Best game ever!! Ellen Page gave Jodie such soul! Absolutely love her and all her work. One of the few actors that really bring raw passion to the roles they choose. Jodie for life!!!
SurvivalHorrorMaster If you need to rely on the conventions to enjoy a game Don't bother. Cage's stuff isn't about slaying bosses and collecting emeralds or gold coins. I like variety, and I thought Beyond was interesting to play.
SurvivalHorrorMaster If you need to rely on the conventions to enjoy a game Don't bother. Cage's stuff isn't about slaying bosses and collecting emeralds or gold coins. I like variety, and I thought Beyond was interesting to play.
Ellen Page has very high potential, she puts so much effort into her work and it'll translate into success. being young and getting to be watching her movies as they are completely new i am happy to enjoy her work. very few voice actors and actresses no longer even try putting effort into story telling and i think that is a shame. I look forward to seeing her blossom into a wonderful voice actress
She sounds just like Jodie and its awesome how they made animations of her in the gane it looks EXACTLY like her she is so beautiful in reallife and thevgane they sound and lookthe same but who played Jodie when she was little?
I've loved Ellen for ages! Ever movie with her in I've loved. Hard candy, Mouth to mouth, an american crime, stone angel, inception, juno, you name it. Now shes going to be (basically) the start of a new ground in gaming? Ellen is the best.
you and I both! She's been one of my favorite actresses for a while even before this game but she nailed the role of Jodie. she did an amazing job! such a talented actress! I hope we get to see her in more movies and games!
Ellen page is just amazing. Especially in beyond two souls. This game needs a sequel and if ellen page isn't in it I just don't think I'll enjoy it as much, she really brings it all together, amazing actress/voice actress! I really hope there will be a sequel to this game, I just don't see how they can't, just one to compete the story! "Sequels kill creativity and innovation" The ending was asking for it, and to make an amazing story and an ending like that with no intention for a sequel is crazy. David cage and ellen page, continue for a second beyond!
The industry needs people like David Cage and Hideo Kojima. You know, people who always push the boundaries of storytelling for this medium. If we continue to have games this bold & daring, the video game industry will become an even more exciting and innovative industry.
Just about everything from ellen page screams talent and perfection. She's truly one of the best actresses of this generation. I'm glad she's part of this ambitious project.
Maybe for you. But Visual Novels are games, Guitar Hero is a game, art games like The Path are games and so is this a game. You can move around freely most of the time like any other adventure game. The only difference is that everything is contextual, which is perfect for this type of game. On top of that you have player choice, different endings and you can freely switch between two characters at almost any point. This is definitely a game for me.
the attention to detail I FIRST NOTICED was when she was transcibing an arabic document. she is writing from right to left as you would in arabic. they could have easily just waved her hand around or w.e BUT THE ATTENTION TOD ETIAL BLASDHABD
I agree. Which also reminds me of old school story driven games like Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment. Not many epic stories like that lately... Ok, Quantic Dream made both Heavy Rain and Fahrenheit so I don't doubt this one.
I know L.A. Noire's studio's Team Bondi was closed down, but the people who made are still around, anyway, if the people who made it and Quantic Dream made a game together it'd be the greatest game ever :) .
Awesome interview by Greg as always. I'm really excited to play a game like this for the first time, especially since one of my favorite female actresses is starring in it . Can't wait for more info. :)
Excellent observation, and I hope that in the same way that lower-budget movies find great actors who aren't hollywood stars, the medium studios will be able to hire good actors in an affordable cost range!
Quantic Dream is definitely pushing the story driven game market in the right direction. Heavy Rain was one of the most original and interesting games to come out in years. No longer are turn based RPGs the means to tell a good story, that style is dated and has become flat in the gaming industry. I'm not saying games like Final Fantasy are bad games, but their day has really passed, Heavy Rain proved that. I can't wait to see more of this style, and more from Quanitc Dream!
Feeling blue? In my experience you never have look too far to find you're the most amazing person on the planet someone else, so cheer up and go find that person :) .
To all the people questioning this I strongly suggest playing heavy rain. It's a very different experience than your average video game but I think that's what makes it so unique.
I really am excited for beyond two souls but i am also worried that the controls will be a little bit too strange. However I didn't mind Heavy Rains quick time event, but the spinning dialogue options really pissed me off
Good Interview. I can't wait for this game. i loved Heavy Rain. Ellen Page is really cute! The ending was good with Greg @ 4:07 telling David that he ripped his IGN podcast name off *Beyond* lol that was good
she's freaking ellen page shes a super awesome actress and she thought the script for beyond is great, we know for a fact it will be even better than heavy rain
