Honestly... I typically CANNOT stand when men talk about feminism, however, listening to this video completely changed my views. It was so well informed and portrayed, I didn't feel at any point attacked or belittled (as i usually do when other brothers deliver the video in an (arguably) angered way). May Allah reward all three of you abundantly 😊
as you're a muslim, your deen comes before feminism, so whats the issue that you have when men talk about feminism? how does it effect? islam already gives you an answer for how a woman should be treated and respected
@Rodmil Rodriguez what Wasey meant that Mohamed Hijab didn't want to look at the sister, thats why he was barely looking at the screen, he was controlling his gaze
People reacting how the man in brown looks down and lowers his gaze. I remember a funny experience before I took my shahada years ago, I went to a mosque to ask for a teacher/imam to answer some questions I had and at the time, I was covering but not correctly yet. I wear a rectangle scarf and a tight maxi dress with a lose robe on top. I went in the mosque and a man was there cleaning the place and so I went to ask him where the lady's section is and without looking at me (his eyes glued to the floor) he pointed me to a curtain covered area and told me to remove my shoes before walking in and being a dumdum I was, I found it rude that he didn't even look at my eyes but later I realized I should have been thankful as the brother is respecting me. 😂😂😭😭
In Portland Oregon women were attacked for wearing a hagib. I was angry that not only was this a hate crime done to these women but this crime made the young girls afraid to wear one. I was angry that these young ladies felt they were forced by our society to deny who they were to satisfy them. I veil at Mass. I feel like freedom of religion should be for all of us. I feel that the Muslims in my community respect me so I respect them in our community.
let's be very clear. I am an American revert of 6 years alhumdulillah. I made a comment of this video yall are watching. I found it so incredibly "opininated" and holds NO ground in Islam whatsoever. I was so disapointed with the comment section. Muslim sisters saying "thank you for teaching me this, yada yada.." Non Muslims saying "whow how articulate, thanks for teaching us." AstugfirAllah she is spreading these lies that are making Muslim women rethink hijab and non Muslims an excuse to tell Muslims they don't need to cover. Just because she sounds educated doesn't mean she is speaking the truth. She says "An American Muslim like me..." YO sista I'm a business owner, mother, wife, RUclipsr etc and I wear hijab and Allah subhana wa ta'ala has blessed me for my struggle and sacrifices. Also FYI I have never been attacked for wearing hijab. If anything my hijab has given me the oppurtunity to give dawah alhumdulillah! I respect her as a person but I do not agree with anything she said. Sorry such a long comment.
+ Kevin Right , as salaam alaikom bro, I really don't think we should generalize. Definitely not all and I only met born muslim femenists, no reverts. Maybe best to just condemn the action and not the people, they are our sisters. Anyways forgive me for intruding bro :)
With all do respect...haha No one thinks Im white and when I try to tell people that I am they get confused because most people have a preconceived notion that Muslims are Arab.
Have you guys realised when Muhammad Hijab lowered his gaze throughout the whole video? Ma Shaa Allah Al’aik. Edited: Thank you all for the 1k likes! 🤲☺️
Emma Handaji Wonderland I do that all the time when I feel I’m looking at a woman too long, I thought it was just me being shy or afraid of offending a woman somehow lol. For the record I am not Muslim
I love your video so much. When I did my research about Islam before reverting I also watched her video and it confused me so much. I didn't really know anything about Islam yet and as a German woman who also has the media in the back of her head I was easily influenced by her. Alhamdullilha that I dug deeper into the topic to find the truth. Your video is very helpful, thank you for this.
I had seen this tedtalk, and i had shared it because i was so convinced that this is acceptable, but when tedtalks started showing speeches from “muslims” claiming that “homosexuality is not haram” and such stuff. That’s when i didnt know who to believe as i realised they have no idea what they’re actually saying. And since then i have started taking tafseer and hadith lectures.
I don't like people who look for loop holes in Islam, we were put on this earth for a test. We must do as much good as possible before our time runs out
True but I also think that trying to find faults just to get a better view of a religion is the best thing to do to understand it Because that way we know those faults aren't faults but something deep we weren't able to understand.. So yeah Just my opinion
@Sk Baby Can I ask a genuine question? Please explain how showing your hair is immodest? Is there a sexual connotation to hair? I understand that people wear the hijab to exercise "modesty" and glorify their god, but is that to say that other Muslim women can't dress modestly without the hijab?

