  • French Pass on the Top of the South Island in New Zealand is one of the wildest camping and fishing spots in the world. Big strong currents and deep water attract top predators, such as big kingfish to this area.
    There is a Top Camping area with a boat launch and we took our Jayco Journey Outback caravan over the crazy steep and narrow road to get there.
    This road is not for the faint of heart and even our Ford Ranger started to moan and groan a bit at the prospect of towing a heavy Australian Caravan to this stunning location. But we made it and the mission was to catch a kingfish in this remote part of the Marlborough Sounds.
    How did we do it? Watch and find out!

    Nice video again, thanks Mark. I enjoy the longer videos where I can sit with my glass of wine and enjoy. Nice balance of drone photography - not too much, not too little. Great part of the country for filming. Absolutely amazing effort to get that fish on-board and nice to see the sharing of the catch - nothing wasted once the decision was made to keep the fish. Looking forward to the next one.

    Great video, beautiful views, good content 👌
    Ford ranger is very disappointing to see so many people having issues with towing and weird noises. we bought a Ssangyong Rexton absolutely brilliant for towing with no issues with anything last 2 yrs
    Thanks for sharing your amazing adventures 😀

      cheers mate, appreciate the nice comment. Luckily the suspected engine noise turned out to be only a loose heat shield and the battery was already 5 years old and dying. Should have replaced it before the trip but was too busy, haha. The Ssangyong is a Korean car, eh? They produce pretty good quality stuff.

    Fantastic effort with the Kingfish its not easy to do that on your own and film it !. Good information on the road conditions we have only been as far as Okiwi bay . French Pass and Elaine Bay are both on our list. Thanks for the video . Its the Mollymawks ( Bullers Albatross) that try and steal your Blue Cod where we fish.

    that current was ripping out! those shags r real pests making it hard to release small fish. great to see the trolling lure giving u a good size king.

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  10 дней назад

      cheers Peter, yeah that is the best trolling lure I have used so far and next time I'll definitely take a slingshot to scare away the shags, haha. It's almost impossible to release fish otherwise.

    Couple things that might be helpful mate always cut away from your self when you are cutting a fish trust me I had ten years processing fish, and use wire traces then crappie couta can't steal your costly tackle 😊

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  10 дней назад

      haha yeah some good tips. I cut myself way too often, never seem to learn, haha. The only thing with wire traces is that they're a little bit stiff and affect the lure action in a negative way. But better than loosing all the lures. Have you tried kevlar instead of wire yet?

    • @muza1404
      @muza1404 10 дней назад

      Yeah even used electric fence wire it works really well, do a lot of surf casting back home on the westcoast and it's pretty rugged conditions ,liked your video on drone just in the process of getting one to give it a crack.

      @@muza1404 nice mate, a drone makes a big difference for land-based. You mean the Ruko or the new Aeroo Pro Drone?

    check out glow bites how to rig the flounder soft bait.good vid enjoyed it

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  10 дней назад +1

      cheers mate, thanks for the tip. Yeah I watched the Glowbite video on it. But the lure will still slide off when you cast it a few times. If you just drop it over the side of the boat then it will stay in place. But it's the same with any softbait/wormhook combination. It's possible to use a small piece of paperclip around the hook eye and make a little barb to fix the flounder in place. That usually works great for me and then it won't come off even when casting.
