Every day Greg Miller, Tim Gettys, and Nick Scarpino talk about the biggest stories in nerd culture.
Ah yes, who could forget the BEST MCU MOVIE. YOU HEARD ME.
FUCKING PREACH
It's so not
Eli David Ortiz ur opinion man
Great movie; nothing compared to The Winter Soldier
athemocracy Facts
You fellas did it... an episode officially longer than the film you're talking about lol
Also everyone has such amazing beards god damn
Had no idea you watch these guys. Awesome! Love your stuff man.
so true
You guys should mention the theory that Obadiah Stain (TONAY!) was secretly a member of hydra. It explains why he seemingly went crazy at the end of Iron man 1.
Dude that's such a cool idea!
TIM IS WRONG! He DEFINITELY says "The Empire Strikes Back" in Civil War.
Yeah it’s definitely him not understanding the people he is speaking too would know the movie he is talking about about enjoy it
Chris Winslow YEAP Im sure he did
Chris Winslow ur right he did
No way, Tim is right... kinda.
He is definitely derogatory towards Star Wars in Civil War. No Star Wars fan, with their bedroom done he way he has, would eve talk about Star Wars that way.
And Iron Man and WarMachine react as if he has no idea what Star Wars is.
Rob Wright he’s kinda right about that part but all I know is Spidey definitely calls it “Empire Strikes Back”
My favourite thing about this is all the "Podcasts Within Podcasts":
Chillin' With The Villains
Rad Guys on Bad Guys
Rank Those Abs
Wiggin' Out
Science With Kev
How High Can They Go? w/ Nick Scarpino
Matt Rorabeck you forgot the one about wigs
Matt Rorabeck Shout out to the original Podcast Within A Podcast, the Geostorm Podcast starring Nick, Andy, and Elyse Willems.
ArkhamArachnid No he didn’t.
How about those theme songs though?
does chillin with the villains even exist tho? i think it was replaced with ragu bagu
Tim is wrong. In Civil War Spider-Man says "that old movie, Empire Strikes Back"
Dustin Cunningham he usually is
THANK YOU! - Greg
Spiderman: "Hey any of you guys remember that really old movie, Empire Strikes Back"
War-Machine: "Tony, how young is this kid?"
This iteration of spiderman is fantastic, Tom Holland is amazing and the writing is witty and just perfect. He stole the show in Civil War even next to all those established characters and Homecoming is easily the best in the whole MCU for me
Homecoming is great, but I wouldn't put it at #1.
Spectacular Spiderman was such an amazing series. The animation wasnt that great, but the writing fully realized every character in the Spiderman series. By the end you end up wishing there was one more season - If you want a great narration of the venom backstory its in Spectacular Spiderman
Kareem El-Baradie I would argue that the animation in Spectacular was great (how fast and smooth the characters moved on screen, rewatch it to see how good this was). It was the art style and character design that was super simple and not great. However I felt like the simple art style was chosen so that the great, smooth, quick animation was easier and better produced. Also, the story and character arcs was great, along with the voice acting!
Considering my name is Pedro, this movie was fucking amazing
Anytime someone says something Kevin disagrees with: "Whaaaaaaat?! You're crazy." lol
Wow, KF are the only people I know arguing that Spider-Man is the best movie in MCU. It's very strong, but the best movie in MCU? Wow.
Probably confirmed a million times, but sorry Tim, Spider-Man very clearly calls out Empire Strikes Back. Though him referring to the AT-AT as “walking thingys” would probably add to your argument.
in no way, shape or form is spiderman homecoming the best marvel movie
That ending. Lol
I was with Jack where I definitely wouldn't have ranked it that high. Yeah, it does well as a standalone as opposed to the other films BUT now you're just reaching considering you guys hadn't considered that with some of the other films you reviewed. It's a great movie but as Jack mentioned you're reviewing the movies in the MCU as a whole and I think films like Winter Soldier and Civil War did a better job setting up a lot for the other films that came after it including Homecoming, Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther and Inifnity War. The ranking system here isn't always consistent. Looking at it objectively, again Homecoming is a great movie especially as a resurrection of sorts for the franchise, BUT it's not the best film in the MCU.
This is longer than the film!
James M I'll watch this entire review first because I want to have a first opinion before dedicating 2 hours watching a movie
My List:
1: Winter Solider
2: Civil War
3: Black Panther
4: Spider Man Homecoming
5: Guardians of the Galaxy 1
6: Avengers
7: Iron Man
8: Guardians of the Galaxy 2
9: Doctor Strange
10: Ant Man
11: The First Avenger
12: Age of Ultron
13: Thor 1
14: Iron Man 2
15: Iron Man 3
16: Hulk
17: The Dark World
Eli
Good taste.