The awkward level of that clip was high. Ellen had this sound of fear like she was thinking who is this and why did he corner us back here alone. She kept looking to the other guy and was trying figure if Greg larger size let win an attack.
Actually it is a game. People need to realize that not all forms of gaming are found in mindless FPS, hack and slash or other wildly unrealistic games. Games can be beautiful and an art in the truest sense. Sony realized this a while ago which is why it is home to great, unconventional games. This game is meant for people who are mature enough to realize that.
Think I'll quote yahtzee here. "This isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened. People or properties more commonly associated with famous movies, books, birthday card messages, et cetera, decide to grace the video game industry with their presence and everyone's all like: "Oooh! Show us how it's done, great sensei, because we've honestly been guessing up until now!" It belies not only the endless disrespect video games receive, but also gaming's collective self-esteem problem."
First off, Ellen has never bashed men publicly for no reason (I don't know if she has in her own time obviously). Also, I was never arguing that women do not have the same rights as men, I was simply stating that there is nothing wrong with feminism. On top of that, feminists are NOT people that bash men, those are NOT feminists. Those are hateful people that call themselves that, period. Ellen is a feminist, she believes the men and women should be treated equally across the board. That's it.
No, it's Ashley Johnson. She kinda looks like Ellen in some photos, that's why Ellie in The Last of Us kinda looks similar. But they have nothing in common really.
Quantic dream if you read what david cage says. They are an independent studio that somehow got a triple a budget. So it's not fair to call them a non indie studio. Besides that, every game studio was indie at one time.
Which is why at 20 she played a 16 year old and at 18 played a 14 year old (in Juno and Hard Candy, respectfully) - well, the best things do come in small packages :) .
People saying this is the beginning of a new era of gaming, you do realise that this has been done before right? Quantic Dream themselves have been a part of this previously with the game Heavy Rain. A number of other games are in development currently utilising the same/similar technology, the new Tomb Raider for example. I get that you're an Ellen fan, but to credit her with "the start of a new ground in gaming" is a little silly don't you think?
Yet, I have never referred to myself as one or have been referred to by that term by others. This term clearly has a significant history and how people understand it is heavily shaped by gaming history (avg. gamer in US is 30!). technically, I could be described as a 'casual gamer'. But to many, there a just gamers, and then there are people who merely play games every now and then. I wanted to demonstrate the problem with definitions and what people understand words to mean.
'If you enjoy playing video games, then aren't you a gamer?' I'm german. Here, you call someone a gamer if s/he is deeply entrenched in gaming culture and gaming is a big part of that persons life - I think that understanding is almost the same in the US or the UK. Gaming is not a big part of my life - hence, I am not a 'gamer', I merely play once in a while. Call it casual if you will. Just like everybody is a music-listener or a reader - doesn't mean that you are a bookworm or musicnerd.
Well as far as I have heard, your actions don't kill her, the story just changes. So you can stop worrying about getting her killed and instead get the game and play. She is in the game and you are a fan and you don't wanna play it. Don't make sense man.
Yup, still can't understand how IGN could possibly give this masterpiece a freakin' 6/10. Someone fucked up because this game deserves way more than that.
the problem with reviews is that it is only one persons opinion on the game, i think they should have a group of people that have a joint decision to be more accurate. I've played this game and in no way does it deserve what IGN gave it.
The actual definition of a gamer is not "He/she who is deeply entrenched in gaming culture and gaming is a big part of that persons life" rather it is "A person who plays a game or games." You should just be accepting the fact that there are multiple types of gamers. There are gamers that play games once in a while (casual gamers), there are gamers who play every day (hardcore gamers) etc etc. These are both examples of GAMERS. THEY PLAY GAMES. Why can't you accept that? So silly
And of course, you dont always want an actor or an actress portraying the main characters of a game. I mean, If they'd want to do a movie of the Metal Gear saga im totally for it, Ive been asking myself a lot which actors they may cast, but I dont wanna see kevin costner's or Gerard Butler's face in my MGS game. Neither I want the face of nicolas cage as the main GTA char. Still, I think the Idea of using actors can be great depending on who they use and what for! ;)
Ellen Page is just amazing!! Glad she is now on board in the gaming universe!!
and it turned out to be the only time she did get on board
Best game ever!! Ellen Page gave Jodie such soul! Absolutely love her and all her work. One of the few actors that really bring raw passion to the roles they choose. Jodie for life!!!
SurvivalHorrorMaster If you need to rely on the conventions to enjoy a game Don't bother. Cage's stuff isn't about slaying bosses and collecting emeralds or gold coins. I like variety, and I thought Beyond was interesting to play.

