I’ve owned the 40mm Submariner for about 9 years, my Seamaster is a little younger. Looking at your video I’m built differently to you and the 42mm Omega looks and feels the right size on me. I dive with both, but only to about a tenth of their rating. No difference in performance. I’ve got a few straps for my Omega but the Rolex stays on the bracelet. If I had to keep one it’d be the Omega. I find myself wearing it more. I guess I won’t be mugged for a Seamaster. If I want an investment I don’t buy a watch.
own both. love both. but i like wearing the omega better. When I wear the omega i feel like i chose the watch. When I wear the sub, i feel like it's the market's choice, not necessarily mine
Own both too, and prefer the Sub. The Sub is just timeless, and the proportions and comfort are perfect. I would have a hard time choosing between the Speedmaster and Sub though.
Nice and honest comparison from someone that has experience using both of them. They are fantastic watches on their own merits. No need to pick between mom and dad.
Here is a long list of all the points he made. 1. Sub is more comfortable but you can make the Seamaster more comfortable on a rubber strap. (That’s it) 😂
I have owned the sub , seadweller deapsea seadwekker 4000 and Seadweller 43 50th anniversary. And in my opinion rthe Seamaster is the most satisfying and less boring.
It seems your review is based only on how the watch feels on wrist, in which case I agree the Sub feels more comfortable, less heavy and less sharp on the bracelet. However, in terms of the actual watch mechanics I'd have to disagree - the Omega is the better watch (Co-Axial tech, METAS certification, 15,000 gauss etc). The only other category is aesthetics and that's purely subjective. Overall, anyone saying that there is "no way" that the Omega is the better watch is just wrong (for the above reasons). It all depends on what you prioritise and put value on.
Hum… I am almost certain that the Rolex calibres are also amagnetic like the Omega. Both companies developed the amagnetic materials within a joint industry research project… So what Omega has in this respect, Rolex has. Rolex simply don’t push any marketing about it as it does not have to… Now, at this time I much prefer my Omega Seamaster NTTD as it is much lighter than any Rolex Submariner as well as it incorporates a Metas certified co-axial escapement 🤩 The titanium Seamaster should be improved with a titanium calibre incorporating the spirate system…
Pity the submariner was on the wrist the wrong way round, ruined the vlog a bit, so much for dedication to a lovely watch, more attention to detail needed. I do love both brands of watches though, cheers.
Both are fantastic watches but pound for pound the omega is a better watch. One of the main reason why people think the Rolex is the best is because they hold there value and the reason for that is supply and demand and Rolex are amazing at doing it. If Rolex flooded the market with stainless steel divers the price of these on the grey market would go down.
What a breath of fresh air listening to your comparison. I have both and agree with you 100%. I enjoy my Omega but there’s just no equal in divers to The Submariner 124060. And I’ve had other variations of the Sub. Thanks for truth telling. 🍻
@@BrendanBoswellThanks. It’s obvious to me the RUclipsr never spent any real time comparing these watches. Everyone knows the bracelet of the Seamaster is notoriously uncomfortable whereas the Submariner glide lock is the best in the industry. That fact alone makes the Sub far superior. That’s what happens when a reviewer never wears the watch and is motivated more by creating click bait. Keep them coming Brendan. RUclips needs your straightforward insight.
I have been buying watches since I was 18 years old in 1985. Interestingly enough, even through my teens spent in the Far East between Indonesia and Singapore and occasionally diving with Comex divers during recreational periods, I was never drawn into the Rolex aesthetics. I was at school with kids from Comex divers. So since then I acquired many watches but each time I was presented a Rolex, any Rolex, my reaction was meh… even though I knew the brand reputation. I have never gelled with Rolex aesthetics. Strange, isn’t it ?
Love the honesty. I’ve had a bond seamaster and the latest seamaster blue dial on a rubber strap. They were great, but every time I wore my sub they felt inferior in every way. No disrespect to Omega but it’s not even close. Nothing feels, wears or works like a Rolex. Also on another note Rolex always test and deploy technological improvements across their references instantaneously. For example when they made the sub 41mm, updated the bracelet size and movement it was done for the whole range instantly. No chance they would cock it up like Omega holding back the quick release straps and spirate system. Let’s not even mention how they updated the speedmaster and had no quick adjust on the clasp. Few months later, chronoscope had it! Pathetic!