I am not a Muslim, but even as a Christian watching this, her argument did not make sense. The minute we start interpreting our holy books through the lens of ever-shifting culture, we are elevating ourselves over God.
I finally figured out how to wear the hijab correctly, and I absolutely love it. I also wear the abaya. I'm 5'10 and thin and the one thing I've always had problems prior to conversion was being stared at. With the Hijab and Abaya-although fashionable-I feel protected from constant assessment. They can see the clothing but they don't see me. Sometimes I get negative reactions that could be Islamophobic but it's better than the objectification. Not only that, I don't have to worry about men approaching me, because it is assumed that I'm married. And no, I don't feel ugly in it. There are some sisters who say that they don't feel attractive in it but I don't feel the same. I'm think it also forces me to be a good behavioral example in the public eye, because I don't want to bring shame on the faith. This was my choice. I literally took shahada on the operating table.
sorry but i am curious to know why should you feel attractive around people?" attraction meaning to get people to like something" if i want to attract someone it will be only my wife why do i want to attract others and for what purpose or reason!!!!
These people in the comment section are ridiculous. They can't discuss hijab because they're not women? Do you even hear the hypocrisy in your own voices? Btw, there is a form of male hijab. Just so you know. If men can't speak of it, why listen to our beloved Prophet PBUH? He spoke of hijab, and covering modestly. He was most definitely a man. Astaghfirullah.
Madani Ibrahim you might not agree with feminism but it does not give you the audacity or the position to say who is a Muslim and who isn't. This is the problem with the Muslim ummah we are so untrue and we opress eachother and are unjust to one another that is why the ummah is crumbling.
I don’t wear the hijab and I am Muslim myself, when I go to the mosque for prayer I most definitely wear the hijab, now I don’t dress sexually I dress modestly I honestly never liked showing skin at all because it never really made me comfortable doing so.
You don't need to wear Hijab at home sister. Head covering is mandatory only before foreign men. This is a sign of identity as a Muslim and love for God. You can't change in a single step. Try to practice it. Gradually it will become a habit. Peace be upon you sis.
As far as the clothing aspect, what threw me off as well if the fact that she mentioned that the scholars have brought along the historical era to the modern era. The Quran is meant to NOT change... it will always be the same forever and just because mankind has changed and we have come to a modern era does not mean we make up new rules to make it halal to dress according to today’s so called “custom” as she mentioned. I can wear my hijab and be modest at the same time. If a sister does not feel comfortable to wear the hijab and cover then it’s her choice, she can just choose not to wear it and dress according to her custom. We cannot CHANGE the Quran based off of what we like and what we don’t like... we abide by it and will abide by it always like the way Allah has written for us ❤️
The Quran isn't even consistent in itseld. A lot of rules are overruled in later parts of the Quran and adapt to Muhammad's life and his desires of conquest and ruling.
The Quran when you read it and remember your reality how Accurate the Quran can be in showing the reality and how little they know they are leading themselves to their demise.
I just don't understand why what a woman choses to wear/not wear is the most debated subject when it comes to our religion. Why aren't people who don't pray or fast criticised the same way?! That's right.. because what they do/don't is strictly between them and God. The message is clear. The path is clear. It's not your job to force people to take it. Just live and let live, for the love of God. 🙄
The Hijab thing is just too much. If a lady does not wear Hijab it does not mean she is in mini skirts or a bikini. Most Arabs did not wear Hijab until Saudi became rich with oil.
the video is just to clarify that the Hijab is not optional the same way the salah is not optional, but after clarifying this, you are free to do what you want because you are not ignorant any longer and from here on out, its between you and God
Hiba OlaKeyboardo The hijab is debated because some women claim the hijab isn't wajib, you don't hear people who don't pray say "the salah isn't wajib".
For the longest time I thought Muhammad hijab and bro Musa was the same person ! Omg seeing them together makes things clear hahaha sorry this is random 😂
The logic of "hijab leads to harrassment, so take it off" is the same logic as " women wearing pants leads to harrassment " it's not about the clothing , it's about the mentality
I love how Ali and Musa are casually eating and watching the video and then you see Mohammed looking down lowering his gaze 😂 Masha'Allah. And it's funny how Ali and Musa knew what yoga pants are but Mohammed had no clue haha aw bless 🤣
@ how old is Musa? I know that Ali and Mohammed are from my generation (early to mid thirties) also known as Millenials. Is Musa a Gen-Z guy (early 20s)?
Wow I realised just now I have been conforming to western standards without even knowing I dress modestly but with western style subhanallah jazakallah khair to you guys for this video and all videos
I have seen this video of the lady in my RUclips recommended list for so long and I didn’t want to watch it because I didn’t want to feel mad at something I know it’s wrong but can’t explain why it’s wrong. Thanks guys. I’ve definitely struggled with wearing hijab first just the scarf was hard then covering body acceptable (I didn’t used to fully understand hijab) and alhamdulillah though I still struggle I find removing myself from bad gatherings or ignorant people as much as I can helps.
Hey this video is also in my RUclips recommendations for many times but i always ignore it cuz I think she's a feminist & nowadays it's become a culture to judge religion values so i think she's definitely critisize hijab that's why I didn't watch this ted talk
She's not wrong at all... I tried wearing the hijab and I attracted 10 times the male attention I usually attract, so it defeated the whole purpose. Being modest is all about your surroundings and your culture. We don't live in a vaccuum!
A scarf that goes on the head is "KHIMAR" (خمار ) and one that goes on the neck or shoulders is "WISHA'H" (وشاح). She just wants to justify her clothing style. Just wear what you want you're free but don't try to change a whole religion to suit your fashion style 😂
🙋i know. i see it @ first glimpse. May ALLAH gave ummah the courage to stand out against of killing the muslims and defend the every single muslim in the world. aameen.
Geralt of rivia approves this message bro I am Muslim I'm being sarcastic, I just find these guys hilarious. They so passionately attack us in the comments as if anything they say actually holds any value.

