  • In this series I'm turning the lightest production car engine in the world into a fire breathing beast!
I'm going to show you how to make some modifications to your mechanical oil pump in your engine. These engine oil pump mods are free and can be done in less than an hour if you have access to your engine and oil pump. If you have ever heard of oil pump shimming, that is part of what we will be doing as well as porting to get greater oil pump flow and higher oil pressure psi. The main reason for doing this would be if your going to a turbo or supercharged system and need a thicker oil or just more pressure and flow.

I did basically the same thing to a 429 BBF engine, along with rounding off and polishing the oil channels in the block. It was well worth the effort. The engine held great oil pressure and it had oil pressure immediately on startup.
Great idea and how to, thank you!

Thank you for this excellent video, for showing step by step how its done. Everything you said make sense and could not agree more.. would it be to much to ask you to do it on a Honda Vtx 1800🙏

will increasing the oil pressure result in the oil filter bypass opening more often?

Aparntly RUclips hasn't been notifying me of your videos. I thought you just took a break from videos but looks like I'm missing a build series here

Pumps generate flow not pressure. Resistance to flow creates pressure

This poor little engine has to deliver 300 horses? It‘s an open deck design if I’m not mistaken. Fingers crossed that she will survive 😉
    Good luck from Germany!

Have you ever thought about messing with the 4a92 as well? Jw I have a mirage and think the 4 would make power easier and be a smoother running engine. I wonder how modular they are as far as the mount and bellhousing etc. There isn't much room between the mirage frame rails so it probably wouldn't work for me but it looks like you have all the space. I don't see it being much heavier just being one more cylinder and the exact same design. If nothing else it could have an interchangeable front cover and a better flowing oil pump.

I’ve thought about other engines the 4A being one. I started with 3a as I wanted the lightest production engine, now it’s just sort of turned into a challenge to see how much power I can make with being so light 😜