I loved Spider Man homecoming. Easily the greatest spider-man film ever
But to rank it #1 over the winter soldier, civil war, black panther, or even the first avengers film yall are reaching HARD lol wow
Tacardia Studios My top 5 is
Civil War
Avengers
Ragnarok
Homecoming
Black Panther
God, it's so good to have our boy home! Finally having a kid play Spider-Man makes all the difference. Tom Holland is perfect. I love the liberties they took (Liz being Vulture's daughter). Playing with the lore like that made for one of the best twists.
For me, the film never felt quite as epic as the Rami ones did. But it did so many things right. The comedy, the tone, all of it.
Seeing him in Civil War felt like seeing him for the first time since 2007, like the reboot never happened. It feels fresh and classic at the same time.
Alex Love I feel like nostalgia causes the Raimi films to get more credit than they deserve. I grew up watching those movies and I love them. But I rewatched all the Spiderman movies before Homecoming came out and I forgot how horribly cheesey they are.
Mr. Manager, that's because they're supposed to be. Rami did the silver age Steve Ditko/Stan Lee Spidey. It's good cheesy. It's not nostalgia. Those movies are gems.
Alex Love idk man, I don't think they hold very well at all.
Ewan Callister that checks out.
Ewan Callister swap 5 and 6 and that’s my list
my ranking so far

17. Captain America 1st Avenger
Some thoughts - "Skedaddle young buc" is one of the greatest tony stark lines ever. For representing blue collar working class, the vulture lived in a fancy ass house. I know Michael Keaton played batman, but I'd love to see him soon in some "Joker" like role after demonstrating a villain. The dude has the voice and some unstable menace behind those eyes!
While I do like this movie and it is fun, I was bummed out how there were no consequences for Peter. He constantly skips out of school and runs away from his field trip an only gets 5mins in detention. A student literally has a bomb in his backpack that explodes and almost kills people and nobody questions it. The only consequence was he gets his suit taken away. The OG spider man and in the comics were all about decisions and how they affect the people around Peter while in this movie people kept giving him a pass. Still a good movie tho.
Thank god someone else has this problem. Peter's life is actually pretty easy in this movie. Every bad choice he makes has little to no consequences. Ned doesn't seem bothered by being ditched by his best friend at the party. Aunt May drops the fact that Peter is sneaking out every night and is clearly lying to her. Peter gets off easy with the principal for ditching class. Despite Peter giving Ned a bomb, everyone on the elevator is perfectly fine. Peter gets the nice spider suit at the end of the film anyways, despite rejecting it and making many mistakes throughout the movie.
I understand that there doesn't have to be a consequence for every mistake. Not even the other Spidey films did that because it would be a bit ridiculous. But man this movie has no consequences.
I just account it to you can more easily flesh out things like that in a cartoon or comic than in a movie.
It's a reboot for a reason, after ASM getting bogged down in the drama I think they stayed away from that for this one. I think the next one will have consequences
Nick, you made me listen to this whole podcast again while I was looking for your Spider-man "jump" moment. I have since learned that its in Far From Home but I will finish episode first since you guys put out awesome content 🤘
In Civil War, Spidey does say "Have any of you seen that really old movie, Empire Strikes Back?". I'm with Greg that it's not that weird for him to say 'really old movie'
Sean Bean HAS to be Uncle Ben. The jokes right themselves
got me
Yes!!!

Love watching the plot retelling while listening to the film's soundtrack. Keep up the great work!
Tim, just an fyi, Spiderman does say "that really old movie, Empire Strikes Back". He does directly refer to it.
You guys are nasty for ranking this so high
It's great but i still enioy Spiderman 2 more. Main problem with most superhero movies is i never feel the hero is in any danger. That's why i enjoy Logan so much.
Another 2 plus hour runtime? I feel spoiled
FINALLY! Loving this show twice a week!
Still think Killmonger deserves the top spot in RaguBagu
Tim's starting to show his age, Empire is a really old movie to a teenager.
Justin Forsythe has saying a true star wars fan with posters in their room wouldn't refer to empire the way spider man did in civil war and I agree with him
@Garrett Hannen , except this takes place after Civil War, so he may have got into the series after pulling off the airport stunt.
Justin Forsythe watch the movie again, he does say Empire Strikes Back
You’re wrong
Empire is an old movie to the original Star Wars cast.