@@miiim nope she wasn't wearing anything inappropriate. she was actually pretty well covered. i am not a muslim ( rather looking into all religions out of interest ) so i was confused why mohammed didn't look and why they covered her body but from what i've seen ㅡ he was doing it out of respect which is nice !
@@theuniverse.3080 oh that's nice :) I'm a very jealous girl and if my husband would stay starring at a girl like they do, I'd feel like strangling him. LOL Good luck learning 🍀
She talks about harrassment but doesn't talk about what kind of harrassment. Wearing a hijab/niqab doesnt expose you to sexual harrassment as much as wearing a mini skirt. Idk about everyone else but I would rather expose myself to harrassment because of racist people who hate Islam (already happens) rather than sexual harrassment. One allows me to still have dignity
There is an experiment where they make a women walk around in normal cloths and she got a lot of cat calls and negative attention from men. Then a women wore a hijab and she got not even one harassment from hours of walking. So yeah ur right.
uzair abbas Yeah, idk if any of these men have daughters but I wonder how they would feel if that poor girl, may Allah swt grant her Jannah, was one of their daughters. So sad

The problem, arguably, is that many of our sisters’ have been indoctrinated by western ideologies such as feminism to the point that their belief in such a movement has surpassed their acceptance of Quran and Sunnah. The only cure to such ignorance is through knowledge. However, when evidence is presented to them, a defensive stance is always accompanied because society tells you as a woman to behave this way towards men. It is not a sin to talk about the problems of women nor are men unqualified to address such matters just because they have ‘XY’ chromosomes. I believe, the 3 brothers have done an exceptional job in dissecting such a video for the benefit of our ummah. It is not fair to scrutinise their efforts merely on the basis that you have a hard time accepting the truth. You made the choice to click, so drop the pride and draw on the merits.
Madeleine Price what freedom are you talking about? Feminism today are not about freedom but they want to control women. Feminists say they want every women to do what she want until women choice to be modesty and practice their religion
It's men like you that are arrogant and think their better than everyone else. So you believe women should not get an education or have the chance to be a doctor or lawyer all because you feel insecure and you use the religion to cover it up. Yes you can still be respectful to the religion you don't need to be walking in a mini skirt and no it doesn't mean we don't respect our husbands. Its that we also want some opportunity in life and because arrogant men like are so ignorant that's why some women end up depressed and unhappy is that what Islam told you to do ?
Oh Oh yes and I said I do not believe that.thats not what I am on about I’m on about basic rights we should have stop treating women like animals and maybe they won't get sucked up into your so called western ideology .some men nowadays take it too far which becomes unbearable some of these women which is why they become angered and forced to rebel so instead of blaming women fix yourselves and maybe you will see change