Can’t really argue his conclusion while also respecting his approach to the assessment. I mean it could have been simpler by polling 100 people and learning that 100 to 0 would pick the Sub if offered one or the other instantly and for free. We know there would be,for a host of reasons, to include the foray into subjective statements on comfort and provenance many factors in one’s decision. I reach the same conclusion in both mentioned categories, but value, availability, etc are major considerations factored into a purchase decision and in many cases including these factors would result in less than a 100 in a 100 person sample selecting the Sub.
I have them both now, and I forget i'm wearing the Omega as well, but my wrist and forearm are way bigger than yours, that's probably why I'm not noticing it, almost 20 cm around the wrists.
I have both watches and i have to say omega its a better watch pound for pound no doubt about it i can't stop watching my two tone blue seamaster 💪... great content thanks 👍
I own 124060, wanted SMP and tried it. The clasp is horrible, so is the bracelet, the HE knob is annoying, the bezel action is embarrassing, there's AR coating on top of the crystal which defeats the purpose of the theme this watch is going. it's a stupid liability that will get worse with time until you polish it out or baby the watch like there's no tomorrow. The date gap between the dial and the mechanism is deep and annoying, gives off cheap feel they have to work in that direction if it needs to be better from the Sub, because it's not. The 007 version is better in this regard. Anyway, I walked out with a 3861 Sapphire Speedmaster - best modern Omega that is worth owning.
Was eyeing the NTTD Omega, but as I have a small wrist at 5.7inch I couldn’t wear the omega, i can get away with the size of the sub as it doesn’t wear like a 41mm, but logically the BB58 fits me best. The Rolex sub does feels way more comfortable than the omega.
aesthetics hands down for rolex sports watch especially all brushed oyster bracelet. but in specs, price, availability & versatile in strap i'll go with omega.
I absolutely love my standard speedy, if I remember correctly some of the 38’s are automatic and 15bar so their is that to consider. Appreciate you sharing and watching.
Bottom line is I had a 2008 16610ln Sub/ a 2018 116610ln Sub/ a 126610ln sub now from 2021. I also have 116710LN GMT and a 1216710BLRO GMT along with a 2021 black dial Omega Seamaster SMP. What I will say is that all of them are overbuilt tanks that will last a lifetime if worn everyday never taking it off for the rest of your lifetime. My favorite of all of them is the black/black GMT. It wears the best, has the most function, and it truly is a beautiful GADA watch for a lifetime. The Pepsi is great as well, but a little too much most of the time for my lifestyle. The new Sub 41 is too big for most wrists that are under 7.25 inches. Sure they can wear them, but the bracelet and the lug to lug make it look way too big as a daily watch on 75% of the wrists I see it on. The 16610 looks incredible on all sub 7 inch wrists and the 116610ln looks the best on all 7 inch wrists and above. The Omega 300 SMP is the most beautiful case. The perfect lug to lug size combined with the lyre lugs makes it gorgeous on all with 7 inch wrists and above. The issue is I have to wear it on a rubber strap because a non-tapering 90s bracelet looks so out of place. If it came 1mm thinner and on a 3 link oyster style bracelet like on the Planet Ocean it is 100% better looking and truly comparable watch to the Submariner. I am 52 years old and I have always loved the Sub since the 70s but I will say that the best watch in the Rolex catalog is the modern GMT. As tough as the sub in every respect and can go in the ocean everyday up to approx 400 feet. Ultra functional but at the perfect case size and bracelet for all wrists. If it ever gets a micro adjustment clasp it would be the perfect one watch collection in my opinion!!!
the green one, that green oyster perpetual does also look beautiful. For a daily wearer go to the gym, to the do anything watch witch one would you recomend? @@BrendanBoswell
Rolex considers everything the customer truly needs making it the perfect go everywhere do anything watch while omega tries to chase what it thinks the customer wants which makes it impractical. Only thing about the sub is I wish they’d make all the shiny ceramic matte ceramic instead. It needs to get back to its tool watch roots it has lost a lot of that charm with all the shine of the bezel and dial
The sub even gets better when you out it on oysterflex strap…I swapped my bracket out for the summer and I don’t want to take it off granted I have several other Rolexes, Omegas, Cartiers, and Breitlings.