My Personal Ranking
1. Captain America:The Winter Soldier
2. Captain America:Civil War

15. Thor
16. Iron Man 2
17. Incredible Hulk
18. Thor:The Dark World
AzRealAsDeyCum Finally, someone that agrees with me that GOTG Vol 2, Homecoming and Ragnarok should be nowhere near the top of MCU rankings.
Layek Ahmed Oh yeah, most definitely not. Although I enjoyed those films. They were a bit too silly for me to rank them high up. Also there were moments where I was bored. Unlike some of my top MCU films, where I was totally enjoying them from beginning to end. I don't care too much for comedy. So when a movie has that tone, it lowers my interest and enjoyment. I gravitate towards the more serious tone MCU movies.
It's all about what you want from the movies. Great franchise that people love for different reasons. Ragnarok and Homecoming are 3 and 4 respectively on my list and Winter Soldier, which I didnt know people loved so much, is 7.
Where’s Greg?
No way in hell Homecoming is the best of the MCU so far. This is the one ranking I was legit shocked from seeing.
Re watching these again, as love these more than anything else you do, but a harder episode to enjoy without Kevin!! BTW, Thor Ragnarok next, omg I'm moist at the thought....
Ok, I loved Spider man, definitely in my top 3 for marveo, but putting vulture above killmonger is CRIMINAL
Very surprised by the final verdict I knew Greg would say it's no 1 but you all just agreed easily
Prediction: This will be the new number one.
Reality: This shouldn't be any higher than eighth. What a good, definitely not great movie.
Prediction:
*Opinion:
Damned amazing. 2 hours and 26 mins of kinda pure gold. I've watched along for all of the MCU in review, most epic series
32:25 maybe after what happens in Civil War Peter constantly thinking about the airport fight he thinks about that really old movie and just watches them all over and over and gets into StarWars?
Crimsonfox MGI I'm thinking that too, because in Civil War his room is pretty bland, but it's all decorated in Homecoming. Makes me think he'd seen it before the airport fight, but got really into the franchise as he obsessed over his experience with the Avengers.
Tucker Prestridge exactly haha
Here's my rank so far.
1: Black Panther
2: Civil War
3: Spider Man Homecoming
4: Winter Solider
5: Guardians of the Galaxy 2
6: Guardians of the Galaxy 1
7: Avengers
8: Iron Man 3
9: Doctor Strange
10: Iron Man
11: Ant Man
12: Age of Ultron
13: First Avenger
14: Iron Man 2
15: Thor 1
16: Hulk
17: Dark World
By far the best ending credit scene of all the mcu in review !!! Well done !! Literally laughed out loud !!
Fun fact: Logan Marshal-Green also plays the guy who gets shot in the famous “Ooh, whatcha say” scene from The OC
Was listening to this in the background, and had to do a double take when Tim mentioned how good Specular Spiderman is!! I absolutely LOVE that show. The theme song was absolute fire!!!!
WarSox1657 the full song is even better
It's longer than the movie
Finally
Was kinda meh on release and does not stand up well to rewatches.
It's a good base to build on though. I think the sequel will be great.
wait... is Greg shirtless Spiderman or is he just playing around...
Samuel Burriss under rated comment
Shirtless Spider-Man let Greg borrow the mask. Although now, Shirtless Spider-Man has to be even more careful to not let people see his face.
loved every minute of this review and it is making me want to rewatch Spider-man homecoming again
I still get chills when Vulture figures out Peter = Spidey. The camera being just a little zoomed in too much and the green light. Eerie AF
I listened to the audio of this and came to the video on nicks advice, I was NOT expecting the second mask. That was AMAZING
One of my favorite parts of this movie is right after the Iron Man suit save him from the water. Tony is treating him like a kid, and Peter says "You didn't think I was kid when you asked me to steal Cap's shield" or pretty close to that, and Tony just looks straight at him and says, "Trust me kid, if Cap had wanted to lay you out, he would have." Love that line. RDJ is so good. Great show guys!
When you guys rewatch ragnarok. You should pay really close attention to the hulks voice. There’s just a hint of auto tune to it if you listen closely. It’s somewhat subtle but once you notice it, it kinda takes me out of hulks dialogue. Has anybody else noticed this??
“Fucking echo-chamber, bro”😂
Agree with the villain rank not so much the movie. I enjoy this flick, but I often find myself bored watching it. The whole high school background doesn't do it for me...in anything.
Hey guys just FYI the rankings are wrong on the description and on the podcast feed. Doctor Strange is supposed to be lower down. Keep up the great work! ❤
In a perfect world where the Marvel TV shows are connected to the movies a lot better, Tony calls the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. not the FBI and we get a cameo from the TV cast.
