When I was looking at small pets, I did so much research. I decided on Guinea pigs as I felt like their life expectancy wasn’t too short, and they could be contained. They have less health problems than other rodents and would fit our lifestyle better, we now have 3 and are getting two more next weekend. We’re very excited. :)
@@TheTinyHerd so I have a long haired Guinea pig I took him to the vet and it’s not a uti or anything the vet didn’t really say much about being wet though Bc he’s healthy but need advice keeping his hair dry after he pees hes always peeing on himself and his hair is wet
@@alliebenner3856 sorry I just saw this since it was hidden in a reply! If you have long haired pigs, trim up the hair on their bums so they aren't dragging it. Make sure their cage is extra clean as well. I do bum baths with my long haired pigs every 3-4 months!
I used to have two Guinea pigs and got more as they had children.. they always used to sit on the sofa with me they had their own cusion they would sit on they would come over and stretch on me with their little back feet stretchng out the back for pets. They were never scared of anything. They would never try and jump of the coutch so you could leave them there on their own and they were happy. I remember the kother used to sing when she was pregnant, and when the babies came along we used to put them outside to eat the grass and the babies used to follow the mum in a line and if one of the babies stepped away the dad would come up and push it back he always was the last at the back of the line, it was amazing to watch. But I first had the mum simce she was a baby on her own the introduced a male about a year later who was already an adult and they got on great. I miss them 🥺

Excellent points! I have cats and guinea pigs and I'm currently fostering a bunny and a hamster. My piggies definitely require the most work. They're in my son's room, and I don't want it to smell, so I spot clean their cage 3 times a day, plus washing all the fleece, on top of the hay mess... it's a lot. The bunny requires the most time. She's in an x-pen and I let her out at least twice a day for at least an hour each time, and it's not optional. If I take too long to let her out in the morning, she starts digging and destroying everything. She's easy to clean up after though. I spot clean her litterbox every evening, and once a week I dump the whole litterbox and start fresh and wash the blanket in her pen. That's about it. If I were going to adopt rabbits, I would fully bunny-proof a room where I'm going to spend a lot of time anyway and make sure I have two. I think that would be the only situation in which I could commit to caring for bunnies long-term. The hamster is the easiest and cheapest. I only have to wipe out his wheel every day and spot clean his enclosure about once/week. I hardly ever see him though, so he's not a whole lot of fun (but VERY cute). Cats are a close second in being easy, but they're the most expensive. Their food is expensive, the vet is expensive, vaccines, licensing, everything that they intentionally break out of spite that I have to replace, yada yada... it adds up. Easy day-to-day though... just their litterboxes and random piles of vomit from where they tried to eat something not edible.
Oh, and out of all 6 of them, only one of the cats actually enjoys being held. The rest of them prefer their feet on the ground. The bunny loves to cuddle, but on the ground. The other cat, one of the piggies, and the hamster are fine with being pet in moderation. The other piggy doesn't want to be touched.

He still has to go out even when it's raining or snowy and then needs his feet cleaned off. I also don't like leaving him home alone for more than a few hours at a time (though he does love coming with me when I go places he can go) so I have to plan around him when I do anything. I have a lot of time and taking them out of the cage and playing much is no problem, i want do less cleaning if it’s possible... i want them to live long, and i want them to cuddly and be social. I want them to be pretty comfortable with getting picked up if that’s possible. I would love if them to be healthy generally. What’s the best for me? If it’s any help i also have an dog who is super kind
You can't guarantee that any animal will be social and cuddly and liked picked up. I'd adopt from a shelter or rescue that can tell you a bit about their personalities. Same with health. There's a lot more that goes into having both rabbits and guinea pigs than is in this video, so I recommend doing even more research!

You can get a single rabbit if you give them enough attention. They are very territoral, and can fight if the two you choose happen to dislike each other. Or choose a pair of guinea pigs instead.
Can you have one of those free roaming on your house or the bite and destroy a lot of things? I ha e a bunny free roam potty trained and my house basically Bunny prove. Don't know if Guinea pig is very similar as having a bunny.

Bunnies aren't bad luck, that's not a thing. With guinea pigs and rabbits you need to have at least 2 of them for them to be happy. I would do research and see which is better for your lifestyle, and make sure your parents are on board since they'll likely be paying the costs.

Neither guinea pigs or rabbits really bite in general. If they do, it's likely because of poor handling or too much hand feeding. There's always exceptions, but they're not really bitey animals. I've only been bit by guinea pigs twice out of the 11 that I've owned, and both times it's because they accidentally got me instead of the food I was offering. Only been bit by one of my bunnies once and it was the same thing, got me and the food at the same time.
