If I had to guess, this was originally planned for Stunt courses and the Gladiator course as the default music track, like in Rush 2. A little odd they wouldn't use it, though. It's a pretty good rendition of it.
Yeah it's a really nice version the song, having it cleaned up like this helps hear a lot of the instrumentation. I'll be using it as the theme for obstacle in the mod I'm working on for gamecube 2049.
I spoke to Barry about this version. It may have been a version earlier than rush 2’s, it was just bundled with the 2049 songs. Not sure if this was actually meant for 2049.
Thank you for the big smile on my face! I am a big fan of the Rush series and as Rush 2 is my favourite game even till today, I know the track High Roll ofc. Hearing that Remix now and knowing that it is not fan made is epic! Thank you so much for sharing. :)
You’re welcome! Barry’s masters are awesome and I’m trying to bring the best of them public. This might have actually been the original composition with the n64 one being a post production edit. Every song in N64 that has a different variation actually ends up being that way. I just don’t know the context over this specific song. I have a few more files for Rush 2, Barry doesn’t want beta songs to go public but I’ll see what I can do.
@@Stevie2049 It's awesome that you got your hands on these Rush 2049 Masters and share it public. It would be great if Barry changed his mind and let us listen to the Rush 2 beta songs aswell, IMO this needs to be preserved. Let's hope for the best.
@@Stevie2049 I have noticed some beta footage of Rush 2 that shows some of the soundtrack that isn’t in the final build, which had the same HUD, audio effects, and gameplay proportions as SF Rush. The beta music didn’t even sound like Barry’s work.
This specific arrangement of this song kind of sounds like something you would hear in Pac-Man championship edition. am I not the only one who thinks this would fit very well?
No clue. Barry Doesn't even remember this track or any context surrounding it. All I know is that it was made after Rush 2. Also I'm unsure if it was supposed to loop the way that I made it, in the Rush 2 version it simply stops playing. Since I was working with the midi I was able to keep the last sequence going until it plays the first sequence again.

The synths being in a lower key than the rush 2 version gives it such a mysterious feel in comparison. I also love how clear all the elements are.
After 20+ years of hearing the Rush 2 version, this is absolutely mind blowing.. Both versions kick ass

Sounds like this could have been used for obstacle course.