Describing Greg's hair as "Elegantly Disheveled".... Andy with the Say Anything pull... I see you, I see you.
My list so far:
1. Captain America: Civil War (2016) - Debated between this or Winter Soldier being better but this just has so many cool moments.
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) - The best standalone film which is a great film overall and not just as a superhero film.
3. Marvel’s The Avengers (2012) - Although it wasn't as good as I remembered. The highs are still so memorable.
4. Iron Man (2008) - Better than I remembered. Now I see why people think this is the best movie. Easily a classic.
5. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) - Had so much more fun watching this than the first time. Introduces and makes us love these characters so easily.
6. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) - Great depiction of Spiderman. Really funny movie. A few inconsistencies and plot holes make it seem a little unpolished. Plus the stakes never really felt high instead of “that scene”. I’d put it as the third best Spiderman movie after Raimi’s 2 and 1.
7. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) - Way better than I remembered. So many good moments but cannot compete with the other team up movies.
8. Iron Man 2 (2010) - Way better than I remembered. Thought this would be bad but was so much fun to watch. So many fun characters and interactions.
9. Ant-Man (2015) - Way better than I remembered. Paul Rudd and Michael Pena take this movie from potentially bad to great.
10. Doctor Strange (2016) - Very similar to Ant-Man in that they both had very unique action scenes but DS had very little humour and none of it laugh out loud funny. Paul Rudd’s charisma and the comedy puts AM only slightly higher.
11. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) - Slightly better than I remembered. Lots of attempts at jokes, not all of them land but still very funny. The action and emotional scenes were really good. But a lot of forced exposition and jokes combined with a messy/empty plot keep this from being higher on the list. While GOTG1 seemed to revolutionise the Marvel formula, GOTG2 gives us more of the same.
12. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) - Meh, this is mainly because Cap is my favourite character but also the movie has a lot of heart.
13. Iron Man 3 (2013) - Way better than I remembered. I thought this would be garbage but it was surprisingly entertaining if you turn your brain off.
14. Thor: The Dark World (2013) - Way better than I remembered. Same reason as Iron Man 3 but doesn't have the RDJ charm, although Loki might be as awesome.
15. Thor (2011) - Worse than I remembered. Hated the diagonal camera stuff, took me completely out of the movie. Still kind of fun but entirely forgettable.
16. Incredible Hulk (2008) - Don't even remember watching it the first time, probably won't ever watch again.
Homecoming is a really good movie but man, I wouldn't even put it in my top 5 tbh.
As a Missourian, Greg dropping "MODOT" made me chuckle. This was the best episode so far. Loved it.
Best MCU in review so far it was as much fun as the movie you reviewed
Upon second viewing this movie is just very good, not spectacular or amazing, just very good.
Keaton and Holland were perfect, but some of the cast/characters weren''t great.
In the top 7 for sure!.
Alexander Chilton Absolutely this!
You guys should consider ranking and reviewing the TV/Netflix stuff too. I don’t want this to end!!!
Nick is right, in the trailer there's a moment in the bank where Peter goes "Wait a second, you guys aren't the Avengers! Hulk gives it away." and starts shooting his webs. In the movie they changed the intro and then partway through the fight says "I'm starting to think you guys aren't the Avengers" but drops the Hulk line. Mostly the same joke, but I actually liked the version in the trailer better.
Thank you Greg for politely stopping Andy from talking about that Infinity War commercial
I was surprised that Homecoming ended up actually being one of the more forgettable good MCU movies for me. I loved Spidey in Civil War, but when it came time for his own movie I just didn't really care all that much. Might have been that the stakes weren't high enough? Not enough spiderman fighting in the suit? I know that's what most everyone seems to complain about most Marvel movies, but that's always what I've been in it for. Guess I need to watch it again.
My list:
1. Captain America: Civil War
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3. Guardians of the Galaxy
4. Avengers
5. Iron Man
6. Black Panther

13. The Incredible Hulk
14. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2
15. Captain America: The First Avenger
16. Thor
17. Thor: The Dark World
Superior taste with the shout out to Spectacular Spider-Man
He definitely says that old movie Empire Strikes Back in Civil War.
17. Thor The Dark World (2013) 4/10- D+
16. Iron Man 2 (2010) 7/10- C+
15. The Incredible Hulk (2008) 8/10- B-

2. Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014) 10/10+ A+
1. Captain America Civil War (2016) 10/10+ A+
Realizing them discussing the suburb setting, most people don't realize that Queens can get pretty suburb-y
"Hey guys! You ever see that really old movie, 'Empire Strikes Back?'" is his line in Civil War.