I think it was Aidan, that gave Jodie much soul aha
Ellen Page has very high potential, she puts so much effort into her work and it'll translate into success. being young and getting to be watching her movies as they are completely new i am happy to enjoy her work. very few voice actors and actresses no longer even try putting effort into story telling and i think that is a shame. Ellen page is shorter than I expected woah
5'1 isn't that short though
1.55
I think it's funny that they shot this in the parking garage
She sounds just like Jodie and its awesome how they made animations of her in the gane it looks EXACTLY like her she is so beautiful in reallife and thevgane they sound and lookthe same but who played Jodie when she was little?

they did?! wow. this was one of my favorite games I have ever played. first Heavy Rain and now Beyond?! David Cage knows how to make masterpieces!
are they doing an interview in the parking lot ?
This is so sad, she was so cute.
you and I both! She's been one of my favorite actresses for a while even before this game but she nailed the role of Jodie. she did an amazing job! such a talented actress! I hope we get to see her in more movies and games!
this game is phenomenal.. 10 out of 10
its even better than heavy rain and heavy rain was incredible
one of my top favorite games OF ALL TIME
Ellen page is just amazing. Especially in beyond two souls. Greg is a great interviewer, i love how he vot them to say beyond. He has a charm that grows on you.
God i waited for this interview for so long.
The industry needs people like David Cage and Hideo Kojima. You know, people who always push the boundaries of storytelling for this medium. If we continue to have games this bold & daring, the video game industry will become an even more exciting and innovative industry.

That was maybe the best interview I saw with ellen. Good questions and very straight forward. Thanks for doing this.
Greg Miller 6'3.
Ellen Page 5'1.
I'm so happy for Ellen, that she get's to work in these awesome projects. :))
it's a positive step in the cinema/gaming industry, video games like this are baiscly interactive movies.
She always seems so nice and genuine in interviews.
I reserved my copy. I've been waiting for Beyond: Two Souls since its announcement.
Awesome interview by Greg as always. I'm really excited to play a game like this for the first time, especially since one of my favorite female actresses is starring in it . Can't wait for more info. :)
mate, it is. you actually control the character walking around and stuff. there's exploring and maybe a bit of platforming.
Awesome interview, Greg!
Oh, I am so proud to be a Canadian, or better yet, a Scotian.
I actually seen her when she was in high school.
Excellent observation, and I hope that in the same way that lower-budget movies find great actors who aren't hollywood stars, the medium studios will be able to hire good actors in an affordable cost range!
Beyond sounds like a very interesting game. Im looking forward to it for Ellen's performance and the story.
Heavy rain was one of my fav games on the ps3 and i loved it, Lets see you write a better script?
Quantic Dream is definitely pushing the story driven game market in the right direction. Heavy Rain was one of the most original and interesting games to come out in years. Great interview! Thanks for sharing. Great questions, and fun way of talking serious about this game. Really looking forward to this game.
Anyone else get really depressed when you finally realized the story was over? :(
Never seen such beauty in a video game
deepest, most in depth, and emotional storyline Iv'e seen in forever,
To all the people questioning this I strongly suggest playing heavy rain. It's a very different experience than your average video game but I think that's what makes it so unique.
I really am excited for beyond two souls but i am also worried that the controls will be a little bit too strange. However I didn't mind Heavy Rains quick time event, but the spinning dialogue options really pissed me off
Why do people say that it's like a movie? You need to understand that this is a lot more than that. A game is not about pointing and shooting only
and Beyond: two souls is the best game ever!!!
Good Interview. I can't wait for this game. i loved Heavy Rain. Ellen Page is really cute! The ending was good with Greg @ 4:07 telling David that he ripped his IGN podcast name off *Beyond* lol that was good

