We raced Destroyer in the 2019 Transpac and finished 3 in Class A beating all of the Sleds boat for boat. During the race we regularly saw boat speeds in the 18 to mid 20 kts. range with our top speed going down the swells in the Molokai Channel hitting 26 kts. of boat speed. She was a wet ride on deck, but fairly dry down below because we spent a lot of time prior to the race in what I would call "water control management". Biggest thing during the race was the constant noise down below. At high speed the boat literally hums and with the constant trimming of sheets, you don't get a lot of sound sleep. Still in all would not trade the experience for anything. Regards, Jim Bailey, Owner.
I just discovered Scott and this channel and am loving it. Scott - you do an amazing job. Please don’t stop and let’s work through all the cool one design classes from the past 3-4 decades. Great work!
I grew up on a hinckley 41, so I have a love for traditional boats. Comfort and style was their priority. If you do a traditional boat tour, its a nice ones to do.
OUTSTANDING AGAIN!! Im a retired Middle school teacher. In winters Im a ski instructor in Utah. Summers I spend in SoCal with my Brother in Encinitas and in Laguna beach. Working on Balboa Island. I sailed A LOT as a kid. Lasers, J24s, 5O5s, Farr 37. etc....I'd LOVE to find a boat on which to crew next summer
Hello Scott - Thank you, Terrific, enjoyable series. Really like the retro / vintage yachts. Question, we sailed an Aussie Yacht, - Nyamba, Clipper Cup 1980 - to San Diego that year for sale. Wondering if you know of the yacht, and or if still sailing in the area. San Diego and the Islands were terrific sailing, cheers 🇦🇺😊
Great insight and knowledge dude......I dig how you get in to the real sailing technology, not just "how big is the settee". It's really good work on your part and your crew. I can't believe you dont have way more subs and likes. Will you be snorkeling soon? lol
Hi Scott, Love you content!! I did search and try to figure this out but can't. When a boat like this wins the Transpac, what's it's average speed ? Any other details that you, the anarchy spreading sailing encyclopedia, would want to bestow upon this pollywog?
Scott you should try to get onboard “Tatoosh.” She’s an 80 foot Ketch designed by Ben Seaborn and built by Vic Franck for the Boeing family. Used to Peter Fonda’s boat too. I think she’s somewhere in Coronado.
Scot - that nav station setup just makes no sense as you describe it. You sure there’s no chair or cradle to keep the Navi intact when they’re humming along in breeze? Who’s usually doing nav on Destroyer?
Nope, the Navigator had a pad that he sat on or slept on when he tried to sleep. He tucked a spinnaker behind him for back support once we hit the trades. Jib Kelly has been out navigator since we bought the boat in the Fall of 2017.
I love these retro tours. Scott's knowledge is outstanding.
pro trick: you can watch series at Flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies recently.
I just found my new favorite boat channel.

Very cool TP52. I believe she is a sister of a TP52 we have in Seattle called Sonic.
Great look at a beautiful boat. (Would have liked to have seen some detail concerning that big flat boom and its gooseneck attachment.)
really should have - damnit!
Fairly sure all the TP52's in Australia with the possible exception of Hooligan are setup for offshore?

Amazing boat and if you remember for giving you the link for that 56 footer from portugal it was the boat that juan Carlos had before this tp52
Nav station = ‘80’s video game.
Mighty Merloe was launched in 2004: Metro Boat
Destroyer from 2005: Retro Boat
Blame the video guys!!!

We @noblemansailingmedia did a video on it a few years ago ruclips.net/video/sKv1eQAog4c/видео.html
@@SailingAnarchyUSA Ah, gotcha. I have seen that video before and enjoyed it. Thought your full Retro Boat vid format would be sweet on this. Thanks!
@@samhansen527 we're doing a Kettenberg in the coming weeks. I can ask about Tatoosh
@@SailingAnarchyUSA those and the PCs are beautiful boats. I’ve spent a fair amount of time at SDYC. Enjoy these vids!

ahh my home port port of los angeles
ty
can you do a maxi 72 next
Did this sell?
TP52s have a forestay not a headstay.

I think Pete isler does Nav for them a lot. He just uses remote desktop on a windows tablet and can run expedition from anywhere on the boat.

@@jimbailey8552 my mistake, I think i remember him on your boat for Cabo 2019. I might have interpolated too much out of that. awesome boat though.
@@louietuey Your right, Peter did navigate the Cabo Race for us as well as doing some prep work with Jib in prep for Transpac 2019.
Olson 29 or 30 please
should be navy haze gray
The wallet Destroyer imagine a trip to North sails that's why the owner has a cushion ouch!
It looks like a trick one trick pony.
