I honestly think this may be the greatest Red Hot Chili Peppers song of all time. Obviously they have plenty of other insanely good songs, but there's just something special about Scar Tissue. The lyrics, the guitar solos (especially the last one), the meaning behind this song (knowing everything the band went through right before this time). It's beautiful.
"With the birds,I'll share this lonely view" is such a touching line and the way Frusciante make the guitar sing at the end is really touching. One of the best songs ever recorded.
LOVE this song, but the Chili Peppers are SATANISTS! SO I DON'T GO TO THRU SHOWS. THEY DO SEX MAGIC RITUALS AND WERE DOING CHILD SACRIFICING. YES, THEY WERE!!!!
The first line is very clearly written about John. He looks him right in the face while singing but John is driving. He can't see an older friend that cares about him because he's on his way to the next fix. I have been on both sides of this situation. "Sarcastic Mister Know It All"... Yeah, that's 100% addict me. This song was HUGE when it came out and John was back. This is the late 90's for me.
This song reminds me of when I was a child, sitting in the back of my dad’s car as he drove and played this in the CD player. I remember looking out the window, it was a summer evening and the golden light was beginning to filter through the delicate light blue of the sky. So whenever I hear this song, I can always picture it in my head and get that magical nostalgic feeling.

I used to shy away from him, and get embarrassed, especially if I had friends over....but dang those were actually the good times,....and not a day goes by that I don't miss him. Frusciante's closing solo, and the brilliant idea of having the visual accompaniment of a scarred and beaten John playing that decimated guitar at sunset, before tossing it out of his hands to become a piece of the desert, is fucking masterful. I think his best guitar work, at least with the Chilis.
Somiten I would like to get into his 90's solo stuff (I don't really know it at all), but it's one of those things where you're almost intimidated, by not quite knowing how to approach it. Like, I'm not sure what are the good 'gateway' songs to start with before delving into the albums
I didn't really listen to his 90' stuff too, pass me some songs when you hear it. For me, his most creative album is The Empyrean, solos on Unreachable and Central and solo on I could have lied are my favourites. What you love the most?
Somiten Well, as of RIGHT NOW (there's still a lot of stuff of his I want to explore, the '90s stuff I already mentioned, and also this "Empyrean" album you mentioned, I also do not know)...but as of RN, I would say the "Californication" is his peak as far as my taste concerned, with possibly the solo on Scar Tissue (at the very end) a personal favorite. I also just love his actual riffs on a lot of the songs, like "Other Side" is just amazingly creative without 'sticking out' at all in an obvious way. The chords slide around sounding effortlessly sad and lost, a perfect blend with the sudden shock of Anthony Kiedis belting out sweet vocals after years of rapping (Yes, I know they did "Under The Bridge" already, but to be honest I always found that song a little ham-fisted and over the top as far as 'drugs' songs go, whereas "Other Side" is subtle and devastating in its imagery and desperation). And the eventual 'solo' in Other Side...just a handful of notes, spaced out, soaked in echoing distortion...it's just brilliant

Isn't the name "MTV" (nowdays) false advertisement? Because thats just the short for music television.. and that's totaly what it's NOT. Sadly.