Ellen and David both have "age" in their surnames! xD
Inteview guy: "Are you like that or not?"
Ellen: "I mean may- I don't know.."
I melt
I'm so looking forward to this game. I hope it gets high ratings and sells well.
Think I'll quote yahtzee here.

Because she from Halifax Nova Scotia like me and, we are very wise people!
I wouldn't blame him being honest.
I agree great game amazing makes you feel a lot of emotions
No, it's Ashley Johnson. She kinda looks like Ellen in some photos, that's why Ellie in The Last of Us kinda looks similar. But they have nothing in common really.
I don't remember where I heard it originally, but you can just google it.....
Hot damn 5 months ago I used the accursed XD face. How I've grown since then...
Jesus, she is so pretty.
Really looking forward for the game and I loved Heavy Rain
Her voice is pretty it's so soothing for some reason wish I had her voice :D!!!!!!!
she seemed so nervous like she was on the verge of tears o_o

Very good actor and played Jodie perfectly
Heavy rain= one of my best gaming experiences ever, this will be even bettet

Just like everybody is a music-listener or a reader - doesn't mean that you are a bookworm or musicnerd.
BTW, cinematics, music, war, sports, adventure, all of this are part or can be part of a game.
Bless This Post.
'So you have to scream "BEYOND" really fast before you leave" ... um... is this like next-gen awkward torture for actors and designers?
Well as far as I have heard, your actions don't kill her, the story just changes. So you can stop worrying about getting her killed and instead get the game and play. She is in the game and you are a fan and you don't wanna play it. Don't make sense man.
Is it out now? I totally forgot, so excited.
She always does. She just talks like that. She's like Jesse Eisenberg in the sense that they ALWAYS talk fast. It's just how they are.
Yup, still can't understand how IGN could possibly give this masterpiece a freakin' 6/10. Someone fucked up because this game deserves way more than that.

I know Ellen Page for the first time from this "Beyond: Two Souls" game. The game's so awesome, and so is she! :D
oh crap, on my magazine i saw her but did not know they model her after ellen page
I wonder how many time she gave this speech, answering the basic interview questions.
Lol.. god damn that beyond scream at the end was funny as hell!!
Ellen Page taking over consol gaming, with beyond and her likness in the last of us, and you won't see me complaining. She'd adorable.
Ellen page would have been awesome on Heavy rain but her performance on beyond: two souls will do
@xkrazyxboix101 Its because of the podcast, not the game..... Listen to it and you will understand
The actual definition of a gamer is not "He/she who is deeply entrenched in gaming culture and gaming is a big part of that persons life" rather it is "A person who plays a game or games."

Props for having an actual legitimate opinion on youtube without sounding like an illiterate 12 year old.
Everybody thought that she would be in The last of us but shes in an even better game
Yeah...a story driven game. It's so rare nowadays.
If this is gonna be better then heavy rain then it will be the best game for the PS3 when it comes out can't wait :)
she's a incredible actress
I love her voice, it seems like she's nervous all the time, dont know why, just love that awkward nervous sound :L
her hands
Somebody has given your wrong info. Ubisoft said 2013. :-)
Ellen page i love her risky leap in to the gaming scene pretty daring you go girl.
And of course, you dont always want an actor or an actress portraying the main characters of a game. QUANTICDREAM is the best!!! salute to them
who played this game? and what did you choose in the ending episode.. beyond or life? i chose Life"
You do know there is more than one ending
i chose life and living with her boyfriend
there's like 27 endings possible
I bet that Greg was wielding two microphones during this interview. He must of had a little trouble keeping the cork in the bottle.
