It’s a new boss for big bore Airgun rifle ZEUS .72 from AEA 850GR .72 caliber 870FPS 3 good shots. 1500 FPE 850GR. Now yessss. You can make neck shots on deer 🦌 with this monster caliber
Several years ago I told Nick that his HP cavities were too small to expand at air rifle velocities. His dies for the older bullets (before the hollow cavity and big HP development) were from Corbin and the cavities were designed for smokeless velocities. I was glad to see that he finally got some bullets out that had better expansion. I've had some problems at over 100 yards when the small HP versions bullet has slowed down quite a bit that there was zero expansion and the deer ran VERY far and I had a unusually hard time finding it the the East Texas thickets. His newer style bullets have proven by actual in field use much better in my opinion
The past 2 deer i shot with my texan cf 457 i shot with the new style 348 knurled dropped in there tracks the one was 40 yards and dropped and the second was 128 yards right behind the shouler dropped right in her tracks big mature doe bullet expanded and was behind the hide on the oppisite side bullet hit the deer like a freight train the thud was so loud it echoed.
I shot a doe with the 350gr NSA BTHP slugs at 106 yards this year. Hit right behind the shoulder and got a complete pass through actually breaking her far shoulder on its way out. Very impressed with NSA and the Texan.
Those 350gr bt-hp's are no joke me and my gf went out with the texan lss .457 yesterday after finally getting my new nomad 3 compressor and got a proper sight in and holy crap sighted in at 100yds using the vortex viper pst gen ii at 150yds with a 3.5 hold over I was consistently hitting a 4inch plate these rifles are absolutely amazing paired with the nsa 350gr
Thanks 👍. I would love to see a conversation with one of these RUclips riflemen and yourself discussing these topics together. There's a persistent rule of thumb about needing 1000ft-lbs minimum to ethically take a deer for example. I for which completely disagree with. I'm in the camp of, there's no replacement for displacement. In all seriousness, I view airgun hunting to be similar to muzzleloader and in comparison to rifle hunting, your not afforded all the same shooting solutions which makes it more of a challenge.
I like the advice you gave me and it really does make sense to start watching where and who I decide to put my money through and within which sect of companies one decides to have as his home base or team of manufacturers and you even pointed it out here and a lot of you guys have already did the r and d on the platforms vs some platforms or manufacturers guns just get sent in without very much done and this all plays a very big role in how someone that might be just getting seriously interested may have a better or easier more enjoyable route if they decide to listen to your advice here and I totally agree with you being some one who didn’t really know what I was doing my first 8,000$ in and I’ve experienced some crappy service but we’ll leave that out of it but when I’m able to continue my passion after my surgery I can’t wait to get some things going and shooting some kick ass setups.
I love the Texan. I’ve got the SS in 308 and dropped a 50lb goat at 130 yards with a 50gr JSB diabolo. I’d love a bigger one but shipping the ammo to Europe in any quantities from the states would just be to expensive. I LOVE THIS RIFLE in all its layouts
You should try one of the mrhollowpoint 655 grain hollowpoints just have to take tank off to load them. Thinking of using some for deer and sighting in with like a 415 grain hollowpoint and seeing where the 655's hit at certain distances.
My first kill shot with my texan, I hit it the shoulder at 50. The slug I was using broke both shoulder bones and exited the deer and kept going, the doe dropped in her tracks...
I believe I met with your Chief of Wildlife last summer at the Midwest meeting. It is on their radar, but get with Mitch King at the ASA to give you any back story to talks. Reach out to your DNR law enforcement to find out how “legal methods of take” are established. Here in Michigan that is normally determined by a Governor appointed counsel and doesn’t have to be legislative action.
@@UpNorthAirGunner Ya unfortunately that falls on deaf ears up here in NY, and is like pissing into the wind to get things like this done, Wishing you the best of luck,.... It's def time to move down to some Red states..., happy hunting
Truly Awsome Chris, Been following you, and your infamous knowledge base on this platform for years.... I'm modified with the 2018 AAO magnum super valve as I like to call it,.. and I'm currently running the NSA 350 HPBT's exclusively myself.. As I cast my own slugs,.. I couldn't agree more that these by far imo, are the most surpreme pellet(Bullet truly) for this rifle... Just a big shout out and an Excellent review bud... still waiting for NY to wake up, so I can take this bad boy out to the field legally, as DEC and libs can really suck up here killing this fine sport. Question: What power wheel setting and pressure are you running on the 350 NSA? if you don't mind my asking.... I'm just about maxed out and running 3500-maybe 3550 psi with great results at 100, with the FX Wireless Chrony... thx brother.. keep those vids coming and happy shooting ..Cheers!!
Anything above 350 grains I am at 3/4 powerwheel. Anything below I am pretty much maxed out backing a little off of max. I have found with some Texans you can actually lose a little hammy smack due to coil bind if you crank it all the way up. So I go full power and back off 1/2 turn for light weight ammo.
@@UpNorthAirGunner Thank you bud, I'll do some testing and check it out. Any suggestions for distributors that you may be using in the States for Top hat size O-rings? I wish the M3 could shoot Boat tail slugs!! It seems like 3.9mm is the longest that will fit in the magazine....is there any way to shoot longer slugs than that? Some single load that can wiggle a big slug in there??

i hope you can point me in the right direction, my question is where can i being an ex-felon i been trouble free for 10 years can i use this to leaglaley to hunt with? i have been able to find what i am searching for on and at a loss as i dont want any more trouble and to follow all the rules i have to , to be able to hunt leaglaly again.. thank you for you time and videos
I have a 457 cf without moderator and purchased the 350 as well as the 400 grain hpbt. I am having trouble getting them dialed in. I think my Texan likes the 350's better. When adjusting the power wheel does it help tighten the grouping by screwing it toward the tank? Does it use less air when turned toward the tank? I am new to the air gun world and need a little direction thanks
Chris, Huge fan! Have been binge watching your videos all week. I'm still on the fence on the caliber to buy. I'm looking for knock down power, velocity, tight groups, about 500 yard range. I keep bouncing from .357, . 45)457cal, to .50cal. any suggestions would be great. Thanks
If you are looking for a long range tool I would go with the .257 so you can shoot more on less air, but the .457 is also very good and gives you better dust feedback for shots beyond 300 yards. It gets hard to see your misses with the .257.
enjoyed your video, you have gotten really good at putting them together, but please take a look at your volume, one second i can barely hear you, the next its very loud...
I live in Oregon on some property I've killed deer elk and bear with a Texan at least fifteen animals I've used 145 grain round ball and I've used Nielsen specialty also hand casting no animal ever left 25 yards because it's quiet and they thought they were stung by a bee watched everyone fall
That comment is loaded with all kinds of variables. I think the Bushbuck is rated at 600 FPE, but manufactures (all of them) use the heaviest possible ammo to achieve those numbers. Also the kind of ammo you shoot into gel is going to effect that penetration immensely. Notice how the various ammo in this test mushroomed and dumped energy or zipped right through or a combination of both.

Well considering we have been eating game animals shot with lead bullets for hundreds of years - no. Furthermore the amount of meat the lead projectile comes in contact with is minimal. Another reason for a behind the shoulder through the ribs shot. Less meat lost since it is just the ribs.
This is very interesting, but without knowing how far from the gelatin you shot, and if you were filling the tank to 100% for each shot, this is not a very useful video. Please include these facts going forward. Thank you.
I do all my testing at 10 yards across all my videos. FBI rated gel is just a measuring tool and not actual real world performance in tissue and bone. Every shot is a full 3650 PSI fill.