And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed. This is what the QURAN says
You know, as a teen, Ali Dawah was an Atheist? He read about EVERY religion multiple times and their books, and his end conclusion was that literally everything the Quran said made sense and was true which really shocked him, unlike any other books.
Chapter 24 verse 31: “LET them throw their [head] covers over their bosoms.” Where does it say they HAVE to wear a head cover??? “He has only forbidden you carrion, blood and pork and what has been consecrated to other than God...” (2:173). “God has permitted trade and He has forbidden usury...” (Qur'an, 2:275) Here it is 100% clear what is and is not allowed. But nowhere in 24:31 is it using words that have 100% clarity when it comes to head coverings. “LET them wear head coverings to cover their bosoms” is not the same as “THEY MUST wear...” LET is optional and not a requirement. If God wants women to not show their hair/head he could be clear like using “Forbidden or Permitted” But He didn’t. I can 100% say that God didn’t say covering their head is ‘Required’ (because it’s No Where in the Quran) and God didn’t say it’s ‘Forbidden’ for woman to show head/hair (because that is not mentioned anywhere) Scholars are not God. If they interpret that word as ‘head cover’ instead of ‘cover’ you can’t say that’s 100% what God meant. And you can’t 100% agree with scholars on this topic. You can’t even 50% agree with them because there’s nothing in the Quran ‘Requiring’ women to wear head covers. “Wow the scholars said women must cover their head. I’m going to blindly agree with them because I saw ‘head cover’ in the Quran.” No, that verse can be interpreted as “LET woman wear their head cover (being an object and not necessarily a requirement) to cover their bosoms” meaning use something/anything to cover your bosom. If that something is your head cover, you are allowed (not required) to use it.
The head coverings are a cultural thing. It’s not at all a “Requirement” by God. Just like a wife being “Required” to cook for her husband. The Quran NEVER says that’s a requirement, it says the must feed their “children” the word husband never appears. Just like in this it doesn’t “Require” any woman to cover their hair. If you’re going to believe anything, it should be what’s written in your book (comes straight from God) and not someone who isn’t God’s OPINION. Scholars are just saying their OPINIONS for verse. Scholars are not God. You should accept what’s being said in the book instead of what he(scholar) Think/Assume.
Siemensbot “the worst Muslim criminal amongst other Muslims, is the one who asks questions about something that was not made prohibited on the people, then it becomes prohibited as a result of his questioning” this is from the Quran. It’s God’s own words. And this is exactly what some of those “other sources” do. Scholars only for their opinion/interpretation of the Quran. Are they a more reliable source then the Quran? More reliable then God’s word? The only other source from the Quran and scholars are the Hadith. The Hadith is written by people who’ve eye witnessed the prophet (saws). Are eye witness more reliable then God’s Book? God has even told the prophet to not declare something as Required or Forbidden if He (God) has not claimed that: “O Prophet! Why holdest thou to be forbidden that which Allah has made lawful to thee? ”. If the prophet can’t do it, why should anyone else? This shows the seriousness of this. In conclusion God does not like any to declare something as a requirement or as forbidden if it is not Clearly mentioned in the Quran. Even if the prophet said something is allowed/forbidden that’s not mentioned in the Quran, it should not be associated with Islam. So the Quran can be considered an only source if the other sources claim a topic (like headcovering) to be Required/Forbidden if the Quran doesn’t clearly mention it (which it doesn’t, it’s only scholars claiming that). But if you want to believe in opinions of others rather then the Quran, that’s up to you. Source of the quotes: Quran (66:1), and Collected by Bukhaari and Muslim Other quotes “But say not - for any false thing that your tongues may put forth,- “This is lawful, and this is forbidden,” so as to ascribe false things to Allah. For those who ascribe false things to Allah, will never prosper” Quran (16:116) “This includes everyone who comes up with an innovation (Bid`ah) for which he has no evidence from the Shari`ah, or whoever declares something lawful that Allah has forbidden, or whoever declares something unlawful that Allah has permitted, only because it suits his opinions or whim to do so.” Tafsir Ibn Kathir (16:116).
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed. [24:31] Allah, جل جلاله, uses the word “tell” in the verse above, not ‘recommended’. In Arabic, the word is قل، which once again is a way to express order. The ayah also says “and wrap a portion of their head covers...” this indicates that the women of the time were ALREADY covering their hair! If the women were doing this, which is a form of modesty, in the Age of Ignorance, then don’t you think that it’s even more encouraged in Islam? I’ll tell you about another Hadith, and I’m sure you know about it, which is why I won’t put a source, if you’d like one, let me know. When the Prophet (PBUH) first entered Madinah, he observed that the Jews were fasting. So he asked him why they were, and they said that this was the day that Allah destroyed Firaun and his army, and they fast that day as thanks. Did the prophet (PBUH) abolish the act? No. This is what he said to his companions: 'You have more right to Musa than they do, so fast on that day.' This indicated that there is no need to remove something good from your daily life. One last point is, our Mother, Aisha, (may Allah be pleased with her), who was a better believer then all of us, used to cover her hair. So who are we to go against what she used to do? I know I said that the previous point would be my last, but I just remembered a few things. It is also narrated that Aisha (RA) said: “The women of Quraysh are good, but by Allaah I have never seen any better than the women of the Ansaar, or any who believed the Book of Allaah more strongly or had more faith in the Revelation. When Soorat al-Noor was revealed - “and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna” - their menfolk came to them and recited to them what had been revealed, and there was not one woman among them who did not go to her apron, and the following morning they prayed wrapped up as if there were crows on their heads. This Hadith has emphasis on their clothes covering their heads, why would their be such emphasis on that if it was not something important? Furthermore, when a woman prays she is required to cover her head and hair, because that is what is beautiful to Allah. And my last point (for real this time) is, the majority of the scholars have said that it is Wajib to wear the hijab. Now who are you to go against what learned people have said? And those who have said that it is compulsory are a far, far, larger group than those who have said otherwise. و الله أعلم و صلى الله على نبينا محمد

The brothers keep their eyes away to be respectful to themselves & this woman, due to the way she is dressed. In the original video she is wearing very tight skinny jeans. It's also said a woman that wears perfume & walks past men so they smell her scent is a temptress; I'd assume same applies to clothing. The brothers do not want to be tempted by a temptress. Whether skinny jeans can be regarded in this manner, I don't know. But that's their judgement on the matter by the seems.

@@submsiveboy7226 A man's authority over his wife is not just a privilege, but also a responsibility. It is a privilege he gets for taking care of her and her children financially, and it is his responsibility to ensure her security. More money is given to the man during inheritance, as he must spend not only on himself, but only on his family, whereas a woman can choose to spend solely on herself. Lol the ignorance about other religions make me laugh out loud! I being a Hindu myself was never asked to cover my head. And I've lived in one of the remotest area of the country too. Nobody there asked me to cover my head. Now when I'm living in Punjab (where Sikhism originated), majority of my friends are Sikhs for obvious reasons and no girl covers her head. Also, just to make it clear, I've no problem with hijab as such. Wearing or not wearing it must be a choice, not a compulsion which it sadly has become. In our culture as well as country, we are not forced to cover ourselves. If the logic behind forcible covering is to maintain modesty and protect yourself from catcalling, being grabbed teased etc then my friend, a woman can dress "MODEST" even without wearing a hijab!

