She explained nano-biology and made me love it using examples jokes. Her expressions add a lot to it, I wish her the best of luck with this research and hope she'll contribute her part to make this world a better place. :)
This medical invention is going to save millions of human lives in the world. She really did a good job! Fatima is a refugee from Iraq and came to Denmark to live a better life. Now she contributes to both Denmark and the rest of the world community. Who said refugees and hijabi Muslim women can't contribute?
This is one of the most interesting Ted talks I’ve ever watched. Bacteria research and stem cell research are the future of biological science. I can’t wait to see what will be discovered. Well done Fatima! You are so inspirational!
That’s what I want in medicine......simplicity with a touch of awesomeness....... Never thought of bacteria sharing genetic material as a type of communication.... Thank you Fatima mam please explore more and enlighten us...
@GrimsAllure I can't be sure, but looks like she wears it by choice. I don't think she's the type of person or in a position that she can be forced to do that.
@Mohib Khan 👏👏👏 Unfortunately, the media do not want people to know all about Islam and Islamic civilization. They focus on periods of weakness and leave periods of strength away.
@GrimsAllure I decided to wear the hijab by choice in a country where it's totally ok to not wear it. I'm studying to be an archeologist. And I'm not the only one. My mum had illiterate parents yet was encouraged to get an education and left home at 18 to go to university and became a Lab tech and later on decided to study law and is now close to getting her PhD (she is a hijabi as well and decided to wear said hijab after she left home out of her own free will) my father has been nothing but supportive from the very start. And those are just my immediate family examples. I can't tell you of how many hijabis I studied with in my short stunt in med school that have graduated. Or the many hijabis that were my highschool classmates that now have masters degrees and are not stopping there. Stop thinking that we're wearing our scarfs because we're oppressed. But then again, I don't blame you, you must be jealous that we don't get cold in the winter lol
Absolutely astonishing. Combining brain, beauty and charm. So charismatic!! If she succeed with her idea Google should rreally add this language to the translator hahaha
Given that antibiotic immunity and MRSA are becoming a real problem these days, this work could be revolutionary! Keep up great work m'am! We 're eagerly awaiting results.
Hah!!! I was just introduced to Quorum Sensing after watching a John McAfee interview! After a mere 2 minutes of listening to this TEDx along with Bonnie Bassler, this biology is essentially identical to the "Mycelium Network". Of which Humans' "internet tech" mimics... This is truly a "Fractal Universe" we reside in....
Wow, you are brilliant, creative. Thank you for using metaphor to give me intellectual access to fascinating processes. Thank you for your obvious compassion for making me feel how important this research is. I've been watching videos on this all morning. Your presentation is far and away my favorite.
She can't be trusted as a Muslim. Why would she tell us the public one thing, then believe in something else? It is obvious that she would abandon her work for her beliefs.
I was watching this the whole time thinking I would learn a way to check from home if I have a bad bad bacteria in me or a way to sense/feel/ see if my bacteria is speaking together against me ... ...
A bit more detailed explanation of her research would definitely have been better but anyways interesting talk, hope she can achieve what she's working towards 👍
Excellent. Beautiful and fun explanation.simple and accurate explanation.continue to do more and provide more effective treatment to patients.thank you
Makes an interesting case for diagnostic tests by proxy, although she mentioned earlier on in the talk, bacterial conjugation. Could there be a risk that plasmid transfer could lead to a false positive diagnosis and drugs would target microbes necessary for normal health?
I want to know if Bacteria have their own version of Facebook. :P (JK) So essentially, this is all a big 'what if ' right? If it does work it could easily be a breakthrough in technology and medicine.
Just wait man, in due time we'll find out about it too... and we'll also find their youtube, twitter, twitch, blogs and websites not to mention the IP address' of their tiny little computers...

I could listen to her talk all day. She made the subject of bacteria funny and understandable.
Truly this is the most inspiring example of a science communicator. Proud
This is inspiring, a revolution in the medical field - by a woman, who is Muslim and wears a hijab. This is called pure success !
🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely fantastic. All the best Fatima!
This is one of the most interesting Ted talks I’ve ever watched. Bacteria research and stem cell research are the future of biological science. I can’t wait to see what will be discovered. Well done Fatima! You are so inspirational!
This blows my mind!! well done ted, gorgeous lady!!!!!!
One of the best talks yet. why is this on tedx and not TED???
Beautiful and simple explanation of complex terminologies, superb work Mam

Why many people are surprised or amazed because she is Muslim there are many like her . Please open up to the world more 💓
@GrimsAllure I can't be sure, but looks like she wears it by choice. I don't think she's the type of person or in a position that she can be forced to do that.

I would love to be able to communicate with bacteria and tell them how much I like them.
+🖤
Tell that to E.Coli.
You luv them because they make you sick and that makes you sit at home bascially you luv home mmm
I like the way she's explaining this. So, she basically the bacteria whisperer?

She can't be trusted as a Muslim.

Neither can....you be trusted.

@Enigma 25 I found her scientific articles online in different scientific journals! I know TEDx don't allow very specific detailed science talk'

Spying on bacteria?
Wow!! Let's say hello!
than we have to introduce them to friends and family buy them bacteria-sized chocolates and invite them to dinner...
Bactria phage can integrate into a bacterial genome and only go into synthesis phase when it detects bacterial communication proteins
I hope governments will let more money into resarch and development of those old fashioned cures
Awesome quite fabulous lovely great
Wow it's great good go on my lady
جميلة جداً حقيقي يعني 💚💚💚
Very good 😀
Makes an interesting case for diagnostic tests by proxy, although she mentioned earlier on in the talk, bacterial conjugation. Could there be a risk that plasmid transfer could lead to a false positive diagnosis and drugs would target microbes necessary for normal health?
Well she did say that the project was in it's beginning stages... maybe she's working on it?
This was so cool

Will this work for viruses as well or only bacteria?
I want to know if Bacteria have their own version of Facebook. :P (JK)
