I appreciate this video! I’ve lost quite a bit of weight since I bought my personal horse, but it seems I was surely riding him at an inappropriate weight. Just more encouragement to live a healthy life to continue riding my boy safely & pain free! Thank you! ❤️
Hi Anne, great question! Assuming your weight with yourself + saddle is within the acceptable range then the biggest issue would be finding a saddle that will fit you both. Your saddle size is determined by the length of your thigh, therefore if you need to accommodate a long leg - this often requires a saddle that is too big for the horse. This will put pressure and weight on the unsupported vertebrae of the back. Hope that helps :)

Hi Shawna, I too have lost weight recently - congratulations I know it is harder than it seems. I agree it is an important subject to address :)
Hi. I was wondering if horses have a hight limit they should be carrying? I am 5’9 and my horse is 14.2 hands. Am I too tall for my horse?