So if you quote Rigveda then there are 3 other Veda and other texts like Bhagdad Gita, 108 Upanishads and Puranas and numerous other texts which convey no such rule or direction.
@@alishaimran424 Also, yeah you're right in Sikhism while we visit Gurudwara (the place of worship), Sikhs are supposed to cover their heads. And it is compulsory (and the clerics there reprimand you if you don't do it :p) but outside the Gurudwara there is no compulsion to do so. And nobody does so!
This girl though... So i'm commenting as i go along- she is saying that wearing a hijab or covering will lead to harassment, i don't know what world she leaves in because before I became Muslim, I wore whatever she said and i hated leaving the house wallah... being cat called, touched and even grabbed! I had to plan where i'm going based on what i was wearing not on need or function. NOTE: I'm not saying that all this doesn't happen, but to ME it happens less, and people sometimes, actually think twice before saying or doing anything= I live in Kenya BTW. I know there a lot of variables but weeeh, I genuinely laughed at that comment.
The thing is, it is not your fault you got harassed, men who are well raised should lower their gaze and not look at a women more than once and women should wear nonrevealing clothes and cover themselves. This is the proper equation.
When i was 13 i was walking home from the masjid on our neighborhood with two other of my girl friends, and there is bunch of boys walking towards us laughing and joking, i have my prayer matt that i hold, and one of those boys run towards me and grab my breast and laugh and run.. It was very traumatizing, i was so mad and confused.. We didn't know what to do i was just screaming and crying at the same time... Just saying.. Its not about what you wear at the end... At the end.
I remember watching this sister’s video and it really threw me off in terms of the women’s dress code. Well I mean, I knew that a woman (or man) can’t go wearing those trendy tight clothings, because that’s just common sense. Though it threw me off in terms of the head veil. But after a read last night of the wording and the input of these men, I can say I’ve got a good idea of it now. Thanks for the good work guys, Alhamdulillah.

Brother Ali in Arabic we call this “Tadlees” twisting Ayaas, Hadiths or even what some scholars said to fool people into believing an idea that the speaker wants to implement. Some do it on purpose and some do it out misguidance and ignorance.
I think (I could be wrong)what she means is, that at one point the traditional dress was adopted to protect women. Today in some countries that dress would be putting women in danger so adopting another style of dress would be more protective. I do think you could still dress modestly. So it's about the intent of the dress not the style of dress itself that matters.
So revealing clothes is much protective for women than traditional clothes idon't think that gone will specially with sexuall harrassment epedimic nowadays in western countries.
She's mixing between Hijab [Head cover] and Niqab [face cover]. While the Headcover is required every time and mandatory for every woman, the Niqab [according to majority of scholars is optional] but becomes mandatory if there's a danger of harassment in the society. So, telling people that Hijab or headscarf is not required is a deceiving and has nothing to do with Islam. Hope this would resolve the misconception.
it's a command from Allah not a man!! the more i view this type of videos i hold on to my hijab more ... from one point of view it's agurment and it's driving them crazy and that is for me is enough to tell the power of it !!
To all those who say that men should not be speaking about women's issues: "The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise." [Tawbah: 71]
Well said!! People have been deluded into thinking that the opposite gender is out to oppress them. We are all Muslims just trying to seek the straight path. "And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided..." [Ali Imran: 103]
Well on that note I wish Ali Dawah would only speak to men in his channel but so far he takes to the street and makes phonecalls to females. I don't care what his purpose is or how respectful he is to them, he should not be speaking to them so openly. And should be lowering his graze too.

