Rockboard is weird. This is a fine game to begin with, there are good ideas and it was a good shot at the board game genre, however it felt like Capcom still wanted to make more money from children who were looking for new Rockman game after 5 disappointed them.
I recall initially playing this on a bootleg multicart that had a fan translation patch version of this game and all I can say is its alright but probably not a game I'd play again
I played this alot last year. I like the game but it's something that needs more iteration to be truly great. Anyway, there's only 1 substantial difference between the characters; labs. When someone lands on a lab that's not theirs there's a chance of a secondary effect happening. Said effect has a slightly higher chance of happening if the lab is spruced up. Light's labs let other users draw cards, Roll's labs can cause players to rest a turn, Cossack's will sometimes force players to roll again, Kalinka's labs can cast a "transformation curse", and WIly's does..... something? I think it forces the user to pay 300 extra? Sets the owed amount to 300? Not sure. Also, if you press B(or was it Start?) at the screen which shows the victory conditions, you can adjust them to your liking and do things like make a game that requires owning a large percentage of lots to win the game.
Okay, whatever you may think about Rockman 5, at least it wasn't a board game. 😁 To be fair, this one isn't 'horrible' compared to many others on the system, but it would still be the last Rockman-related game on the system I'd play.
I was about to leave a comment that I haven't heard of this game but after watching it's gameplay I vaguely remember loading the game up by accident while browsing through a famicom rom collection someone shared somewhere way back in 2007 or 2008. Even with the Romaji named rom files, since I'm not fluent in Japanese and especially more so back then without an English translation patch I had no idea what was happening while playing despite recognizing it as a board game. Growing up in the U.S. I obviously knew about the Famicom but that was the very first time I got to experience some Famicom games first hand. I'll never forget that moment when I discovered Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki I started screaming and lost it because at that time hardly anybody here knew River City Ransom had a sequel lol 😄
so it plays like monopoly? I'm sure with some tweaks it would probably be a lot of fun. I'm sure I messed around with it as a ROM but don't think I had a translation at the time so no idea what I was even doing.
Have you ever thought of wanting to live in Japan ❓I am wondering lang. It's my birthday today by the way thank you and I played Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6RR again by the way ‼️😃
I stumbled across this one day in Morioka (in the north east of Japan) I thought it was some kind of bootleg or rom hack committed to cartridge, I had no idea it existed and I count myself as a rockman fan. I didn’t buy it though, even as a fan I can’t bring myself to buy stuff I just don’t like.
This kinda game has will have me thinking "Why am I not playing the originals and you know, doing the thing this series is known for ?", put the game aside and play some of the original games. It just feels like something that shouldn't exist, as it only reminds me of games I'd *actually* be playing instead.
That reminds me of SuperAdventure RockMan, which is said to be a really good take on FMV-based games, but not the kind of gameplay that RockMan fans were ever really looking for.
I had no idea this even existed

Btw this is the game that introduced Reggae who later appeared in MM7.

I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't be playing a video game if I wanted to play a board game! 😆
My main exposure to this series is in kingdom hearts birth by sleep. It was fine there as a mini game, but I can't imagine paying 50 bucks for it.
I'm kind of flabbergasted that you can't play as Rock Man in this.

So the robot masters are like a multi-turn version of the Bowser Suit from Mario Party?

Seriously? You can't play as RockMan in RockBoard? LOL. Also, RockBored would be a better title for this Famicom Game.

Do you swear while playing sometimes ❓

Does Rockman actually do anything in this game?
I think this game is cute... but... it's kinda stupid.