Make it to the moon but ill have to crawl. Loven that. Hes so high he can fly there but when he arrives he cant walk on the moon he has to crawl. Pretty witty
Can’t listen this song without crying. As I get older every time makes more sense to me. When this song was released I was 8. I didn’t really understood the meaning. Just liked the song. Now it’s so relatable. This is one of the best songs ever
Red Hot Chili Peppers are the most nostalgic band ever, they'll take you right back to 1999-2003 with the nostalgia hitting so HARD that it almost hurts (and does, sometimes). They also remind me of MTV's early days when jackass and Viva La Bam were new. The vibe of transitioning from 1999 into the early 2000s is encapsulated by songs like Otherside, Scar Tissue, Can't Stop, and Californication.
I think that was a great time. Just before social media and all that! I was 5 y/o then, so I don't remember much, however, your comment gives me that vibe I recall...
Did you notice that with each repetition of the chorus, an additional vocal layer is added? Each time the chorus is sung, a new voice joins in, creating a sense of growth and depth in the music. By the end, it feels like everyone is participating in the chorus.
My parents were both addicts, as a child, the RHCP helped me understand the mind of an addict, and this song helped me see that I’m not the only one lookin down with a birds eye view of the world. So many of their songs helped me through the hardest times of my life. I am planning on getting “I’ll make it to the moon if I have to crawl” tatted on me because growing up the way I did made me strive for a good life, without music like this I’d probably be lost or even dead. Wow. Thank you RHCP 🖤
I remember my teenage days, here in southern Spain, I used to go every day to my favourite pub in the evenings and all night sometimes, it was summer and I enjoyed the air conditioning and the beers and the owner used to play the whole album everyday. I don't remember he did that with another artists. Every song in this album was perfect. When I listen this album, I am 17 years old again and I come back to this summer.
Sounds like beautiful memories! I also hold memories of Southern Spain to this album. I listened to this album on my Walkman a lot the first time I visited my grandparents when they moved to Spain in the early 2000s when I was 14. I remember walking through the mountains near their house, the smell of fig trees, the dry arrid landscape, the beautiful open blue sky. What a beautiful country, and what beautiful music. To date, this is my favourite album, and really opens up that special place inside of me.
With the birds I’ll share this lonely view….my fiancé died 12 days before our marriage. I’m feeling so low, but this song lifted my spirits. Thanks RHCP, I can always count on your music! “Scar tissue that I wish you saw” indeed…
+Polennanny Frusciante its a fuckin legend, he puts his soul on evry solo, just listen this, zephyr song, dani california, californication and others solos, are fuckin priceless.... srry my bad english
Something about the second guitar rift leading into the end of the song marks a significant time in my life… being a kid (9-12yo) hanging out with my uncle and cousins along with my dad. Just vibing at my uncles house in the back yard.. this song along with all the other 90’s soft rock they still play on 99.5 Kiss would be playing from a radio and speaker setup he had in his garage.. that radio would play pretty much 24/7 come to think of it lol. Man, I miss that so much.. I’m just super grateful I can think back on things like that.
I knew this song when my mom, my sis and I painted our bedrooms. She is the head of the family and she worked so hard to have our own house. We decorated our rooms together, helping each other. Then this beautiful song came out. It's a moment that I will remember forever. Just the three of us. ❤
This song is a great example of Frusciante’s ability to capture the wailing sadness of the guitar, and I’m hoping future albums with him now back in the band capture this magic.
This song takes me back to my daughter’s high school days, driving home from Memphis listening to this play… she introduced me to RHCP. I miss you everyday Ashley Lauren RIP 1981-2006 ♥️
This is the only song in human history that helps me through a tough day. I absolutely loved this song when I heard like 23 years ago. I probably heard this song a million times over. Thank you RHCP!!!
Sometimes I like to come back here and think about how my life has changed since the last time I listened to it... Man, I cry sometimes. So many good and bad memories.
Haven't listened to this in a couple of years, but my life has drastically improved since then, used to be super depressed and felt like nothing was going my life.
Me and my grandpa went on a road trip to Arizona playing nothing but Red Hot Chili Peppers, first time I ever heard it. I’ll never forget, great road trip, great song.
When me and my dad were on holidays in California (I’m German btw) in 2013 we drove in a cabriolet on an empty highway while sunset and played this song. I miss those times
Melodia noastra, pt tine, Lau! ❤❤❤ Astept sa ne revedem in viata de dincolo, sa facem iar un milion de nebunii pe ora! Te iubesc si mi-e dor de tine clipa de clipa de clipa! My best friend, my brother!
As someone scarred physically and mentally, who's been a class a addict in the past I love this song. I taught myself guitar in lockdown (i played piano as a kid so I picked it up quickly) this is my favourite song to play. I now go busking in the places I went as a homeless begger and rock it and instead of spending any money I get on drugs I spend it on nice stuff n musical stuff. It made me feel I've come full circle. Thanks tooo chilli peppers their songs have got me through A LOT.❤👌
@@cosimo1319 .✌💙aaw thanks.. means a lot to get confirmation im still doing alright, every little to make me continue on the right path. I've been weight training since new year too and growing stronger mentally and physically but theres always temptation anytime you don't keep yourself isolated and mix with old associates, it's a lonely business been good!!! . (ps I'm a girl!)
There's something about this song that just sticks with my soul. Since the first time I heard it it's been with me. This is one of my favourite songs of all time.
Same. I first heard it leaving my best friends house just before I was about to change schools and no longer be around him or my other buddies much. Those opening notes touched me in a way I can't describe and the melancholy of the song actually helped me bc I realized everyone deals with what I had at hand sooner or later.
Back in 2008 when I was 4 my sister would always play this song around when she was driving or we were on the bus together listening to music on the earphones, this is literary one of the first songs I remember in my life, and it will always remind me of childhood's pure green grass, limitless blue sky and the golden sunshine of summer 2008.
Man.. I'm 30 in a couple of months.. I remember first time i heard this song in elementary school, and i had no clue what he was singing as I'm not a native English speaker, but at the time the melody and all just hypnotized me, and we went on this school trip to the sea, through out 7 days, this song was on repeat and it fitted every single occasion back then.. And when i listen to it now, it fits even more as i finally can understand the meaning behind the melody and lyrics. Time flies by really fast...
mr. Vander Well, the part where he says "with the birds I'll share this lonely view", it means he is high and feeling lonely. It's really sort of about drugs and what he felt as he took them.

