How fun! I love putting unit studies together. It's so fun to create an atmosphere of learning, and re-learn things with your kids. My oldest (almost 10th grader and dual enrolled college student) and I have so many memories from learning like this. It's extra special when she wants to join in with her little sister just to make memories with her too! Hope your girls enjoy this sweet unit study.
Just had to say I’m laughing at your stack of library books, because we do the same! 😂 Even the librarians look at us like we are crazy, but we go through the books around here! 😄
Your book choices are amazing! I want to go back through your video and write all the titles down. Your children are so lucky to have you. This is our 1st year homeschooling as well and I have appreciated your videos so much! Thank you! If you are looking to add a TV show to your unit study look up Michelle Obama’s show Waffles+Mochi on Netflix. I highly recommend it. It’s entertaining and packed full of info on gardening, where your food comes from, cooking etc. My kids 9,8,and 3 really like it.
From a seasoned homeschool mama you TOTALLY nailed this unit study!!! We’re eclectic homeschoolers so I pull from multiple places when doing our unit studies. I grabbed a few of your resources so I can add them to the upcoming Gather Round Farming unit. Thanks for all your hard work putting this video/unit together. Much appreciated. 💕
Great job Jess! You nailed homeschooling on the head! Springtime seems to naturally lend it self to outdoor hands-on learning. We home school year round but by March after our spring break we do the same and start slowing down from the heavy bookwork and start looking at unit studies they get us outside in the fresh air. Great job fun to watch!
Thank you for your encouragement! It was so fun to put together, and we’re really enjoying it so far. We went strawberry picking today and had a great time!
I truly love all of this! Looks like such a wonderful unit study. I want to do one just like this! Will probably wait for spring to come though as summer is pretty much over.
Thank you so much for you honesty, I love your personality! This is my first year homeschooling my daughter, she will be in first grade in the fall. It's so encouraging to hear another homeschooling mama saying the same things we are doing.
This is awesome!! My library probably won't have most these books...but I've made a list. And WOW, I can only check out books for 2 weeks. I'm planning a zoo trip also...I think we have one of the best zoo's around! The Texas section has always been my girl's favorite!
Can you make a video on how you store/organize your public library books? I have library books & books that we own. Right now I have my library books in a cardboard box on the floor, once we read them, the go in this blue, reusable bag to go back. Sometimes it gets chaotic keeping all the books sorted.
We're done using it, but my daughter Kennedy asked if we could continue to hold onto it a little longer because she loves it so much. It may be one I end up purchasing!
Wow very impressive! Thank you for the thorough walk through. Do you have your unit study planner filled out available for printing? This will be our first year and I am overwhelmed at the thought of planning out each day for this study.
We are very fortunate! We have a large local library system, so if my branch doesn’t have something, a lot of times it can be transferred from a different branch.
Hi I don't know if this is helpful or even if its avaliable in America but there is a really popular limited series on Amazon in the UK called Tractor Ted. Its a 5 part documentary set on a working farm and it shoes harvesting and livestock and lots of other great things and my little boy LOVES it!
This looks incredibly fun! Does this take the place if other school time for a while? I have yet to do a unit study. I totally understand how to choose a theme and books, but implementing day to day is where I get lost. 😃
Wow this is amazing!! I love the library. Do you have any tips on how you searched for these, like a book list, or just a general subject search? Our library just opened back up but I have been using pickup but it would be a lot easier to go in and find books This looks so educational and fun!
I mainly did a subject search to place the initial books on hold. I can only put 20 books on hold at one time, so then I just browsed the subject areas on the shelves and found a lot of great books that way. For the picture books and easy readers, I narrowed my search options to just those categories with the search terms I was using, and then I located the ones of interest on the shelves. (I had the search pulled up on my phone to do this while in the library.) I spent a good chunk of time collecting everything, but it was fun!
@@TheHomeschoolConvert Okay awesome thanks! I miss browsing the shelves but now that they are open it will be so much easier to find a great amount of books on a certain subject. You did such a great job, so inspiring 💞
K-12 teacher here, with a love of unit studies, I just wanted to say Bravo! This is really well done.
Thank you so much!! ❤️
Homeschooling is addicting! Haha welcome to the community!
Haha, it sure is!
HSing is VERY addicting!
I’m sooo looking forward to teaching history because I’ll be learning right along with them.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video; I appreciate your time and thank you for sharing.

We will be into gardening from coming week... thanks for story book titles

"A ridiculous amount of books"--every homeschooler ever 😂 thanks for sharing! Planning my garden unit for next month!
Look at that stack of books!! 😍😍😍 I don't think you're nuts. Looks perfectly reasonable to me. 👏👏
This little community here is clearly made of my type of people. 📚 🙌🏻
@@TheHomeschoolConvert Yasssssss! We are the tribe of books! 📚📚
Love it! And yes, to The Biggest Little Farm! I recently bought the brand new book The Farm That Feeds Us. Highly recommend 👌
Ooh, thanks for the recommendation! I can’t wait to watch The Biggest Little Farm again!
I truly love all of this! Looks like such a wonderful unit study. I want to do one just like this! Will probably wait for spring to come though as summer is pretty much over.
And I thought I had a lot of books for my first unit 😮😍
I’m so inspired! Thanks for sharing
So fun! What a great unit study. It was nice to see the break down of how to create it, it’s seemed intimidating to me.
I’m super pumped about it! I actually really enjoyed putting it together.
Your kiddos are going to have so much fun.
We’ve been having a great time with it so far!

Wow that's a lot of books! My library will only let us check out 6 books at a time! I so wish we could get more.
Filled my library hold list!
Thank you for sharing. Nice study. I take that back. Great study.
Thank you so much! We had a lot of fun with it!
I love the way you plan a unit! We work in a similar way!!

My library system is very generous with our check-out time! It’s great for homeschooling!

Wow go mama, this looks sooo fun!!! I wish I could plan like this, but I EASILY get decision fatigue when I try. I’m sooo indecisive! Haha Have fun!
Just choosing ALL the books helps me make less decisions. 😆😂
@@TheHomeschoolConvert Haha I feel you on that! 😂
You can never have enough books 😍🤪
I have found my people here. 😂
I have been wanting that bee book for so long and found it on book outlet last night for 8.88! I am so excited to get it.

Sorry I’m just seeing this! The unit study planner should be linked in the description box.
Oh my gosh I am so jealous of your local library!!🤭 I wish so bad ours had a better variety of books.
We are very fortunate! We have a large local library system, so if my branch doesn’t have something, a lot of times it can be transferred from a different branch.
This looks amazing!!! How many days will be spent on each unit?
We spent about a month slowly working our way through everything. My kids had so much fun!

We’re continuing Bible, math, and language arts like normal, but this pretty much takes care of everything else!
@@TheHomeschoolConvert perfect!
Are you in the DFW area? Your zoo sounds very much like the Ft. Worth Zoo. I'm seriously considering a membership for next year.
Yup, that’s the one I’m referring to! 😁
Do you have the link for the unit planning sheets you used?
It’s linked on my Pinterest board, which is linked in the description box. 😁
