there has only been one job i worked where i gave a 2 week notice. and thats because i respected the heck out of my muslim boss named zahid. he gave me so many second chances when i was young and lost in life. eveytime i moved back home i would walk up to 711 and zahid would greet me with a warm welcome saying "Thomas how are you sir? do you need to work? you can start tomorrow" infact i was one of only 2 people who werent muslim and they all treated me like family. God bless you zahid. he got brain cancer and moved to germany to be around his family in 2018 and i dont know how he's doing
Wait until your last paycheck has come in, either you take holidays or medical leave, etc. But, do as they do. After your last payment wait until “bad news Friday” the same week at around 16:45 to 18:30 (this depends on your job but the last hour they’ll be working before a weekend) to drop the “I quit” e-mail. They’d do the same to you.
I ghosted at one job at lunch, and another I told them I quit before walking out. It's very satisfying. Like that song Take this job and Shove it. When I quit, my boss asked me what are we going to do with your customers. I said that's your problem. Lol. Just dont expect to ever use those jobs for a reference. I've been at my current job 15 years. Four day workweek, work from home, pension, health insurance, 3 weeks paid vacation, 13 holidays and paid sick leave. Best job I've ever had. I'll stay at this one until I retire.
man i quit a job where 2 other people called out and i needed to man the floor by myself on a busy weekend. i locked the front door and walked out the back never to return. they treated me like cattle so thats what you get. at least i locked the front for them
Loyalty to a company that is not yours is foolish. Knew someone who worked a good job for 10 years, and told me they gave him the boot out of the blue one day. They dont deserve your 2 weeks notice!
I have employers going on a power trip when good employees (awesome coworkers that I worked with) decided to leave. The boss would treat them bad for those next two weeks, hold their paycheck from them. makes me realized if it was me, they would do the same thing.
my union is talking about strike, we earned a vacation they was talkin a lot of sugar when it was 'muh essential clover heroes'. now when it's time to raise pay it's "oh yeah, about that, kick rocks 🙂"
My showbiz union shafted us. They tried to get us to sign contracts that were the equivalent of trading our health insurance for a pinball machine in the lounge. Our rep sold us out.
If you’re going to use them as a reference I would give in a two week notice. When I quit at this dept store few years back I only told the store manager and nobody else. On my last day I said goodbye to maybe three people who were completely caught off guard and sad.
I gave my old job twos weeks at my old job because my manager was really nice, understanding and treated very nicely. After working at an Amazon warehouse being completely taken advantage of and worked to death.
If the employer has been good to you I believe it's common courtesy to give a notice but I understand that common courtesy doesn't really exist in today's world because it's such a dog eat dog world now unfortunately
I love to run out the clock on any paid vacation/sick days before quitting without notice. It’s not like companies typically give you advance notice that they’re going to fire you.
I'm in a good job situation so, I can't say much on this and, in my case, I would give two-weeks notice. But, in general, I'd give two weeks notice when an employer gives ME two-weeks notice of letting me go. There ought to be a reciprocity law where an employer can remove me on the spot but, I should be guaranteed that last two weeks of pay and benefits, whether I'm there or not. That two weeks severance can be paid out of unused vacation and sick leave if it's still owed to the employee.
Where I live, we have the notice time specified in the employment contract. 1-3 months are relatively normal notice periods. Just being able to leave on the spot sounds amazing.
Have you guys not had employers call the companies on your resume for references? Every job I’ve had called my past employers during the background check phase of the hiring process. Maybe just retail and restaurants don’t care who the hire?
Yeah I’m looking at some of the comments here and it’s no wonder these guys can’t get a job or keep a job. If you don’t listen references they look at the years of unemployment as you just being a bum or lying about your work history.
@@omgjimmyboy Yea most of these guys do menial work - no offense, it's just a true statement. In a real professional environment doing something like quitting out of nowhere will have hard consequences.
Yeah I learned this the hardway. Ended up putting in my two weeks notice a week before vacation. Asked where my last pay check was and they told me it was being with held because of something I messed up before hand. I didn't get my vacation time, or my paycheck at all. I had just worked a year at that place only to get fucked by them like that. What's even more fucked up is they're asking me to pay for it by using my whole check. I can't wait to get my tax documents because they don't mail shit.
Thank you for this interesting topic Sent My Own Way! As I am looking right now to change job. Been at my company for 4 years now and I was exactly wondering if I had to give a 2 weeks notice. Now that I have watch this video, I might only give 2 to 4 days maximum and move on with the next job. As you said, there is nothing wrong in taking a break of few days between the 2 jobs. As I don't have to be loyal to a company who never really respect me in the end. No raise in 4 years, lying about giving me a better position in the company and also no recognition!!! So why I should be loyal?!! There is no reason for that. Anyway. Great and interesting video.
Thank you for watching as always, Simon’s! It seems these days we are forced to switch jobs just to be able to get a raise. This system is so terribly broken.
The OG inventor of the Oofy Doofy Theory was Alex of the venerable Hell By The Dashboard Light channel. He had some solid evidence to support it and I also see it in practice but, with this difference: Low-tier Beckys, Karens, and No-name Dames do settle for males in their SMV window. They can't do any better. The empowered modern famele who is high-tier Becky and above will monkey branch from one Chad to another because she can.
They don't have 2 week notices and all that kind of stuff in Africa or South Asia. I think you'd fit in better there, you seem to have that kind of personality plus you always say you want to go travel.
If your job is not menial work that is easily replaceable, then give your two weeks notice. Otherwise if you don't give your two weeks notice, then you get no references and you're the loser not the company.

These companies don’t care about ppl 💯simple as that 🗣️

Great strategy
Well played.
They'll fire you on a blink of an eye. It's a two way street, never give them a notice.
I've never once given two weeks notice, once I decide that I'm leaving, I'm leaving simple as that.
I just no longer give a shi

Gave two week notice after 4 years of work.....was released the same day
I wait for them to fire me. Collect money until the end. :/
When you give 2 weeks notice, theyll often fire you on the spot, and termination is harder to explain to the next employer.
The next employer doesn’t care 99% of the time in my experience
Even better, if they fire you, you can apply for unemployment benefits.

Typical Union politics
My union got us a 28% raise
@@infowarzzThis isn't the 1960's or prior. Not all unions have their workers' backs. And it's even worse in Right To Beg states.

Some employers will let you go as soon as you give 2 weeks notice
I do love when new hires ghost managers and human resource especially when the standards are too high.
Hilarious to be around when a new hire disappears mid-shift, especially if it’s their first day on the job
It’s even funnier when we all pull a “blue flu” and not show up and mass quit just before the most busiest days.
Gave 3 weeks notice last time and the entire staff toasted me with a beer and wished me well.
Nice 👌
Blue collar job?

Why in the world would you have to give two weeks? Yeah that doesn’t make any sense. One day is fine.
What I hated about working at a clothing store.

Nobody has anything good to say about working at Amazon lol
@@SentMyOwnWay Don't buy anything from them. I don't.
Ive heard a lot of negativity about Amazon. In fact they've had many lay offs in the past year.

I’d give 2 weeks notice to a mom and pop type of company if they treat their employees like human beings. To a corporation.. nah

Low tier and minimum wage jobs will not take the time to call references. They will hire anyone because they are always shortstaffed.
