Would love to see a breakdown of your daily/weekly flow, to see how you incorporate all of your subjects/content and enrichment. So much good stuff here.
I’m currently binge watching your videos and LOVING all your content. You mentioned a lot of instagrams you follow. Have you or will you be doing a video on your favorite homeschool resources (insta accounts, RUclips channels) that are your tried and true go to’s for planning and inspiration?
You are amazing. I'm home schooling because of covid-19. My niece that I had just adopted when the pandemic happened. Thank you for sharing. You are very informative. I would buy your curriculum.
Have you looked at Beautiful Feet Books? We loved that for our first go round with American History. We are currently using MOH and loving how easy and quick it is! We have went through SOTW as well and do love the audiobooks for them. We almost always did the narration questions verbally and we always did the maps. My kids learned soo much just with the mapping alone! I’d say don’t skip those. We also bought a scratch off map with countries of the world on Amazon and scratched each country off as we studied it. That was really fun! Like a huge lotto ticket :) lol
The scratch off map is a fun idea! I have looked at Beautiful Feet Books, but I was really intrigued by the idea of doing a 4-year cycle through history, at least initially. I like that I can keep it as simple or as entailed as I like with MOH! I do plan to look at BFB’s around the world picture books lists.
I have no idea where to start with geography so I’m really excited for your geography curriculum! I love all your book hauls and get so many ideas from you. Thank you!
I am loving following you. I started preschool last year with my daughter but we are going full-blown kindergarten this year. Your videos help me so much and make me feel so confident to homeschool. I have wanted to for a very long time but I’ve been apprehensive. Thank you so much 😊
I am so glad my videos are an encouragement to you! It’s a prayer of mine that this space would be an encouragement to others. ❤️ I hope you have a wonderful kindergarten year with your daughter!
I can’t wait to see what you’ve made for the curriculum. I always love your book picks too and wow my wishlist keeps growing every time I see you videos 😂
For family subjects (geography, science, social studies, Bible, history) we do Gather ‘Round unit studies! It resonates so well with us and it’s our favorite part of our homeschooling, I add field trips and movies and experiments, all the things! Great video as always!
Thanks for sharing what you are going to be doing! That's exciting that you are writing your own ciriculum! I really want to use the Mystery of History, but my oldest is only pre-k this year. So I am thinking in a couple of years doing it. Looking forward to hearing how everything goes!
@@TheHomeschoolConvert yeah it sounds like a fun history curriculum to do. I was homeschooled, and I did Abeka history, which was OK, but just not sure if that's what I am wanting to do.
I think you could do it with some adjustments! The way I’m doing it is more like a feast of options - you can incorporate as much or as little as you’d like. I think a pre-k aged child would enjoy the books, RUclips videos, and hands-on crafts.
To Every Nation is a world geography/missionary study that uses YWAM books as spines. It’s put out through Not Consumed and is absolutely wonderful! Maybe when your kids get older? Or you can throw the audio books of each missionary in with each country that they served?
My favorite subject to learn and teach is Geography. Love all the books. Get cooking class global feast too. I am all for it. We want to take our time to go through continents and individual countries especially countries in the Caribbean and Africa that is often neglected. Super excited to see Gentle Geography.
I just started video but excited to see what you are doing for geography since I'm creating my own geography this year for my son! I have a lot of these books already or they are on my list. My son loves maps, so I added Evan Moor to my intro to geography. I got the first two volumes of the Story of the World for free, but I'm not starting it yet (maybe half way through year or next year) for my 6 yr old. I would love to see how you like doing both Story of the World with Mystery of History. I have really only seen people do one or the other Oh, I have heard about the math supplement and was interested in it as I have the rods. Can't wait to see how you like it!
I recommend from Lonely Planet: The Travel Book, Amazing World Atlas, The Cities Book... and from The Thinking Tree, the Travel Dreams FunSchooling Journal. All these were recommendations from other youtubers and they hit the ball...
I saw somewhere theres a timetable for activity and lesson alignment for combining story of the world and mystery of history, so they do well together, because this was available free online for others to use too. Good luck with this year! :)
Hi :). i absolutely LOVE your videos. Was curious about your choice in History curriculum and if you looked into The Good and the Beautiful History course? and if so what your thoughts were on it.
Hungry planet, material world and Window on the World are all books on my “to get next” list! Jamie Martin has a book called Give Your Child the World, it’s a book filled with book lists about countries and cultures! Amazing book. A must have resource to pull from :)
Hi! Can you please share more on the Spanish curriculum? I would love to incorporate it in our day while homeschooling. My husband is Hispanic and his Spanish isn’t “proper Spanish,” so he’s not a very good resource. Also, I’m homeschooling and 3 year and a 5 year and actually my 5 year old won’t be starting kindergarten till next school year. Thanks!
For someone I've never met in real life we are so on the same page it's hilarious. Also doing an Around the World study over the next 2 years with my Kinder covering world cultures and nature science (especially animals). After looking at everything out there I decided to make my own curriculum incorporating what I liked from a number of options. I'm not ambitious enough to cover EVERY country though. LOL. In fact we start school Monday and I'm feeling a little like I've bitten off more than I can chew. I hadn't heard of Bookshelf Academy. Will definitely check that out!! And Spanish - of course. Is there anything else that makes sense. Another North Texan here.👋 Enjoy your videos. Thanks for taking the time to put them out.
I love that we can connect here! Definitely check out My Global Community from Bookshelf Academy! It has some great resources and gives a great launching point.
The Organic Studies by idlewild looks nice, thank u for sharing. I looked it up and is kinda price compare with some other nature study curriculum. Giving the fact that it’s only a digital version. What r ur thoughts so far does it worthy it?
I love it! Full disclosure - I messaged the company on Instagram about something, and the owner generously gifted it to me. (I’m not making any money off of sales or anything like that though.) That being said, I would 100% pay the asking price for it because it is laid out exactly how we like to learn. Even getting the files gifted, it’s still an investment because of the need to purchase the books for it, but we love literature-based learning, so it makes sense for us. Instead of doing it 4 days a week and finishing it in a year, we are doing it 2 days a week and taking two years to complete it, so I feel like getting two years out of it definitely adds value as far as the investment goes. I also know we’re going to use the book recommendations again and again. I would definitely recommend looking at the samples if you haven’t already. They’ll be a good indicator of whether or not it will work for your family and is worth the investment.
We seem to be very alike in what we like for "curriculum" choices-- I cannot seem to find the Travel Book, though-- I am very interested in this! Where would I find it-- who published/authored it? Thank you!
