Material World would be a great add-on to go along with your geography choices. SCM uses that and Hungry Planet together and they go really well with each other.

I alllllmost bought that when I bought Hungry Planet, but I was worried it would be too much! It looked really good though!

For geography map work, our kids put together GeoPuzzles in free time and we play "Worldle" at lunch time. I'm amazed at how quickly our children recognize countries just by shape.

We have a "breakfast basket" that we do with Breakfast...lol! Anyway, we have a Bible loop where we do our Catechism (currently going through Westminster shorter catechism), scripture memory, a devotional (we are going to try "24 Family Ways"), etc. Then we have an "Enrichment loop". This year it will be: Poetry, "Heroes of the Middle Ages" by Eva Tappen, "Chaucer's Canterbury Tales" retold by Marcia Williams, and Hymns. Then after our Individual stuff...we will do our Classical Conversations group work combined with related picture books and You tube videos...and don't want it all planned out as I want to travel rabbit trails.
Read aloud time for us is lunch or bedtime 😁
We start on Sept. 5th everyone has voted!!!

Very good video. We used Abeka for the beginning years of homeschooling and they taught History one semester and Science the other half. We are no longer using Abeka but adapted the idea of doing History and Art followed by Science and Music. Also, Not Consumed has a really cool geography Unit( To Every Nation) that you might want to check out. You already have most of the pieces (smile). Have a great year!

That’s a great idea! I’ve heard other people that have alternated semesters of history and science but I’ve never thought of alternating music and art!
I actually have the book To Every Nation! I just wasn’t sure if adding that in would be too much with what I already have….but maybe I should!
      Thank you!

Looks like so much fun! Your kiddos are going to learn lots of beautiful things. Don’t you feel like being them and start from Kinder? I do! Lol! This is my first year (as I mentioned on my first comment on one of your latest videos). My daughter went to a very small Christian school from Pre-K to 6th grade. They used Abeka. For 7th grade gave it a chance at (a great) but much bigger school (also Christian) and it did not work. For the curriculum, academics, fine arts… it was excellent! The mixture of different lifestyles, beliefs, morals, etc. with peers, not good. So I am homeschooling now. We began Aug 1 and its going super good. All that to say, that I also picked the Artistic Pursuits (my daughter is so good at drawing-which is why I gave it a try at the bigger school), I also decided to focus on Geography/prayer and I purchased Window on the World (but mine has a different cover), and it does look so beautiful for morning basket. And yes please, do the morning basket *in detail…pretty please** so we, the newbies, can get better ideas, compare, etc. Thank you for your time making these videos! Ps your idea to combine the Window on the World with the missionaries books is super cute! I thought about getting some and then I was like, nah too many things already and I want to be done by Noon. I didn’t think at the time that I don’t have to do everything every day! Ugh!

Starting this year we are doing Missionaries Monday & World Geography & World History. We will be utilizing our Voice of the Martyrs magazine (free) and the map that comes with it. We have Brave Heros & Bold Defenders by Shirley Redmond and several other books we will be reading. I paused your video and ordered Windows to the World 🤗
I'm going to order the mental health book and pair it with our GR Psychology/health.
Thanks for always putting out great content!!!

Awwww yay! How fun we’ll both be using the Windows book and the health book! 🥳
