This is how you do a refit. It looks beautiful but still has all the elements of the original building either featured or as a novelty talking point. The architects and designers who worked on this should be applauded. I would love to stay here but I get the feeling just from the video that it is 100% haunted. I’d definitely need a sleep buddy, too!

In my humble opinion this is easily the best and most interesting hotel you have ever visted on the channel, and I think the price you paid of £130.00 a night including breakfast was very reasonable given the high quality and general ambiance of the place. I live up in Nottingham but am definately going to make the effort to have a couple of nights here at some point. Maybe all the staff should dress up as 'screws' to add even more to the theme....Just kidding, but being serious, this hotel looks fantastic!

I visited Bodium Jail a couple years ago. Really interesting place.

My wife and I stayed at Bodmin jail in September 2022. And, strangely enough, we stayed in room 208 - SPOOKY! 😂
I honestly can't say enough good things about the jail and the staff. It was amazing! The room, the food, the ambience of the place was amazing. In fact, it was so good, we're going back this year! And the cocktails were stunning and the guys mixing them were hilarious!

I visited Alcatraz in San Francisco many years ago when they were in the early days of preparing it for the public to visit. During the tour we were taken to a solitary confinement cell which felt very authentic because it was dirty and stank. They asked for volunteers to go in and have the door locked, so of course my boyfriend and I volunteered. We were locked in there for three minutes. The heavy door was a foot thick and there were no windows, pitch black for three minutes felt like a lifetime!

That’s a fabulous conversion - really nicely done. I think it felt so quiet because of the thickness of the walls.
Famously the jail is one of the places where Derek Acorah, a “medium” was caught out! In an episode of Most Haunted, Acorah claimed to have been possessed by a spirit named Kreed Kafer, a South African. It was later revealed that "Kreed Kafer" was a fictional character, who was created purely for the show - it’s an anagram of “derek Faker” 😆
Love to stay there - one to put on the list!

What an incredible concept! Such a masculine vibe with black combined with elements of steele, stone and leather. I love the details, like the former chapel ceiling and the automatic strip lights that luminate the grid panels in the main halls, otherwise its low light ambient. The diamond plate panels in the gym, even the bars and chains at the entrance, even the ghost tour! I don't think it's overdone because they have to offer something extra ordinary to attract guests. I would stay there for sure!

Indeed, without doubt, an incredibly unique hotel. When you referred to the cost in the Q&A which you did I thought it sounded reasonable. Having now seen the hotel in detail, whilst a little on the expensive side, it is very much worth it with breakfast included. Two course dinner for £25, assuming high quality food, is also very good. I think the word you were looking for at breakfast was toast rack, which to be honest I would have expected the toast to be served in. And finally(!) always great to see Thumps.

I love a big slice of history and this certainly ticks the boxes for unique experiences. Love the info about each individual cell and the option to pay to go on a ghost tour- i’d be straight there as I find it so interesting. A very reasonable price for a one off unique experience. I think i’d probably feel that the walls were closing in on the cells a little bit though so strangely would have to close the curtains to trick myself into thinking this isn’t a cell with tiny barred windows. That really seemed a unique place to stay, and that fact alone must add to the value of the room. Watching your footage I sensed the most creep when you entered the bathroom - utterly still, no noise, no fans, no sense of anyone else left in the world that hadn't been hung already. The only downside must be, however, that carpet - really dubious sub-Spoons pattern, that!

I use to live in Wallace road, approx 20/21 years ago and use to drink in the pub there and play pool. Place never bothered me, pub was always cheap. People were ok. Nice to see them restore it as opposed to demolish or let go to dereliction.
