Sorry for your problems. I had the same on my 2018 Sahara JL. 5 spots of galvanic corrosion. Mine was garage kept, 20,000 miles, pristine. I loved the Jeep but between this and my death wobble, I lost trust in the vehicle and to your point, the customer services sucks. I took advantage of the used car market and sold it for $1,000 more than I paid for it 3 years ago. However, you are right, my car fax showed 13 trips to the dealer for death wobble, stereo and US gremlins, and then paint corrosion. When I took the Jeep to THEIR body shop, the body shop owner was cool and he said, DUMP it, "if I fix this it won't matter, they won't have me fix all of the issue or fix it right" (painting the underside of the hinges to prevent contact with a different metal). I traded it on a new 2021 Toyota 4Runner Venture, and I will not look back. I enjoyed the deep on it's good days, but I have no trust in the Company.

at least they try to help my dealership elkins autos told me that they can't find the PSA for it so I called FSA to ask if I can get the PSA number and they said that my Vin been back listed so can't work on it at all. thanks FSA/Jeep for turning a fan for 40 years in to a TRD man.
      # stop buying it.
p.s why are Jeep so Customizable is because you are fixing the problems that the company FSA did not care after you drop over $50k MSRP and then the dealership mark up😢 why Jeep, you put the rope on your own neck and when you are looking at chapter 11 and all your CEO and Chairman are in your 3000 dollar Sute and sitting at a $20,000 table with your Ph.Ds looking at each other asking how did we get here?
the smartest man in the room and I hope is the next CEO will stand up and say stop making junk.

Thank you - it was really helpful. After watching the video - I'm changing my plan to order a 2door 2023 Willys. Gonna call the dealer tomorrow to take me off the wait list.

I have an 08 Wrangler. Exact same issue. I bit the bullet and spent the 200 CAD dollars on new hinges. These are powder coated steel hinges. After removing the original ones I found a ton of powdery salt build up behind the hinges and of course bare metal. Before installing the new hinges I cleaned everything up, primed and painted the bare metal, then put a layer of silicone on the ne new hinges. Installed the new hinges without issue. 2 winters and not a hint of corrosion.

I have a TJ, not a JL, but without knowing which parts of the vehicle are aluminum, that “powdery” buildup, sounds very much like oxidized aluminum and not salt…

Have a similar issue with my 2019 Jeep JL Wrangler. Found corrosion under the paint on the bottom edge of one of the doors, dealer started by saying it was a run in the paint from the factory. I told them them I have pictures several weeks apart that show it has visibly grown and it’s very much like problems they have been having since 2013 on many of their other vehicles that use aluminum body panels. Had to show them my pictures and show them a copy of the Collision Bulletin (31-001-18 Rev B) from Chrysler that shows them the steps needed to repair it and I was told this is the first that he’s heard of the problem. Mind you this document covers 23 different models dating back to 2013. Seeing the run around you have gotten so far is not promising. Thanks for putting this out there for others to see.

Clearly, all of your concerns regarding corrosion and customer service are valid…Period!
Having said that, it’s my understanding, that keeping your vehicle in a garage in the winter, may make the problem worse…(I’m in Canada, New Brunswick, so copious amounts of salt are used in the winter…) Anyway, if the vehicle is kept outside, where it’s really cold, the salt is not nearly as effective at melting the snow and ice…As a result, the ‘galvanic’ reactions, are greatly reduced…I’m not a chemist or a metallurgist, but I think this is correct…
Obviously, this is a short term solution…Getting rid of the salt ASAP, is vital, but keeping the vehicle outside, should buy you some time, until you get a chance to have the vehicle washed…
In any case, it sounds to me like the aluminum has not been properly primed, prior to installing the hinges, or that the steel hinges are installed on the vehicle, prior to the aluminum having been properly anodized, and or primed…

Loved your video. I bought a 2018 JL Sahara Unlimited and like you bought didn’t lease or have car payments. Year after owning Jeep had to take in for corrosion. 6 months later corrosion again and now on all 4 doors. It will come back. Frustrating because this will never end and I can’t even enjoy my Jeep.

No hinge corrosion on my 2020 jl but both batteries went bad ar 23,000 miles. Now the 3 year warranty is up and the transmission is leaking oil. Only 24,000 miles, 3rd and final jeep.

I have the jeep wrangler Sport S 2019 and I have the same problem in the chassis. The issue is that I only use for go to the work. Iam in Puerto Rico never snow and we dont use salt in the roads. The jeep wrangler is an expensive vehicle for the price. I think that jeep should fix that problem.

I had the same problem 2018 Jeep wrangler JL doors and hinges getting corrosion only 9,000 miles they
had to painted twice. With in 2 yaers. Good thing it was covered by the warranty I said that's it traded in for a Toyota 4runner.

I’m surprised the corrosion issue hasn’t turned into a class action. I had the same issue with my 2012 and the forums are littered with people having the same issue.

Hi I just discovered your channel there is another gentleman with the same issue . Jeep does not paint the hinges right causing corrosion I have a 2010 and a 2014 as well as a 2021 gladiator. The 2010 and the 2014 have some lever of hinge corrosion. It is unacceptable the new models should have this issue given the enormous price tag.

get rid of it and get a 2014+ JK, the JL frame will corrode too, seems like the quality of the steel they used went down. JLs show up corrosion underneath in the frame weld points after a couple of years while 2014+ JKs still look like new after 7 years.
Or undercoat the whole deal with some quality stuff.

Mine has been in the shop to be repainted for the last 28 days. Part of it was repainted the first week I got it. It has spent 35 days in the shop for paint issues in the 15 months I have been the owner.

The aluminum on the vehicle, should be anodized, prior to being painted…The same process as with aircraft…The primer used, should be Zinc-Chromate…(toxic and carcinogenic), but it works!

I do not know if it is just luck or not. I painted under my hinges with touch up paint when i first got it to cover up bare metal. So for so good. 40 thousand miles

My JK (and many others) have the same corrosion issue but the paint usually bubbles on the hinge itself rather then the door, sucks that this is happening cause at least with the JK all you need to have repainted is the hinge rather than the door itself. Hope Jeep and correct this cause it’s been 15 years in the making now.

So everyone has a problem but no one tells the phone number to call & the got authorization to be repair or had the 4 Door send new to a shop to treat & paint under Warrenty!
Saying you have a problem does nothing to get the problem fixed!

I have a 21'. Its a manufacturing problem. They leave the doors unpainted under the hinges. Moisture and stuff gets in there. Starts to corrode. Jeep does bandaids and tells you to F off

@@JCx13 corrosion from salt on your vehicle exlerates with heat and no air , when you park your vehicle in the garage after driving on roads covered with salt and brine the heat that dlsapates as the vehicle is cooling off is trapped in the garage causing for corrosion to occur quicker

    • @JCx13
      @JCx13 3 года назад

@@joewe23 salt on vehicle Parked inside or outside....will cause corrosion over time regardless.
I understand your point on (indoor) but the main thing is to wash it of the elements as much as it’s needed.
In the end this jl door hinge corrosion has zero to do with parking inside or outside. Or climate....it’s combination of dissimilar metals in this scenario.
      Also....last time I checked you were an importer-exporter! 😉

For what Jeep chargers for a Rubicon I can’t believe this is acceptable in their eyes. Interior looks good, but that touch screen is junk. That paint will bubble and flake in no time.