JUST TO CLEAR UP FOR ANY NON-MUSLIMS WATCHING, A MUSLIM WOMAN DOES NOT HAVE TO COVER UP OR WEAR HIJAB IN HER HOUSE/INFRONT OF FAMILY MEMBERS (DAD, BRO, GRANDAD, UNCLES ETC). It's only in front of strangers and in public. thanks.
The Ted Talk individual is right. 👍 Khurma is a head covering ?? Khimar / khomoorehenna The traditional meaning has always been a cover, NOT a head cover; however, the latest innovation in translation defines it as head cover. Khimar was intentionally MADE to mean “head cover” by scholars who wished to enforce their personal understandings which, ironically, contradict God in the Quran. They passed this corrupted meaning to one another, including the scholars who re-wrote the Arabic dictionaries. The word “khimar” comes from the root word khamara which means “to cover,” so anything that covers anything is a khimar. Wine in Arabic is called “khamra”, because it covers the brain and makes one lose his or her ability to think correctly. A curtain is a khimar because it covers a window, a tablecloth is a khimar because it covers a table, a dress is a khimar because it covers the body (any dress is considered a khimar; khimar is not limited to a head cover). A blanket can be used as a khimar, a shawl is a khimar, etc. Most of the translators, influenced by Hadith translate the word as VEIL and thus mislead most people to believe that this verse is advocating the covering of the head. In 24:31 God is asking the women to use their cover ‘khimar’ (being a dress, a coat, a shawl, a shirt, a blouse, a scarf etc.) to cover their chest / bosoms, not their heads or their hair. If God so willed to order the women to cover their heads or their hair, nothing would have prevented Him from doing so, but God did not order the women to cover their heads or their hair. The Arabic word for chest, “jaib” is in the verse (24:31), but the Arabic words for head, “raas” or hair, “shaar” are NOT in the verse. The last part of the verse (24:31) translates as, “They shall not strike their feet when they walk in order to shake and reveal certain details of their bodies.” The details of the body can be revealed or not revealed by the dress you wear, not by your head cover. Notice also the expression in 24:31, “They shall not reveal any parts of their bodies, except that which is necessary.”
Sweety if you don't wanna wear hijab no one is forcing you, but stop acting like Hijab isn't something obligatory in Islam. We don't get our information only from the Koran, we get it from the Prophet's sunnah as well.
fifi trixiebell nothing wrong with wearing a headscarf my dear , but to say that it is obligatory/compulsory is not right. There is no compulsion in Quran. You contradict yourself here..
@@fazlinederies502 If you want to make up your own religion go ahead, that's between you and God. But like i said, just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's halal now, Allah referred to people who do that as "people of their desires". In Islam there are tons of obligatory things, but "there is no compulse in the religion" means that no one can force you to do it you have to do it on your own. The situation you just described leads to either two things 1: Islam contradicts itself, saying things like prayer or charity is obligatory while at the same time "it says nothing is obligatory" or 2: You either made it up to fit your desires or read it somewhere and accepted it because it fits your desires. Look sweety, if you dont wanna wear hijab, you wanna have haram relationships, make haram, that's fine, no one has the right to force you to do anything, but please don't put God or his religion as an excuse for your bad behaviours.
fifi trixiebell I love the scarf... I wear one it is a part of me.. I don’t think you are reading the above reply properly... go and research the Arabic word Khimaar..
A khimar in arabic is a covering. Like a covering for the floor, table, window. It’s a physical covering of something. The aya says to strike a covering over their pockets. The term pockets is used because it has a physical and psychological meaning. God didn’t use the term breast or chest deliberately. The Koran never talked specifically about hair covering. That’s what we humans made it. The interpretations nowadays about the Koran, and not only about the hijab, are really worrying. The hijab has been materialised. The Koran has been materialised. This is really concerning. I really hope muslim women start to open this discussion, because after all, they are wearing the symbol of the materialised Islam. It’s time to go back to the essence of Islam, and to fulfil our journey in this world as was asked by God, not by sheiks that are imposing interpretations that are dividing us, and are leading is to an earthly existing.
I’m arab. Al khimar simply means covering. Allah swt asked the women to cover their breast in that verse. There is NO MENTION of hair anywhere. They are picking at words and interpreting them how they wish. Ali was there comparing the word khimar to being absent minded when drunk therefore it refers to the hair LOOOOL. I worship Allah and not man.
I love how Muhammad Hijab says "stop right there my friend". Ali and Musa both started smiling like..."Ohhh...Its about to go down!!" 😃. Btw love how you structure your arguments. I would love to learn from you some day
Yes, they're so incredibly humble and open to the possibility of one day finding out that it's human nature to often be completely wrong about things. Doesn't Hijab's default facial expression just scream humble, open-minded flexibility? It's like he always says, "I'm often mistaken in my interpretation of the Quran. I'm only human." Don't ever change, boys.
Found your channel recently and going through old vids and I literally gasped when I opened this video. I put hijab on a year ago, I wasn't wearing it for the first 6 years I was Muslim, and I remember seeing this video years ago and practically nodding along. I was so scared to wear the hijab that I would do my best to convince myself the headscarf isn't an obligation only Sunnah and that I live in the West so it's not safe and that we live in a different time now blah blah blah. So I don't think it's necessarily that she's ignorant, she may subconsciously know that it is an obligation, but she's doing her best to convince herself and the world that we can interpret Islam for where and when we're living. It's almost sad, I remember how insecure I felt back then.
Can you do more videos on social political issues facing Muslims today? I understand hijab is important but i think we have heard A LOT about it. There's so much to talk and raise issues about
I saw this video a long time ago and being a hijabi what this lady said sort of bugged me Thank God Alhamdulillah for making this video it sort of made me feel better✨
Hiiii brothers! I wasnt really satisfied with how u explained about some points to prove her wrong. For example, like khimar, u claimed that khimar is a cloth that women used to cover their heads and neck. However, where is the clear evidence of that? The evidence that the khimār in pre-Islamic Hijaz covered the face or covered the hair is simply not there. The only thing that the verse allows us to say conclusively is that Muslim women were called upon to draw a piece of cloth (khimār) over the juyūb (bosoms)-whether it covered the hair or the face, we don't know. In other words, the Qurʾan in this verse calls upon women to cover their bosoms. Anything beyond that would require extensive research into the social practices of khimār dressing at the time of revelation, and the historical evidence is far more diverse and complex than many contemporary scholars assume it to be. Moreover, I wonder if women itself is really considered as awrah which makes them to cover themselves completely in front oh non related men... awrah and zinah is a different thing while most scholar mix it up. If women must really cover herself entiry, then it automatically means she will have to give up many physical activities outside because it's hard for women to do that while wearing niqab or burqa or hijab. Covering themselves up completely would no doubt cause lack of vitamin D and also cause her to suffer from heat especially in the desert while Islam talks the importance about being healthy. These facts will eventually lead women to stay inside the house as it's more convenient for them since they can dress freely. But wait! Prophet allowed some of the women to participate in the war to fight where there were full of men's! How did she fight so well if she was covering herself completely? Women are taken away many basic human rights she needs as a human being before being a women. She deserves to breath easily without niqab, eat normally without hiding and move easily while keeping modesty. Considering many different interpretations of different scholars who concluded hijab as not an obligation or an obligation, I have also asked and thought by myself a lot which made me to believe that Allah did not make niqab or hijab mandatory. I'm still studying tho. Btw brothers please clear my mind if you can prove that the khimar being a cloth used to cover the head and neck!
Read the meaning of the word in classical dictionaries. Also from the teachings of prophet (sunnah). Look at codes followed by prophet's wives (pbut). Some people try fit the meanings with the social norms but we should learn the moral codes at least from the classical interpretation.
As far as I know hijab means covering oneself with clothes that are not transparent and do not expose ones body.....💁♀️...also hijab is farad i.e, mandatory....btw there is dress code for men also🙂
It is in all reality, not even in a single ayat, explicitly/implicitly mentioned that "hijab" is obligatory. And hijab doesn't even mean a headcovering which the Muslims associate it with. It means a kind of seclusion.
Zarinsadaf Lopa the companions of the prophet salalaho alayhi wa sallam and the prophet himself were left to interpret the Quran and then the followers of the companions got the interpretation from the pioneering women that were around in the prophets time of practicing modesty. Yes the men must lower their gaze but the women must dress modestly. Low cut tops, leggings, are they modest in the slightest? We like our women not to be perved on.
@@Kofi_Mensahs_BurnerAccount It actually more depends on what kind of society a woman is living in. Of course you know that in many countries, these dresses which you mentioned are presumed to be normal and nothing immodest. And it is the woman's decision to wear what she likes. We are not anyone to impose a certain clothing on somebody in my opinion. A woman is.capable on her own to decide if what she is wearing is modest or immodest.
Zarinsadaf Lopa yes the women have the choice. I used the word ‘like’ as opposed to the word ‘want’. La iqraha fi deen’ is a statement I will live and die by.
May Allah bless these men and enter them jannah tul firdous! I'm amazed at Muhammad's loyalty to his faith and the way he kept his gaze down, MashaaAllah May Allah increase his faith!
The guy in the tan shirt is very respectful. He lowered his gaze the entire time. Jazakallah brother in the tan. If all brothers lowered their gazes like the are instructed to, women’s dressing wouldn’t be such a problem to them. But most men, do not lower their gazes from women who are not their spouse so they become very judgmental of women and are more concerned over women than themselves. Learn to lower your gazes before you comment about a woman and her attire.