Submariner is a fantastic watch. i owned one until sadly had to sell after covid affected my business. I really miss it but was always a little concious getting mugged! Seamaster 300 tried one recently in Auckland a lot heavier and bigger watch built like a tank. Lovely watch though and if i cant get the sub again i will purchase the SMP 300
Don’t do it! I did the same wasted 1000’s Omegas. Look at The Swiss Link they have a submariner just a bit above MSRP mint they ship worldwide ☘️ if you reach out to me on instagram I’ll get you the Deal Of The Week price from last weeks episode.
I much prefer the Seamaster NTTD as it is lighter than any Submariner. One day, Rolex may release a titanium Submariner, hopefully all matt… not shiny.
I am questioning if everyone saying they have a sub really do. In my opinion their is no watch brand under 10k that is more comfortable to wear then Rolex. Their case shape and wearability of the oyster bracelet is second to none. Don’t get me wrong I like both the Seamaster and submariner, but Seamaster is more bulky and I would say it’s not as refined. Also submariner is a more versatile watch to wear in my opinion. Also I feel 90% of Seamaster owners really want a sub and as soon as they get the opportunity to buy one do, but you rarely see someone who has a sub first think I need a Seamaster now.
I have the no wave black SMPC, the white SMP, and just bought the Green SMP 300m ... I cant stop looking at it, I keep taking pictures of it, almost flirting with it 😂 I love my explorer 1, but I would never buy a submariner
have both and do agree with many that the seamaster is the better of the two, rolex really has the status thing going for it, i do enjoy them all 5 omegas and 3 rolex also love my tutima, sinn and jean richards collectors don't get stuck on one brand just because the status flash, besides omega does have better tech
1000% correct. Say what you want about Rolex, there isn’t a single sports watch out there from any manufacturer that beats the Submariner in overall quality, functionality, reliability, and aesthetics.

@torontowatches9709 All true observations. However, for me the sub lacks the "fun" factor that the SMP has. I've had a sub no-date for about 5 years. Stellar watch. But I stopped wearing it and now I only wear Seamasters and other pieces that I find interesting, like for example the hard to find SKX015 (with original bezel insert and slightly faded vintage vibe).
@@marshalbass7098 Not really- I have the MK 2 KERMIT and its always fun seeing the Green bezel catch different lights. The Hulk is also stunning and fun.
May I ask this: if Submariner’s (which I also have) market value become similar price as Seiko SKX; would your stand still be that strong? I’m not trying to argue or dissuade your current decision; I’m just curious if the popularity value is not in the equation, that’s all… 🤔
For me my love for the sub is not about it value, I have to payed way over retail for my 2007 Sub as I wanted it, I’m also a GS owner! Thanks again for your comment and sharing.
What a dumb question. In what world would a submariner ever be a similar price as a Seiko skx?? Those two watches are literally leagues apart in build quality. They aren’t even comparable. That’s like asking if a Ford Pinto and a Ferrari were the same price, would you still prefer the Ferrari. Absolutely absurd reasoning.
@@whereRbearsTeethHe’s not talking a Sub being the same price as a Seiko, you dickhead. He’s talking about the price reflecting the actual value of the watch, not its RRP. You’re clearly a bit stupid aren’t you? You honestly think that prices of luxury goods have nothing to do with the label that’s on them? Rolex is no exception. Let’s hope that Santa brought you a brain for Christmas this year; you clearly need one.