There's not a chance this is better than either Captain America CW or TWS. The themes those movies tackle are so relevant in today's world. The action is much more tactile and choreographed. The emotions hit harder. Homecoming is really good. Should be a solid number 3.
How come every time Kevin watches a movie he instantly wants to put it number 1
I'm with Tim here, the first few trailers were bad for homecoming and the majority of people thought they were too. Also it wasn't Raimi's fault Spiderman 3 was bad, it was Avi arads, if Raimi wanted money he could've stayed and negotiated for a larger cheque
Still not better then the first Spider-Man movie. But great in its own right.
Killmonger is easily the best villain in the MCU.
The MCU in review is 20 minutes longer than the movie :) Sweet
Spidey’s got enhanced durability and a enhanced healingfactor.A bullet would pierce his skin in and out of the comics anyway,it’s one of the ways both comicbook artists and filmmakers usually portray his spideysense and enhanced reflexes
The scene with Peter buried under the building is just such.. quintessential Spider-Man. He's strong and smart and fast.. but when it comes down to it he's almost always overpowered by his foe and has to scratch and claw to win.
Is Jack the most KF person who is not actually KF? It’s never a bad time when he comes to visit. Love you Jack!
Someone needs to make a highlight tape of kevin calling every movie number one
Wow last time I was this early, I got asked to leave because I was early
Brendon lastynam We’re going to have ask you to leave until a later time.
Star lords first time returning to earth is going to be so interesting to watch
Thor Ragnarok about to be the new #1 next episode lol
Not a chance in hell.
I mean, Civil War is my #1, with Spider-Man being my #2, and Ragnarok being my #3, so I’m pretty content with this list. Though, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is a mid-tier movie at best in my mind, the first one is way better.
They'll make Ragnarok #1 and then Infinity War #1 after that. Don't know where Ant Man and Wasp will end up.
Spectacular Spiderman is a great series, wish it was still on Netflix
Winter Solider, Black Panther, and Guardians Vol. 1....my Top 3
What is Kevin talkin about? Kenneth Choi reprises the role of Jim Morita from Cap 1 in Agents of Shield. Same character
Lmao Greg sounds like he just never got invited to any of the fun parties
1) civil war
2) guardians of the galaxy V2
3) Ragnarok
4) guardians of the galaxy
5) black panther
6) iron man
7) winter soldier
8) avengers
9) Spider-Man
10) doctor strange

13. Thor
12. Iron Man 2
11. Avengers: Age of Ultron
10. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2

5. Captain America: Civil War
4. The Avengers
3. Iron Man
2. Spider-Man: Homecoming
1. Guardians of the Galaxy
During the scene where the the vulture drops Spider-Man into the pool, right as the camera pans to follow Spider-Man downward, you can see the vultures silhouette against the moon and it looks very similar to the batwing moon shot scene from the 1989 Batman.
Did you guys film this and Guardians 2 on the same day? WoW, Poor Jack
Damn you Tim, I had to pause the video to watch that Tom Holland Lip Sync battle. It was as good as you said.
Panzer GS idk about poor Jack, he lives for this nerdy shit haha
Ranked high. Ironman is ranked too high too. Being a Spiderman fan seems bias.
It's a major disservice to Black Panther to not get a rewatch.
As the representative of the Black Delegation we demand a Black Panther rewatch after Infinity War
James Edwards seconded. Knew BP would get screwed by them reviewing it early
Black panther is pretty good. It’s ranked perfectly here
Preach!
Sam Schmitt top 5 MCU movie.
Black Panther is definitely in the top 4.
i'm calling Bullshit on the Abs disqualification! Tom's a dancer, gymnast and spends a wholllle load of time in the gym. His physique is most definitely earned! I sure as hell didn't look like that at 21!
Yeah, the whole skinny abs hate is ridiculous and comes from people that are jealous that those people can achieve them without wasting 90% of their life in the gym
Anybody else catch that shirtless Spider-Man pulled off the mask in the post-credits scene? Guys. It's been Greg this whole time!
i always thought spider-man became a star wars fan between civil war and homecoming because tony showed him the movies on their flight back to new york
One thing bothers me about this discussion... Spider man says "Hey everyone" in the trailer for civil war, civil war and homecoming. No continuity error there.
It took me two sittings to watch Homecoming. I watched about 30 minutes and genuinely wasn't enjoying Holland's Spiderman. So I just stopped. I couldn't force myself to watch it despite how excited I was for it and how much I love Spidey. Tried again 2 weeks later, from the beginning, and it just clicked. My fourth favorite movie in the MCU