Yesterday on my way home I was listening to this masterpiece for the hundreth time and the idea came to my mind. If John's guitar is crying and weeping then Flea's bass is kinda comforting the Guitar if you know what I mean. Maybe it's silly but it made me smile
I love how each instrument is doing something unique. There are no generic bass lines, riffs, or drum parts. Also I love how the background vocals during the chorus change each time, just a great song
Yeah. I’ve never seen a song compare birds to loneliness, when in reality those birds are the only thing in view. It’s even better when Anthony nails the chorus. The guitar solo also feel like a wave, like it doesn’t speed up or slow down, it always gets higher and lower smoothly and seamlessly. That’s why it’s unique, and that’s why it’s always stuck in my head. In conclusion: great song.
Yup it’s been years since I’ve listened to these guys and I’m really impressed. You look at this band and they don’t really look like serious musicians. But these songs are so well crafted, they must have really put a ton of effort into songwriting and had some great producers too.

I didn't really listen to his 90' stuff too, pass me some songs when you hear it. For me, his most creative album is The Empyrean, solos on Unreachable and Central and solo on I could have lied are my favourites. What you love the most?
John kinda looks like Jesus.
The quality is amazing! thx for upgrading to HD!!!
after 10 years John is finally rejoining the chili's

I remember when I was 15, staying up all night just to catch this video on MTV, back when they stilled played music.
Haha, when people still watched television

I used to wake up around 6~7am just to watch all those classic rock songs on MTV, miss that old MTV.
I miss those days!
+Susan Vega Those were the days! Same goes for ZTV. RIP ZTV. Too bad they decided to make MTV it into some kind of Reality trash channel. Now when i think about it.. Isn't the name "MTV" (nowdays) false advertisement? Because thats just the short for music television.. and that's totaly what it's NOT. Sadly.

Fresh out of high school 2000. This song has just gotten even better in time. Timeless.
Californication best describes the transitioning.
What you say is true but know it also applies for every song and every generation that came before you!

Something about the second guitar rift leading into the end of the song marks a significant time in my life… being a kid (9-12yo) hanging out with my uncle and cousins along with my dad.