And she was right…to a certain point. Movt, dial and case back display all are modern and better in the omega. Bracelet on the Sub is superior by far. Marketing on the sub is superior. And resale of Rolex is superior. But if you are to just put the damn watch on and look at it in the year 2024..the omega is better. It’s bold. The Rolex is conservative. I have had the no date, date, even the sea dweller. All great watches but that are all the same watch more or less when looking down at the dial. The old pre ceramic dial seamaster did nothing for me but the new model is beautiful. So for me Rolex for the brain and the omega for the heart lol
I have both, they are different, of course Rolex sub stands out, I would, however, say that Seiko on divers have some good pieces, one I have and is a keeper is Seiko 55th anniversary SBEX009 amazing piece !
@BrendanBoswell I know I know :))))) of course. Even her husband has YT channel. I believe u have mentioned her in past as well, unless it was a different female youtuber that time 😉
I have the white SMP and didnt choose it over the Sub i chose it over the Speedmaster. The Sub is an icon but it looks generic and is the most copied watch design. Also people will constantly ask you if it is real or fake.
Totally disagree, i own both newer models and older models of these watches and id pick the seamaster everytime. Rolex only has one thing over omega - the name rolex.
Ok so explain to me why the submariner is 9k and the omega 5k? Rolex do their own ‘in house’ testing (superlative) whereas omega use metas testing. Rolex are very good but omega have them on the ropes. Sorry but your wrong old bean 🤷🏼♂️
Now it’s about money make up your mind is it quality or value. Sadly Rolex wins on both counts. I own 3 Omega’s so I feel confident that they are good watches but no where near as good as Rolex ☘️
It’s about both but quality is paramount for me. The example of cost is relating to that, no making my mind up needed. Is Rolex almost twice the quality of omega - nope. I also own many omegas and many Rolex’s so I also feel able to judge accurately. If you want the name buy Rolex - if you want a better watch buy omega. I don’t feel like we will agree here so no point in continuing to argue - I’m sure we both have better things to do. Good day 👍🏻
Completely agree and after watching the same video she did, the things she compared are ridiculous. Now while I agree the Sub is a better watch, I do prefer the astectics of the Seamaster more. But that's just my personal preference, but even with that said, the sub crushes!
Great video. I have a Seamaster on the rubber -it’s great (and I forget I’m wearing it). I agree with your comments on this watch on the bracelet. I can’t wait to get the Submariner too… maybe in 2027 I’ll get the call…
Madness out of both watches pick the one you like, not anything else Its what you think 🤔 no one else And as for sports watch in 2023 it's a Gshock in 2023
Right on the money Brendan!! I'm exactly like you, I own both and love both but I enjoy my Omega more.. thanks for saying it like it is.. my POV is that Rolex may be the King but the Omega is the ROCK STAR!!🎸 💪⌚️😃🤘

The watch itself (the Seamaster) is great if a bit thick and with the stupid completely irrelevant helium escape wart. If (and it's a big IF) you've got the wrist for it, and by that I really mean over 8". The bracelet however is truly appalling, Omega (eventually) relented and fixed the Speedmaster, why they persist with the Seamaster one is beyond me. I'm pretty convinced 8/10 of Omega fanbois commenting here don't own a Seamaster.
So I guess based on your decision, my G-SHOCK Square GW-M5610 is a better watch than the Rolex if it’s just about comfort and forgetting the watches there
... all argument about certain brands or watch is very very very subjective. Some people prefer apple watch as their best watch to eat sleep drink and even attending business meeting. Some use Gshock some use seiko some use Cartier. Watch collecting is very personal and subjective to taste like food. The best according to who? For me the best is still gshock or quartz watches. So IMO no need to fight and force someone to have the same tastebud as you.
Rolex got no anti-reflective, lower power reserve, no anti-magnetism, lesser accurate and dated movement... so how is it a better watch than the Omega? The only thing going on for Rolex is hype. Without that hype, it has nothing on the Omega.
The Seamaster is a better watch mechanically, and a slightly higher level of chronometer certification and testing. Having said that…. Seamaster cons: No need for a helium escape valve Bracelet style is outdated No precious metal on the dial Bezel is different to grip underwater Doesn’t retain value like a Rolex Too big for some people Seamaster pros: Takes to rubber strap better than the Submariner The case design is more detailed Less text on the dial You get more for the price No AD waitlist or AD ass kissing needed You can buy one right now at retail You are not looked at as some dickhead More dial options Submariner cons: You can’t get one at an AD Too much text on the dial Awkward lug to case design, limited on strap options. You run the risk of getting robbed for it It’s only COSC certified Few dial color options The price is too much for what it is. Submariner pros: Value retention Precious metal on the dial Best bracelet in the watch industry Best dive bezel functionality.
