My boss’s wife is homeschooling their 2 kids starting this fall, and we’ve talked about me having them over to my apartment to do cooking class! I’m looking forward to having this little taste of homeschooling before I someday do it with my own kids (God-willing)!

I’m looking forward to homeschooling my son for the first time. This has been a blessing in disguise because my son is special needs and with the virus I have been able to spend an unprecedented amount of time with him. I feel like God gave me this time back that I lost when he was born because I was unable to go on maternity leave after I gave birth. I’m so excited to spend this extra time with him and sharing the memory of mommy being his teacher ❤️ (sorry can’t comment on FB I don’t have social media)

This school year I’m looking forward to reconnecting with my son. We sent him to public preschool last year and I hadnt realized how much we bonded over “learning time”. I’m super excited to reclaim that time with him.

I moved across the country to help with my 10-year-old grandson. Last year I felt very left out of his education this year they have chosen to keep him 100% online. His time is spent between his mom and dad. But I am able to be involved in his extra classes like art, stem, music... And one day to follow his core classes. Congratulations on your new home it looks beautiful and finds it inspirational with everything on your plate. Thanks for all you share will your subscribers.

I am most excited about finally having an official year of school with my oldest. Since before I had children, my husband and I knew we wanted to homeschool our future children. So, I have been researching and gathering for a long time now and it's finally time to be just a little more serious, hahahah with kindergarten. Anyway, I'm excited for all of the curriculum we're using, the supplies, the projects, and the fun we're going to have together.

This is my first year homeschooling. I was actually wanting to start last school year, but decided to give public school another shot. We are still waiting on the mail for the rest of our curriculum to arrive, but we started with a few subjects... and we are excited for the slow mornings and the time we get together. I breathed a sign of relief when my daughter said, “this is fun!”

I’m looking forward to watching my kids learn and grow in new ways. They’ve been in national school in a 3rd world country..it’s been good but right now we feel the need to homeschool. I’m hoping and praying that we all grow in character together as they adapt to a completely new form of curriculum and schooling. 💙

We actually have been doing school with our 5- and 2-year-old since January - never took a summer break. I love every aspect of doing school with my kids - helping them learn new things, seeing their eyes light up with pride once they learn something they've been working really hard at, it's all awesome! ❤️

While this whole situation has me so incredibly sad, I feel like this year, my kids will have greater opportunities than other years. I’m going to get to spend so much time with my kids. The memories they have of this year will be so different than other kids. They’ll have more time for enrichment options like coding and personal studies. They’ll have field trips and hands on experiments. None of which our schools can offer. And honestly, I’m wondering if in a normal year, homeschool would have been a better option for my learners.

My son was falling behind in public schools due to some delays early on, and there is no better time than now to jump in and take control of his education, I look forward to seeing how far he will progress with one on one instruction this year. It's scary and exciting at the same time. Thanks to all you homeschool moms for sharing your wisdom and ideas.

Skip Brave Writer and read “Know and Tell: The Art of Narration” by Karen Glass instead. All Brave Writer tries to do is repackage Charlotte Mason methods, but they end up just overcomplicating things. Every product I’ve bought from Brave Writer has been unused. Writing is really, VERY simple and Karen Glass gets to the heart of it really quickly in her book. Nice short read, to the point and probably the most practical homeschool book I’ve ever read. If you want more guidance I also really like the writing curricula from Well Trained Mind Press. It’s scripted, it has all the elements you need (narration, copywork, dictation). It’s also easy to customize either accelerating it or slowing it down, depending on what your student needs. It goes all the way from beginner to advanced. When I tried it in 1st/2nd grade I was frustrated by it, but I just had to wait a few years. Now it’s perfect. For reference this is our 10th year homeschooling.

I agree! That book was a life changer and eye opener! Change me as a homeschool teacher in how I approach teaching as well as personally- I have been improving my own learning and writing using narration.

I am excited to finally have my feet under me with homeschool. We have been doing it for 3 years now, but last year and the year before we had extensive family drama, then I found out I was pregnant with #4, was very sick during my pregnancy then had her late summer last year and STRUGGLED to do find any form of consistency and ended up schooling this summer to make up our days. (We live in a state that has moderate regulations, and so this summer has been all about checking the boxes to fulfill the requirements.)

