    Audio issue update! If you're having issues with the audio please try this version of the video instead ruclips.net/video/ZgD-qsrx2ow/видео.html

    I'm so sorry about the audio issue! I'm rendering a new video based off of a 1080p download from youtube because my laptop died and I have lost the original file. The new version should be ready in about 2 hours. The new version fixes the audio issue I've been able to replicate but I don't know if there are other issues lurking 😬

      I must say I didn't notice, but there again I always watch your videos when I'm eating my supper. Over the years it has become a bit of a ritual.

      The audio level was low and thin, so I had to turn it way up, however, when the ads hit it was pretty jarring.

      Some are builders and others sailors

    • @chuckscheaffer3952
      @chuckscheaffer3952 8 месяцев назад +4

      Agree. I love the details and the craftsmanship but it really delays ever going sailing. I know from experience taking four years refitting my own 36 footer. Now I got her back in the water and relearning how to sail again. Sailing is a seperate skill and an art to be apprciated, especially trying to eke power from very light wind. It's challenging I rather be a better sailor, able to get the most from any sailboat, than become a furniture carpenter. At the same time, I totally respect these builders.

      Yes, me too. I´m working now 2 years on our 30ft pocketcatamaran and hope to get it next year into the water to proceed to greece.@@chuckscheaffer3952

Even if steel boats aren't your cup of tea you should come anyway, the island of Ærø has a LOT of maritime history and is beautiful at any time of the year 🙂

    I know you've posted a separate comment regarding the variable audio on some recent videos. To me it sounds like some audio is being recorded/transcoded as 'spatial' - I use a Bose Soundlink Mini as the external speaker for my Mac Studio and the soundstage changes, extremely noticeably, from normal to super-wide/spatial a few times.

    I hope this video dosen't have the audio issue that have been plaguing us the last couple of weeks! Unfortunatly my MacBook with the raw footage died (liquid damage 😭). I only have the file I had already exported to RUclips meaning I can't really do much to fix any issue. The good news is in next week's video I'll be back in Trinidad and will be able to dive into the audio issue.

    • @duralex1436

      I can't hear anything, I try to help with trouble shooting, the issues seem due to the new microphone system you are using, in the old video the issues were only in the video with Eva, i think it's mixing the audio channels in some strange way, maybe is trying to mix them as dolby in 5 channel... i do not know exactly, but the problems starts at 1:09

    • @svbarryduckworth628
      @svbarryduckworth628 8 месяцев назад

      Last week on Eva's audio our right channel cut out entirely for most of it if I remember right. That's the speaker right over "my" settee so I really notice it.

    As someone who has always been about "attention to detail", this is an amazing piece of work. Him being an engineer explains a lot of it. I guess my only concern is that much detail requires LOTS of hours to accomplish. How many more years is this going to take approximately? Thanks for sharing... amazing & I have great appreciation for the dedication & skill set of Tim. I could see your head spinning with ideas & inspiration to begin another project! Moving forward... LET'S GO!

    • @PitWChannel
      @PitWChannel 8 месяцев назад

      Well said! I guess this is a question of goals - if the goal is building this boat in the highest possible standard, maybe it doesn't matter how long it takes. If the goal was to be on the ocean as soon as possible, it would be a different story...

    • @AustinBoil
      @AustinBoil 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@PitWChannel I have friend like this who are detail fanatics. They have done projects that have taken forever to complete & as soon as they were done they got bored & started another one. They just like having a project as it gives them something to talk about & always have something to do. The end product is almost a let down.

  • @RonaldJHElzenga
    @RonaldJHElzenga 8 месяцев назад

    That for sure is a nice interesting project Mads and Ava..but for sure it took a lot of time to come so far and for sure a lot more time to finish the boat in the end. When you want start a family I can imagine you want a somewhat bigger boat than Athena..but when only for DIY satifaction I would just keep Athena as your home and buy another smaller/same size DIY project boat for the DIY satisfaction..and sell the boat after finishing to one of your cruising-want Patreons..after starting another project. With new techniques, new elements, new design handy things based on your own and other cruisers experience. Otherwise where does it end? a 120 feet saling cutter aka super yacht😅 You know 38ft has so many benefits too..

  • @d.j.vanderschoot3717
    @d.j.vanderschoot3717 8 месяцев назад +1

    Super cool project. The quality of the engineering is nerdy perfect and a joy to behold. Nothing to demo only rebuild. Would love to see you finish such a prestigious and inspiring boat. As a sailboat this thing will be going like the clappers while still roomy enough to be super comfy.
    If you plan on marina dwelling then the length will be an expense, but staying out and about that doesn't really matter. Basically the same issue as with a catamaran, but then I'd rather have something really elegant like this.
    (Getting tired of all the youtube catamaran builds actually, all that work and at the end you have ...a catamaran, just like everybody else.)

    Great tour of a Deerfoot. We used to cross paths with Stanley Dashew on his 72’ Deerfoot II while sailing Lasers in Marina del Rey years ago. He was in his 90s but sailed all the time. Beowulf was also based here in MdR and I’d always admired how purposeful it looked. Tim is doing a great job on his personal version of a Deerfoot. Maine is full of hidden treasures like that.