Subhan Allah, I have to say this I am so so happy that you guys did this reaction video. It less of a reaction and more of a geniuine intellactual discussion. Alhamdullilah I am a muslim girl and there is nothing more than my hijab that makes me feel happy and complete at the same time, without which I would probably feel naked even though I would have layers of clothing up untill my neck. Regarding this lady I would say that it is her own opinion and she is twisting historical facts in a way such that they could suit her better. Now, the question is whether or not is it an issue. In answer to that it would say YES as well as NO. Yes, because alot of ignorant muslim women who have doubts on hijab may take a note of it and start unveiling because of it. No, because brothers there is something that only a women can understand and men cannot understand about the hijab. In our hearts Allah has put a sense of tranquility that is unexplainable but only a hijabi women can feel that. Men have been deprived of that feeling so in a way I am clearly saying this that women have been bestowed with an extra something with which they can feel close to Allah. So when females such as this lady and many more like her take their veil off they know in their hearts that they are doing wrong. That is why they either completely shut themselves from investigating into the matters just to give peace to their hearts or they investigate in a way so that they find something in the literature that they can twist and kind of justify their unveiling. I think there is one more explanation to why they start twisting the word of Allah and make it to suit them better because how else would they put their hearts at rest knowing that they are doing wrong. They need to have something to justify their acts because brothers they know deep in their hearts that they are wrong. Unveiling has nothing to do with the women empowering but it has every element that can set a war against Allah's commandments and there is no getting away from that. I pray to Allah that we both muslim men and women know our dutues towards Allah and abide by them without any doubts in our mind. Ameen.
I admit that I agreed with her when I saw the ted talk, Alhamdullah for this reaction. coz it cleared up a lot. I hope in sha Allah it will be as popular as the first video. ( but Ali where is the marriage video tho 😶) you guys are sick may Allah preserve you and grant you Jannah.
"It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah . But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding." 3:7
The fact that they say no scholar ever has said that women don’t have to cover their heads is ridiculous. Muhammad Asad believed that the verse didn’t imply that women had to cover their heads. He wrote a best-selling autobiography called the “Road to Mecca” and translated the entire Quran giving his belief on specific parts of verses. You called her ignorant yet you simply either don’t know or lie about facts.

let's be very clear. I am an American revert of 6 years alhumdulillah. I made a comment of this video yall are watching. I found it so incredibly "opininated" and holds NO ground in Islam whatsoever.

Well said 👏🏼👏🏼
they have become like feminists in west! they take order from them now! we must become more open about what is going on! well said!
Christian Pettersen why does it always have to be a us versus them situation. What is wrong with feminism.
Madani Ibrahim that's not an answer.
Please watch this video on youtube (daimonds of Islam by ILovUAllah)
You don't need to wear Hijab at home sister. Head covering is mandatory only before foreign men. This is a sign of identity as a Muslim and love for God. You can't change in a single step. Try to practice it. Gradually it will become a habit. Peace be upon you sis.
Same here i try to be modest.
Hijab is obligatory sister. U have no choice.
You need to wear hijab only before non mehram men..foreign men.....🤠...