For example I saw the school gave a book about the food chain in the rain forest. We can then talk more about the rainforest! Things like that! Since school is done 1:30 we have the rest of the day to do other activities!

We started our homeschool last month. My favorite parts are watching the lightbulb go on when teaching difficult concepts, and doing read-alouds! I love that series of biographies you showed. Truth be told, being married to my husband who was homeschooled and myself comping from public school. I doubted myself and had zero confidence in my ability to homeschool especially since I was comparing myself to Mary Poppins essentially. So last year we put my son in public school. He flourished until we went to e-learning that is then it forced us to find our grove and learn together and that’s just what we did. I love your videos and your recommendations especially in the way you give ideas and advice for read aloud books. Even Math lessons for a living education and good and the beautiful that I had considered and pondered over you helped bring confidence I was making the right choice to homeschool for my kids. Looking forward to seeing your 2020 picks. And thank you again.

This year I'm really looking forward to our "new" school room. It was very much in need of my attention. I was able to discard what we won't use, reorganize, clean it up a bit, and replace our table. Last school year I wasn't able to do this because we had a loss in the family and I didn't have time. So it was getting bad! It just feels GOOD to start the year with a fresh and clean space!

This year I’m very excited because for the first time we will be joining other homeschool families in our area and doing some activities and group things! The last three years we’ve not had much in terms of community so I’m looking forward to this new phase of our homeschool journey!!

I'm most excited about the fact that this will be our first real year of homeschool! My daughter is 4 and we had planned to do one more year at her lovely preschool before starting our homeschool adventures but with the state of the world right now, we just decided to jump in a year early! We're actually almost a whole month in already and it has been so much fun!

I am so excited to watch my little ones dive into their interests... space, animals, gymnastics. We have recently decided to start unschooling and I’m excited to see where it takes us!

This will be our 3rd year homeschooling. I'm excited about our new curriculum. My toddler will be joining us doing her own play based curriculum. She is excited to have her own "school" like her brother. I'm also planning to let him plan and teach with her a bit. I see that patient teacher spark shining in his personality and want to give him a chance to nurture that a bit. We'll see. Good luck to all you other parents out there balancing home, public and some where between school ❤

Love you curriculum videos and back to school week! This is our 4th year homeschooling, and for the past 3 years I have been running a home daycare along with homeschooling, which kept us from doing any types of field trips or outings. This year I will not be running my daycare so I’m most excited to have that time with my kids to be able to take school outside of the house.

I am truly excited to have our girls home and do homeschool with them. You placed the idea on my heart years ago when I started following your videos, and here we are now. 💗🤞🏼 But think most of all I’m just excited to get back into a routine and keep our minds busy with positive things, filtering out the craziness around us.

I’m looking forward to all the read aloud books we are doing this year! With my soon to be 5 children 7 and under, this is a great time to introduce fun chapter books while still exploring all the colorful picture books!

Your looping tips have changed homeschooling for us! I especially love that you always share your read-alouds!
Angela, do you keep your read-alouds after using? What do you do with the ever-growing library?

Though this is our fifth year homeschooling as a family, this is the first year my 5yo daughter will be "officially" joining us. She is so interested in learning to read, and I'm really looking forward to working with her as she learns her sounds and how to blend them together to make words. My all-time favorite aspect of homeschooling is watching my kids read for the very first time! 💕

I am looking forward to establishing a routine together where we make time for the important things like studying the scriptures together, core subjects, and art which is my daughter's favorite. The summer has been very lazy and crazy at the same time, so I'm excited to really start focusing on daily rituals that will be a great change for us!

I am excited to have quality bonding time with my two littles, through all of the things that make up our day of learning. We have a very large garden and a hobby farm that can take up a lot of time, even though our kids are there along side us, it still feels like less focused time with them because we are always going, going, going and they are usually off on their own adventures 😃. It will be so nice to kick off our muck boots and cuddle up with some great stories and soak in the moments, really soak them in. I was just listening to something the other day that rang so true for me and I felt like I should have it plastered all around my house, they said “prioritize relationships over the to-do list.” A reminder I don’t ever want to forget but yet, it is one I need often. I hope to change that.