@@whereRbearsTeeth i have a seamaster chronograph and i love it but , would love to get a sea dweller or a deep sea one day , i do love the sub but i prefer a larger watch . omegas milled clasp and solid end links on the brosnan era seamaster definately gave rolex something to think about which undoubtedly caused rolex to up their game and create the now superb clasp
@@alexhudson3574 I agree, Omega is probably the main reason that Rolex improved their bracelets. In the 90s omega was producing far superior bracelets and clasps for sure. The tables have turned now though. The oyster bracelet with glidelock clasp is hands down the best in the business. The biggest issue that I have with Omega’s dive watches is the bezel action. It’s absolute trash. I just don’t understand why they put zero effort into their bezels. Even my $1900 Doxa 300t has a far superior bezel compared to Omega.

Y'need to get Your head straight, Pally. The World's NUMBER ONE Most Famous Sports Watch, EVER, is The Omega Speedmaster. It IS the World's most Famous Watch! PERIOD! Real Astronauts have worn them & those watches have been to places very few humans have. Where did the Submariner's Cachet originate from? JAMES BOND, who was A FICTIONAL Character. In the IAN FLEMING books, Bond originally wore An Explorer. Ian Fleming also wore An Explorer 1016. The Speedmaster is made by Omega, as are the various iterations of The Seamaster 300. And, you can Buy One! TODAY! All You need to be Holding is The Necessary Folding. No ChickenShit "Waiting-List" Hype. ANY modern Omega Tops any Modern Rolex in ANY Category. Submariner is just A Show Pony! How many of them get wet or go into Space?????
You clearly don’t have much actual hands on experience with both brands. As a matter of fact, based on your absurd comment, I’d venture to say that you don’t actually own any of them. Omega is a great brand, and the speedmaster is an absolute icon, no doubt. Omega has definitely accomplished more, horologically speaking, than Rolex. That being said, Rolex undeniably builds a better watch than omega, period. Pick up a Seamaster 300 and a Rolex submariner 124060. Turn the bezel on both watches. Open and close the clasp on both watches. Put them both on your wrist. There is a clear and obvious difference in build quality and robustness. I have owned multiple watches from both brands over many years, and although I think omega has a more interesting and impressive history as a brand, there simply is no doubt that in modern times, Rolex builds a superior watch.

I have the previous generation seamaster and although I loved it when I first got it 7 years ago I rarely wear it these days and will likely sell it soon. The bracelet looks outdated, the sword hands are not a great choice for a divers watch, likewise the scalloped bezel is difficult to grip at times, the curvy case is too dressy/feminine and although the crystal offers very good clarity it scratches easily due to the double AR coating. I should have got a submariner at the time, it's a more timeless design and looks more masculine. Hopefully with the Rolex market cooling down now, it will be possible.

Pathetic!
Would be great for Omega titanium watches to have titanium calibres incorporating the spirate system in titanium too, for lightness.
YOU ARE FORGETTING THE OVER PRICE OF THE ROLEX, POUND FOR POUND OMEGA WINS THE BATTLE
Rolex is the KING!
Not once did i ever looked at the sea master and go “Damn!! Thats a beautiful watch! I got to have that!”
Sorry I disagree, the Sea Dweller 43 mm for us bigger gents 🤣🤷🏻♂️!
Dance Off!
You’re clueless if you think the omega is superior.
He’s entitled to his opinion!
@@BrendanBoswell yes, he is entitled to his “opinion.” But, that doesn’t mean that he isn’t clueless.
Own both. Love both. SMP is vastly superior technically. Sub is just cool. Would go for the SMP if pushed.
How is it superior technically??
Was eyeing the NTTD Omega, but as I have a small wrist at 5.7inch I couldn’t wear the omega, i can get away with the size of the sub as it doesn’t wear like a 41mm, but logically the BB58 fits me best. The Rolex sub does feels way more comfortable than the omega.