Most Arabs did not wear Hijab until Saudi became rich with oil.
the video is just to clarify that the Hijab is not optional the same way the salah is not optional, but after clarifying this, you are free to do what you want because you are not ignorant any longer and from here on out, its between you and God
sofwan
That's actually a lie, Muslim women wore hijab way before any Arab country was created.
Hiba OlaKeyboardo
The hijab is debated because some women claim the hijab isn't wajib, you don't hear people who don't pray say "the salah isn't wajib".
Hold your horses, stop accusing me.

You made the choice to click, so drop the pride and draw on the merits.
go on and be a donkey, you wont be missed as an enemy to a woman's freedom.

And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
This is what the QURAN says
That doesn't sound like full body cover to me
You know, as a teen, Ali Dawah was an Atheist? He read about EVERY religion multiple times and their books, and his end conclusion was that literally everything the Quran said made sense and was true which really shocked him, unlike any other books.
Chapter 24 verse 31: “LET them throw their [head] covers over their bosoms.”
Where does it say they HAVE to wear a head cover???
“He has only forbidden you carrion, blood and pork and what has been consecrated to other than God...” (2:173).
“God has permitted trade and He has forbidden usury...” (Qur'an, 2:275)
Here it is 100% clear what is and is not allowed.
But nowhere in 24:31 is it using words that have 100% clarity when it comes to head coverings. “LET them wear head coverings to cover their bosoms” is not the same as “THEY MUST wear...”
LET is optional and not a requirement. If God wants women to not show their hair/head he could be clear like using “Forbidden or Permitted” But He didn’t.
I can 100% say that God didn’t say covering their head is ‘Required’ (because it’s No Where in the Quran) and God didn’t say it’s ‘Forbidden’ for woman to show head/hair (because that is not mentioned anywhere)
Scholars are not God.
I’m going to blindly agree with them because I saw ‘head cover’ in the Quran.”
No, that verse can be interpreted as “LET woman wear their head cover (being an object and not necessarily a requirement) to cover their bosoms” meaning use something/anything to cover your bosom.
Shut up if you dont know anything. The Quran isnt the only sources of islam.
Siemensbot
“the worst Muslim criminal amongst other Muslims, is the one who asks questions about something that was not made prohibited on the people, then it becomes prohibited as a result of his questioning” this is from the Quran.
God has even told the prophet to not declare something as Required or Forbidden if He (God) has not claimed that:
“O Prophet!
Source of the quotes: Quran (66:1), and Collected by Bukhaari and Muslim
Other quotes
“But say not - for any false thing that your tongues may put forth,- “This is lawful, and this is forbidden,” so as to ascribe false things to Allah. For those who ascribe false things to Allah, will never prosper”
Quran (16:116)
“This includes everyone who comes up with an innovation (Bid`ah) for which he has no evidence from the Shari`ah, or whoever declares something lawful that Allah has forbidden, or whoever declares something unlawful that Allah has permitted, only because it suits his opinions or whim to do so.” Tafsir Ibn Kathir (16:116).
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Allah, جل جلاله, uses the word “tell” in the verse above, not ‘recommended’.
No. This is what he said to his companions:
'You have more right to Musa than they do, so fast on that day.'
This indicated that there is no need to remove something good from your daily life.

It is not true that she can't say no. She is permitted to say no if she has a valid reason, such as being tired. Do a quick google search if you are not convinced.
Mash'Allah Muhammed lowering his gaze throughout the video is just amazing. May Allah bless all you brothers.
one way to tell if the Hijab we have today is the correct one, is that even christian nuns also wear a dress that covers everything expect for the hands and the face, and jewish women are also required to cover their heads. *drops mic*
Also in hinduism, women cover their heads, in Sikhism women cover their heads.
Yet its only Islam that people have a problem with.

@@alishaimran424 unlike Islam, Hinduism doesn't have any strict authoritative text. Hinduism is a way of life and we are allowed to follow depending on our "way of life". The core idea is to be moral in our conduct and actions.
At the end.

Also we should remember that a woman has a high chance of being in danger if she is wearing a hijab or not. Abusers will always find a way.
Traditionally women in arab used to walk half naked even in front of the holy mosque...

The Ted Talk individual is right. 👍
Khurma is a head covering ??
3rah truth! These men are ignorant fools
Thank you brothers for keeping it real! Feminism has destroyed so many of us sisters! She is scared and not strong enough to where her faith!
I love how they evaluated this so modestly and how Muhammad Hijab kept his eyes down
I love how Muhammad Hijab says "stop right there my friend".
It's almost sad, I remember how insecure I felt back then.
proud of bro Hijab, this session I learned how to behave when in the situations as facing women in non hijab condition.

I saw this video a long time ago and being a hijabi what this lady said sort of bugged me
Thank God Alhamdulillah for making this video it sort of made me feel better✨
You're just mad cause she's saying the truth... Just admit it
Hiiii brothers!
So there is a Thats messed up series by Ustadh Nouman Khan and it basically explains the ruling on hijabs
