If you want to do this a safer way, you can enter the door to the north, and clear out the enemies to get the door back open. By coming out of that door, you will spawn there after you fall into the pit, which gives you more time than if you spawn from the left side door. It is much faster to not have to clear out the enemies in the north door, but the timing is a lot tighter if you don't do it.
