    I most often use blender but teach 3dsmax at the uni and I have to say out of the box vray is hard to beat, especially with interior scenes. However cycles is also CPU and GPU capable with no difference in the render result between the two, in fact you can render using both CPU and GPU at the same time. Vray in blender would be a dream,

    I have been using vray since vray 1.0.4 to date and found this engine always better than all alternative out there but recently I started using Octane and I was blown away by the speed and quality. Despite all the cons of GPU specific engines I found Octane better than vray interms of speed and quality it's more artist friendly and targeted for quick look dev.

    • @frankherman9434
      @frankherman9434 2 года назад

      Yes, both vray an arnold are better, but they are slower.well, I would rather choose speed vs quality... red,octane and even corona are much faster.II think that the quality argument is overrated.I mean it isnt night and day diffrence.

      I prefer corona over vray
      But
      Sometime vray had advantages against corona
      So I compare both with render engine
      With interior and exterior
      Models were ready so I had to just texture them from start and render
      Interior (cpu render i7 10th gen 8core)
      Vray worktime 1H 20m
      Render time 43.14 minutes
      Corona 8 interior
      Corona worktime 56 minutes
      Render time 31.08 minutes
      Exterior
      Vray 5
      Work time 45 minutes at both render engine
      But render time
      Vray 5 - 34.05 minutes
      Corona 8 - 52.01 minuts

    Arnold crashed on GPU with my assets.
    Vray boots up much faster and does not crash. Also did not experience slowdowns yet like I did with Arnold.
    Interior scenes with Arnold........................................ still waiting to finish, Vray really fast. I turned around and boom done.
    Vray used to be a pain compared to Arnold but that is not the case anymore. It is just as easy to use as Arnold. I think.

      @Illia Havrylov same developer (or rather owner of both) so maybe it won't take that long. Although, the user database might demand it first before they implement ACES. And since Corona is used mostly in archviz, I don't see big profits of ACES there. Just my opinion ofc.

    • @kimmysander2447
      @kimmysander2447 Год назад

      Corona still doesn't support ACES and lacks render elements for more complex compositing. So while it is easy to get into and it's at least for now great for archviz, Vray Arnold and Unreal all use ACES by default and have more flexibility in post for complicated live action and post processing in gamma 1.0.
      If you are just doing archviz for low end then it won't make a difference, bit for high end and vfx it falls a bit flat, and I can always spot Corona for having that limited dynamic range when looking at interior visualizations with exteriors because of it.

    • @reaktorleak89

      Arnold has the highest quality materials and shaders. It's slower because of this very reason (though definitely not slow, especially on GPU). We've compared it against V-ray and Redshift and Octane. It still comes out on top for usability and quality. And getting materials auto-assigned using Operators expressions (perfect for Houdini workflow) saves us many hours per week.

      i don’t agree with guys who say render engines don’t matter and they are all the same, for example i can’t find a render comes out from blender cycles that looks so photorealistic, especially with materials that contain subsurface scattering , translucent .. etc. like human skin it looks more plasticy and not realistic, on the other hand i see incredible renders come out from arnold and vray in the artstation for example.

    • @baldoski

      @@vitocorleone5080 I don't agree either. For my taste atm Renderman and Arnold produce very let's say photorealistic images. I can't say that about Redshift or Octane though.
