  • Graphing Linear Functions by Finding X and Y Intercepts
    In this video, I show how to graph a linear function by finding its x-intercept and y-intercept. This is one of the foundational techniques for graphing linear equations and can help you understand the visual representation of the function's behavior. By substituting 0 for either x or y, we can find these intercepts and plot the graph. I work through two complete examples to illustrate the process, breaking down each step for clarity. If you're new to graphing or looking for a refresher on finding intercepts, this video is for you!
    What You Will Learn:
    The basic concept of finding x and y intercepts of a linear function.
    Step-by-step instructions on how to substitute values to find intercepts.
    How to plot a linear function using its intercepts.
    Visual examples that help deepen your understanding of the intercepts and their role in graphing.

    I love the fact that i can pause Patrick if i want to just take everything I'm looking at into perspective for a second. I can also rewind Patrick if i need to hear something again or fast forward Patrick if i already know what hes talking about. Why can't i do that in school?!?!

    One of the absolutely wonderful memories I have of that time is when I watch one of your videos and fully understand a subject I was struggling with...

    @Glowbify well, you can add or subtract things to put it in the same form, but that is not needed. just plug in x = 0 and solve for y. plug in y=0 and then solve for x.

    I am trying to solve some questions but I don't know how to start. The question is: Find the slope and y-intercept of the graph of the linear equation. Then write the equation of the line in slope-intercept form.
    All it gives me is a graph, it shows clearly that the line passes through -2 on the y intercept line and the travels up into the positive . How do I find the slope? and is the y int just the -2? How do I write the equation? Your videos basically saved my life (AKA my math grade) last year! They are so helpful! Thank you!

  • @patrickjmt
    @patrickjmt  16 лет назад

    this you could not do, as the only intercept is at the origin... (0,0) so that only yields one point on the line.
    you could also let x=1, so as a result, y=1, so that another point on the line would be (1,1) and now you have two points

      It does matter if you are left or right handed, you can look it up but it has something to do with the right side of your brain is controlling the left side of your body and the left brainside is controlling the right side of your body, if you are left handed your brain is used mostly in the right side and the left side, mostly for creativity, imagination... Is free to think about all of that, im not a good explainer but i think you get the idea ;)
