    Lived in Karamea for a couple of years and the Karamea river has some insanely good trout fishing from September to November. Just a short drive up river from town. Almost 100% success-rate with multiple trips per week. Mostly sea-run and some large brown trout. Average 3-4lbs,with some over 5lbs, and usually 1-3 fish for every 1.5 to 2h. fishing mostly home-made lures from spoons and forks 😅

      That's awesome. Next time I'll have to try a bit of trout fishing. We drove up the river and had a look. It's amazing!

      cheers Peter, yeah you get nice sea run trout during the white baiting season. They are great eating. But we were a little bit too late for that this time.

    Hey Mark. Myt partner and I used to live in Marlborough. Have you ever stayed at the Leatham River past Lake argyle. Great camping spots along there.

      We only stayed at the Lake Argyle camp but not further up the Leatham. I heard it's quite nice up there.
      But not sure if you can get there with a caravan.

    Hey mark me and my wife went to the campsite for a visit and had lunch by the big pines was the fastest Samwich and coffee ever the bloody sandflies were bad back and stayed at the hotel for night that was nice ,then back to hector to visit her aunty but such a great place to see , cheers , shaneno, nelson, 😊

      @Fishingreminder  17 дней назад +1

      Haha, one of the craziest places for sandflies. Only possible to stay there with insect screens all around. We camped there before when we still had our bus. It didn't have insect screens and we could only hold out for one night 😳

    Nice video mark. Have you been living in a bus and caravan there for ten ten years in nz that can be a big challenge with the weather also a lot of fun as well. There’s so many places to go fishing you won’t go hungry. We have a camper van there at my sons place. My wife is from the Philippines she has been there a few times but hates the winter there I’m working on getting her there so we can do what your doing for a year but don’t like my chances. With the new laws on the campers now I’ll have to spend a bit to get the van up to date it’s just a money grap. Have fun guys lucky buggers

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  16 дней назад

      Thanks Lou. Yeah you're quite right about the winter. We usually don't stay in the caravan during that time. We either house-sit or go visit our family overseas. It's not so much the weather, as you can get stunning days in winter, but it's the short days that get me. Easy to get cabin fever and also not much solar power.

      Cheers, I've been using OFF but I'll give it a try. The locals told me that they use Dettol Handwash mixed with baby oil and that apparently works great.

    Hello Mark, im new to stickbaiting and want to catch my first kingy. Do you know a place where i could get a kingy in auckland? Please ❤

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  17 дней назад +2

      Hi, you'd probably need a boat around Auckland and find some surface activity. There aren't any good land-based spots for stickbaiting that I know of. Kingies do come into the harbour though. But you gotta be lucky to be there at the right moment and they gotta be in the mood for chasing something on the surface.

    I have been following you for quite some time and subscribed. The disappointment for me was the arrogance of you and your wife on the way you parked in the Warehouse carpark in Greymouth totally blew me away. I would well imagine that Hiyesian told you that you can't park like that...but your arrogance over ruled her I'm sure ! Especially when you quite often talk about respecting other travelers when parking. Absolute joke! You say you have respect for others......I beg to differ. For that reason....you have lost my subscription. I too live in my motorhome and am an NZMCA member. Many other people in that carpark were extremely disappointed and I had to hear about it from them. Clearly , you think that just saying sorry gives you the right to do whatever you want.

    • @Fishingreminder

      Thank you for your feedback. You're right that parking across multiple spaces wasn't ideal. While we needed to pick up a parcel quickly, we should have found a better parking solution. We genuinely apologize for any inconvenience caused to other shoppers. We strive to be considerate travelers and will ensure to plan better for such situations in the future.

      @@Fishingreminder Thank you very much for your reply. I strive to supply as many parks as I can as that area is not only a public car park, but also a forklift zone. It is a daily battle for me to be able to use my forklift to carry out my daily job and keep public members safe. Perhaps if you were to add a small video on how to park properly in a car park...It would help get the word out there on what to do ? I always enjoyed watching your videos. Not a fan of unsubscribing on such great content. Just a simple mention would be great!

      @@suzyniles9397 Thank you for this thoughtful follow-up! We had no idea about the forklift operations there - that's really valuable information. A video about proper parking etiquette for larger vehicles is actually a great suggestion. We'll definitely consider incorporating that into our future content. Thank you for being open to our apology, and we appreciate you helping us learn and improve. Happy to have you still part of our community!
