Yeah and Tony Blair
And the other half doing community service in a hi-vis jacket.
Along with every other politician that has let the people down

As a grandad who has only ever voted labour, I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to Boris for exposing the Tory party for what it truly is, as he could never have gotten away with his corrupt behaviour without the rest of the Tories aiding and abetting him.
Yeah and the Labour Party are squeaky clean.

When thinking about the green discharge of a man that Boris Johnson is. I believe F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote it best when describing some of the rich & powerful in our society. I’ve screen grabbed and going to share your excellent comment on Twitter. Hope that’s ok!
One of the most memorable passages from The Great Gatsby. And, yes, like you, those words often come to my mind when I survey the damage wreaked upon the country by this cohort of venal crooks and liars - the Tory party and their powerful enablers.
Even though the report is definitive Rees Mogg and his other cronies many of whom were rewarded in the honours list are still saying he's innocent. How can they be allowed to do that without facing criminal charges. It's just the belief that if you keep telling lies for long enough people will believe the lies. Who knew that the man that lied all his life would be kicked out for lying.
Journalism isn't about getting two people to argue over the weather. Journalism is looking out of the window and reporting on whether it is raining.
*THIS! THIS! THIS!* 👏👏👏
But even with this simplified example it can still result in a subjective debate as to what constitutes rain. There are various definitions as to the separation between rain and drizzle, let alone other precipitation types e.g. when does sleet become rain in both a spatial and temporal context? If I say it was raining when I looked out the window, is it still raining now? If there's rain out my window, what's to say there's rain on the other side of the building. What duration does it need to rain for it to be considered raining? Over how large an area should it rain for it to be considered raining?
Even if such specific, and likely impractical, definitions were agreed upon, by simply looking out of the window, it is unlikely that objective evidence to satisfy rigorous definitions would be practical to obtain. For example, one definition between the cutoff between rain and drizzle is that the drops should be larger than 0.5mm. Is it possible to determine this objectively by looking out the window?
This may seem ridiculous, but these differences become magnified when the issues under discussion are emotions and beliefs that warp apparent 'facts'.
In the end, journalism should attempt to portray a 'balanced' view of the beliefs and equip its audience with the tools to make their own 'objective' opinion knowing that even then our inherent biases will taint our perceptions. Unfortunately due to other inherent human biases, e.g. confirmation bias, the long-known truth that a media outlet's audience tend to cluster around certain demographic, political and social stereotypes and a leaning of most outlets towards a certain inclination, it is far less profitable to provide a balanced presentation of the opinions ... Best to get your news from a number of different sources; not only within your own country but from others who have less 'skin in the game' ...
Anyone can say it's raining - chances are it is somewhere at some time ... Anyone can tell their truths which is to another a lie. Anyone can lie, which to another person becomes their truth.
@@DarkHelixiaExcept that it isn't the journalists job to determine the weather. It is to report the facts from the people who study it. When they print opinion as fact, they are deliberately misleading the public.
