the thai side of the mountains, or perhaps just more domesticated and genetically mixed, only show an ever so slight aubrn transluscent color on just the dorsal, with males silver and copper bodied and females gold or brass bodied.
sorry for lengthy reply, theyre an all time personal favorite fish of mine... easy to spawn also!