Trying on a gmt master ii at an AD made me fall in love with my SMP even more. The Rolex felt like a toy
aesthetics hands down for rolex sports watch especially all brushed oyster bracelet. but in specs, price, availability & versatile in strap i'll go with omega.
Great video - thanks. What are your thoughts on the Speedmaster 38 v 42? The 42 seems too big for me. Kind regards
I absolutely love my standard speedy, if I remember correctly some of the 38’s are automatic and 15bar so their is that to consider. Appreciate you sharing and watching.
38 isn’t a proper speedmaster. Totally different movement
Couldn't agree more as I have both as well. Only advantages for the 300m are METAS, value for price, and availability.
And the movement. It looks better in my opinion. Both cool watches.
I still return to this video from time to time. It's just too entertaining and based.
I’m in the market for a first luxury swiss made watch would you recommend the omega Seamaster diver 300m? Great content btw! greetings from Sweden

@@desireless4092 it's an alpha male watch. A superhero watch. Not for little boys.
Rolexes are too shiny which I could not wear. I prize discretion.
The sub even gets better when you out it on oysterflex strap…I swapped my bracket out for the summer and I don’t want to take it off granted I have several other Rolexes, Omegas, Cartiers, and Breitlings.
Thanks for sharing. Did you manage to get a Rolex clasp for the rubber Strap?
@@BrendanBoswell used the same clasp from my bracelet the glidelock
Good to Know as I’d still like to get a basic submariner and it on a rubber would be 🔥!
Preference is in the eyes of the beholder…
Well stated. As a owner of a 114060; I agree. Even the NTTD I owned doesn't come close.
Appreciate you for sharing
I have a 14060m sub and Im getting pretty bored with it.
I also own them both and love them both but agree with your assessment 100%
Appreciate your support and comments.
If it’s about status, get the Rolex. If it’s about the watch, get the Omega
have both and do agree with many that the seamaster is the better of the two, rolex really has the status thing going for it, i do enjoy them all 5 omegas and 3 rolex also love my tutima, sinn and jean richards collectors don't get stuck on one brand just because the status flash, besides omega does have better tech

Rubbish 😂😂😂
Good day 👍🏻
I had the Hulk and I’ve had to the sea master omega, it’s a better watch, nicer features and they’ve been around before Rolex was taken care

You can they are all doing it!
Let’s just be honest. Most people pick omega because they can’t get the Rolex.
So I guess based on your decision, my G-SHOCK Square GW-M5610 is a better watch than the Rolex if it’s just about comfort and forgetting the watches there
What have you been watching? Casio better Than Tudor Yes Rolex No
... all argument about certain brands or watch is very very very subjective.
Appreciate your point of view, thanks for sharing.
Agree 100% I own both also - Both are AWESOME but Rolex is still better IMO.
Rolex got no anti-reflective, lower power reserve, no anti-magnetism, lesser accurate and dated movement... so how is it a better watch than the Omega? The only thing going on for Rolex is hype. Without that hype, it has nothing on the Omega.
lower power reserve 😂 Wrong on the accuracy too. Rolex is a better brand, I own 4 Omega’s I should know.
The Seamaster is a better watch mechanically, and a slightly higher level of chronometer certification and testing. Having said that….
Seamaster cons:
No need for a helium escape valve
Bracelet style is outdated
No precious metal on the dial
Bezel is different to grip underwater
Doesn’t retain value like a Rolex
Too big for some people
Seamaster pros:
Takes to rubber strap better than the Submariner
The case design is more detailed
Less text on the dial
You get more for the price
No AD waitlist or AD ass kissing needed
You can buy one right now at retail
You are not looked at as some dickhead
More dial options
Submariner cons:
You can’t get one at an AD
Too much text on the dial
Awkward lug to case design, limited on strap options.
You run the risk of getting robbed for it
It’s only COSC certified
Few dial color options
The price is too much for what it is.
Submariner pros:
Value retention
Precious metal on the dial
Best bracelet in the watch industry
Best dive bezel functionality.
