I use Momentous brand magnesium threonate as recommended by Dr. Andrew Huberman. He does a lot of discussion about sleep. I take 1 a night. Less than the dose on the bottle. I’m also a firm believer in getting the sun in your eyes early in the morning to set the circadian rhythm. Hard to do in the winter which is pretty grey in OH. This is not like a drug, like ambien or Tylenol pm. Which will knock you out, but don’t actually provide the rest or sleep cycles your body needs. I’ve tried ambien and I actually think it makes me depressed.

Thank you; you've explained more than my endocrinologist ever took the time to go over with me. Now I don't feel so hopeless about improving my health.

Same here! I believe my thyroid issue and Hashimoto’s was due to a shocking amount of stress to my system after my healthy little grandson was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease and as a result, he was left with a giant aneurysm in his coronary artery. I truly believe that stress put my body in shock. I ❤ Dr. Childs.

Nutritionally speaking, eating the Carnivore diet has helped my thyroid more than anything else. Animal flesh and fat is the most bio-available nutrition that we can get. Since starting this diet, I haven't needed any supplements except for magnesium. I've tried to take a multivitamin but it just hurts my stomach or causes me joint pain. I've been able to lower my levothyroxine way down since eating this way. I've been on Levo for over 20 years. I hate it because it's not effective . My goal is to heal my body. I drink a hot cup of filtered water with 3 pinches of Real Salt in it every mid morning also, it revs up your adrenal glands and cleans toxic halides out of your cells to open up receptors for the Iodine that I take in a glass of water. Lugols solution is the best I've ever taken. When I feel fatigue during the day, I take a drop in a glass of water and it boosts me and calms my thyroid. I do that multiple times a day if need be. Iodine is vital and safe. Your body may have to make adjustments to it so go slow to begin with. No one is allergic to Iodine, if you have any kind of reaction to taking it, it's your body's reaction to the inflammation that's already there. Lugols solution has been gentle for me. I love using it. I take 5 to 6 drops a day of the 2% solution. Beef Bacon Butter and Eggs are Ideal to start with. It changes your life for the better. I no longer see doctors all the time and loathe going when I have to for thyroid tests. I pray one day that I will not need to take anything and avoid doctors altogether. I mean no offense Dr. Childs, but I've been wronged by so many doctors for so many years that I want them out of my life.

Carnivore is THE only thing that has helped me. I have Hashimotos and it's been kicking my butt for years. 🥺 I am thankful I finally found a Dr. who prescribed Armour Thyroid for me because Levothyroxine messed me up horribly. I started dabbling with Carnivore this summer and OMG after just a couple of weeks, not even strict Carnivore, the horrible swelling I suffered every day was gone. My skin looked better and my energy levels were picking up. I'm trying to get my family to dive into it, too. It's very challenging for me to stick to Carnivore when I'm still cooking meals for them. ❤

I think my thyroid got screwy after having kids. Tests showed issues at 30, docs ignored until a new PCM had a cow reading my old results. 20 yr of no meds. I am on a low dose. No weight loss or improvement on my cholesterol. My good cholesterol is very high….pretty weird. Blood pressure borderline.

Starr was hypothyroid which motivated him to read 100 years of the best research on thyroid. Endocrinologists are taught the same thing as every GP on the block: go by the TSH and if you do show up on the radar, give synthetic T4 instead of the glandular, whole thyroid hormone. Starr has a whole chapter on tests, etc. why the blood test is not a reliable indicator, etc. stopthethyroidmadness might be helpful to you, I don't use it because I have Starr's book. It changed my life after the blood test said my thyroid was fine and dandy nothing to see here move along
